  1. Why would he do that? Better to just keep collecting a paycheque and waiting for a trade, while you hock cruellers and coffee to people in Detroit who have no idea who Tim Hortons is.
  2. Another scenario : we don't get Glenn, Willy goes down in week 4, and now we are riding the Hall/Brohm train to another 4-14 season. With Glenn in the bullpen, we are like Calgary the past few years, we don't miss a beat if our number one goes down. I haven't seen that in Winnipeg since the Clements - Huffer era.
  3. I don't know, that Dinwiddie guy is someone special. Those eyes...so dreamy...
  4. 1 - Looks like pretty good hands with an Arena sized ball - hopefully going to the bigger CFL ball won't be a problem 2 - Looks like he won't have any trouble with plays that require him to waggle... nor fighting through a DB coming off of the waggle 3 - I'm concerned that he is too used to playing against DB's who are hopelessly outmatched by him on a size basis... He won't have as easy a fight to get those balls in the CFL 1. Is the arena ball same size as the NFL? 2. good call, looks like he was the guy in motion on a lot of plays 3. How many CFL DBs are that much over 6'? I think he will still have size mismatches... Yeah the only guy he's going to be matched up with in height is Watkins, who was Chris Matthews' nemesis.
  5. so I'm guessing he's not one of them smart qbs..... a clever QB pun?
  6. Clearly this is an entry level position to learn what goes into coaching on the offense. You have to start somewhere. I know some people would like to see Buck walk into an OC job but that would be just setting him up to fail. Baby steps.
  7. one less ACL to worry about tearing. Now we just need a QB with no brain and we don't have to worry about concussions.
  8. Good for the team and good for Buck. You can never go wrong hiring good quality people and setting them up in a position to win. Here's to what I hope is a long and successful career coaching the Blue Bombers for Buck. It would break my heart to see him spend five years apprenticing here and then watch him don the snot and white some day because he got an offer of a promotion we refused to match, just like seeing Khari in snot and white made me vomit every time I saw it.
  9. Dear Mike - please do not stop posting Bomber updates on Twitter. Without you I'd have to do real research and I hate football. Sincerely Paul Wiecek
  10. You mean third chance. Hammy cut him before we signed him. Except he was a punter in Hamilton. Yeah and in our first game of 2010 Labbe blocked a Palardy punt right at the end of the half and got us a TD.
  11. No teams? Are you sure? @News1130Sports: #BCLions gm Wally Buono admits he does not have a solid CFL back-up qb - that's why he has held talks with Ottawa about Kevin Glenn. I would hope out of respect for Glenn that Desjardins would at least talk to Glenn & see where he wants to go & work on a trade to get him there instead of just dealing him away to any team. Yeah so far they've respected Kevin Glenn completely and never lied to him once.
  12. I want to win, and for that sacrifice, I'm willing to accept Glenn back in blue and gold. All he did in Calgary was win, except of course when it mattered.
  13. Yes he was a sideline reporter for CBC. http://www.canada.com/mobile/iphone/story.html?id=2337809c-bac4-4806-be8d-4eb9767c65b5&k=34864 Maybe to start but I know he was the colour guy at some point with Army - I remember listening to Khari when he was on the phone with Mike Richards when Richards was doing his Armitage parody and couldn't stop laughing. Hey I found it! https://soundcloud.com/tags/steve%20armitage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CFL_on_CBC
  14. Wasn't he a CBC CFL sideline reporter before he went into coaching? For awhile. But he wasn't with a team in any capacity anywhere. He wasn't a sideline reporter, he was the colour guy in the booth, paired with the indomitable Steve Armitage who was doing the play by play. TSN took over all rights to broadcasts so Khari was out of a job which was fine as it was high time for him to be sharing his talents as a coach in the CFL.
  15. listening to Buck right now on TSN 1290.... Buck felt that he had opportunities elsewhere come up - so it was time to move on. Is he going to be coaching? There have been inquiries across the league. Is it with Winnipeg? He won't say. He's not committed to anything right now.
  16. Just out of curiosity ... why? Doesn't strike me as cerebral enough to coach. You are right, there are so many people smarter than Buck that have coached in the CFL...
  17. LOL from Doug Brown: Congrats to @pierceQB11 on a great career & ur retirement! My favorite pic of the time we spent together: #Hugs pic.twitter.com/QwteJzqZmf
  18. I agree that this is a legitimate issue and if nothing else comes of this case, the publicity it attracts should help to shed a light on the plight of the mentally ill in this country. I've been reading some articles too about how immigrants with mental illnesses have an especially hard time getting help as they don't trust their systems back home and so therefore don't trust ours either. Li was definitely in that category, as he was known to shun "western" medicine. It would be interesting if someone would put a dollar figure on just how much more money should be spent in this area. I know no matter what sector of the government you ask, the answer is always "more", be it teachers, cops, ambulance drivers, doctors or janitors. Whatever we spend, it's never enough. But this does seem to be an area that is chronically underfunded, and very much misunderstood.
  19. Even though 2010 was a fail of a year and Buck was injured for a lot of it, I still remember the commanding presence he brought onto the field in his first game in Blue and Gold. When he took to the field with the offense for the first time, I was legitimately excited to see what he was going to do, and I remembered that sensation being the first time in a long time that I was excited about our offense. It's too bad he got so beat up, and by last season was a shadow of his former self. Though he did go out with a great last game last year against Edmonton, he got to play like the Buck of old for that last game with three passing TD's and one rushing TD and it was good to see.
