My own state, Washington, had a bill in committee to prevent access to womens' washrooms by anyone who "possesses male anatomy or male 11 deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)." Like they're going to put TSA backscatter x-ray machines and DNA swabs in front of all restrooms in the state? Idiots. It's the politics of fear and division and it's one reason I'll never be a republican. When you punch down and bully people weaker than you in the service of your election prospects, you can go to hell. * not nowhere, there's a bunch named ALEC that coordinates state-level legislation like this across conservative states.

Around here in NFL-land, where everything is so ******* serious, you very rarely see fans wear anything but official player + number combo on their jerseys. When they do, they get written up on jersey fail websites. Whenever I'm watching the CFL live, back in Winnipeg or Vancouver or at the Grey Cup, it's pretty cool to see all the laid-back people doing their own thing and wearing CFL jerseys with their own names on them or with silly nicknames or whatever. Rock on, you chill weirdos.

I'd be over the moon if Henoc signed a single-year contract for 2016 with us. Every extra starting national makes our team more robust and injury-proof. Every extra starting national makes it easier to stack our OL with cheap imports. Who cares if he's not loyal to the Blue unto death? In a league of non-guaranteed contracts where team legends like Weston Dressler or Allen Pitts or Geroy Simon can be cut as soon as they are a moment too old or expensive, loyalty is foolish. I also don't care if his agent is an ass. That's Walters' problem. More and more young CFL players are going to be signing single-year contracts, so high-frequency player movement is gonna be something that CFL fans just need to get used to.

Washington as a DB: a somewhat improved version of Brandon Stewart. Fantastic foot speed and like DoD says, he can bring the lumber. Washington on special teams: very high risk / high reward returner. Loads of big-play capability but he does not take care of the ball. Seems like he'd get trotted out every so often when we got frustrated with our primary returner or when we needed a spark, and he would be shelved quickly afterwards. He got trucked by Nik Lewis last year, which is why people say that he's not physical enough. It was one freak play, so whatever.

Good signing by the Cats. Good luck to Washington except against us. Washington always reminded me of B. Stew -- a guy who's one of the best athletes on the field but not a dominant football player.

I saw Hail Caesar last night. Everyone rates Coen Bros. movies differently1 so take this with a grain of salt, but I thought Hail Caesar wasn't very good at all. It's got some really pretty setpieces in it that will get the critics and the film nerds going, but they add up to nothing storywise, as we can see on Rotten Tomatoes. It's kind of like a happier version of No Country For Old Men ... but instead of being about a candle snuffed out by the cold horror of the universe, it's about how awesome it was to work in Hollywood during the golden age of film. 1my Coen top four: Big Lebowski and Raising Arizona for the comedies, Miller's Crossing and Inside Llewyn Davis for the drama. Fargo is wonderful but a bit overrated and A Serious Man is slight but really really good otherwise. It's been awhile since I've seen The Hudsucker Proxy, but that's fantastic as well, great old school screwball comedy.
