  1. 1 handed catch - Adams at the 10. Diving catch Matthews only deep ball this year. Two of the deep balls that Nichols completed this year. I didn't see it as a joke, but if you say it was, then I'll believe you. I rest my case.
  2. 17 hates PLAP, so every good offensive play is about Nichols or Harris and every bad thing is cuz of PLAP's play calling. Hint: Nichols completion % is in a large part because of PLAP's play calling. USABomberFan loves him some Nichols so all balls that are caught are great Nichols plays. Low throws that are dug out by receivers, spectacular 1 handed catches or diving for overthrown balls are good Nichols plays. If someone actually tries to do QB accuracy and Nichols doesn't come out that good, suggest they hate Nichols and that they are on this site leading the Nichols hate. When folks bring up Nichols poor deep ball accuracy last year, blame the receivers. Hint: Demski and Adams were both here last year. Mathews hasn't played enough this year to be a big reason for anything. Whitehead's caught 1 deep ball. FTR: Stalled drives are all Nichols fault or all PLAP's fault.
  3. Nope. You've got it wrong yet again. I'm very consistent in my view of QB's and I view them all the same way no matter who they play for. I know that stats don't tell the whole story. That yards after beat down aren't the same as yards when the game is in the balance. That an accurate throw is an accurate throw no matter who throws it. That an off target throw is an off target throw, no matter who throws it. Its fans like you who give Bomber QB's the benefit of all doubt, while actively looking for something wrong in QB's who play for other teams that lack consistency in judgment.
  4. Personally, I have very few problems with the way Nichols has played most of this year. I also think that we'd have won as many games this year and last with Streveler at QB. That's not taking a shot at Nichols. It's saying the team is good enough to win with or without Nichols. I am happy when we win with or without Nichols. Folks take it personally that other fans of the team don't see Nichols as anything more than a game manager (Which he is). They take it personally when I and others dare to say that other QB's had good games. They take everything that isn't Nichols praise as shitting on him and then jump in to 'protect his honour', usually by attacking the poster not the post. That's what turns these threads into 23 pages of bitching and complaining.
  5. My wild guess is that it's easier to sell the team if Kavis isn't the GM. Mack was 'promoted' cuz his salary is already included in the Mgmt SMS. New owners will put their own folks in charge, but that isn't happening until after the season is over.
  6. I believe that the 'I Love Nichols' fans see everything that's not uber-positive as a slight against Nichols.
  7. Last year folks said Nichols wasn't hitting the deep balls because (Read this slowly if you have to) Nichols wasn't hitting the deep balls. It's not a myth. It's the truth and hitting deep balls this year doesn't mean he was good at hitting them last year. No one is trying to 'nail him to the wall', there's no 'fishing expedition' or 'witch hunt'. Those are all in your mind, just like the fictitious you gotta throw for 300 yards to be a good QB you love to make fun of.
  8. Bombers - Beating up bad teams + Edmonton Ticats - Beating up bad teams + Calgary Eskimos - Beating up bad teams only Stamps - Getting better, but not there yet Als - Surprisingly 2nd in the east. Almost out of the bad teams category. GM'd by Joe Mack!😯 Redblacks - Looked horrible this week. The shine is off of Dom. JJ anyone? Riders - Best of the worst teams Lions - 99 problems starting with the OC Argos - 100 problems
  9. Hey Bert! No, we didn't make a big deal out of 300 yards. That was on you. Nichols didn't throw accurate deep balls last year when 'we' were actually complaining about it.
  10. Lulay for OC in BC!
  11. They haven't called all the holding for decades. You don't even have to keep the guy in front of you any more. I've seen several cases where DL beat the OL and they grab them by the ankle and trip them. Still no holding call.
  12. He should thank his lucky stars that there's a management SMS now otherwise it would be 'window or isle?' for him.
  13. The 300 yard schtick is something the Nichols fans made up to make fun of. No one but Nichols fans are talking about it. It's not about loving or hating a QB. It's about looking at how they actually play week to week. You don't have to say only good things about one QB and only bad things about the other. Nichols threw a couple of great deep balls last night. That doesn't mean that he threw good deep balls last year or in general. Streveler threw a horrible pick last night. That doesn't mean he always throws horrible picks. Streveler's lack of experience isn't an argument for Nichols being better. It simply means that Streveler needs more reps. I have no complaints about Nichols play last night, but I would have liked for him to be pulled earlier because we were so far ahead and the reps were way more important to Streveler than they were to Nichols.
  14. Lucky - Set the tone with that great TD on the opening KO. Jeffcoat - Tons of pressure Harris - Doing the dirty work. HH - Speller
  15. I kinda wish it was #4theW instead of #FortHew.
  16. He's not saying they are mutually exclusive. He's simply looking at how accurately the ball was thrown. A great catch doesn't make the throw any more or less accurate.
  17. Did you read the article or the older one where he described his 'system'? It's about throw accuracy alone, not completion %.
  18. Damn your eyes too, sir! 😂 Back the the 'stat'.... If you put 6 football literate fans of neither team in a room with the game film and the catch radius tool, I'll bet you would quickly come to consensus on 90% of the throws. If 3 are one teams fans and 3 are the other teams fans, then that 90% would go down considerably.
  19. I trust my eyes too, but forum arguments of my eyes are better than your eyes quickly become no they aren't, yes they are, repeat ad nauseam.
  20. I agree that it won't settle any arguments or 'prove' anything. It does, however match my 'eye' test. For example I think a lot of Nichols in the dirt throws aren't cuz he had to and a lot of his deep balls aren't accurate (Although his deep balls have been much better this year). I'd guess that Ferguson would have give Ricky Ray big accuracy points because putting the ball where it needs to be is a very accurate throw. Completion % isn't that great a stat for accuracy. Throw a ton of short passes and it goes up. Throw a ton of deep passes and it goes down. Can't establish the run, don't have enough time, or have to play from behind so the defence knows you have to throw it goes down. Receivers can make the QB look good or look bad and greatly affect the completion %. Have an OC who favours intermediate to deep balls and the completion % suffers. Have a PLAP style offence and it goes up.
  21. Yah, it's subjective, but so are folks around here's views. It's not results oriented. It's accuracy oriented. Efficiency rating means nothing in this analysis. You're right that short balls are easier to be accurate on, which is why Streveler ranked so highly this week. That doesn't seem to validate your 'likes deep balls' comment tho. You seem to want to give Nichols points for results, not accuracy. Nichols throws balls in the dirt and the receivers dig them out. Accurate throws? Not unless that's the only place he could throw the ball and mostly it's not (Subjectively speaking). Good result? Sure. Nichols overthrows, but the receiver makes a great 1 handed grab. Accurate throw? Maybe? Good result? Yup. It really doesn't matter anyway. It's just one mans opinion of how accurately QB's are throwing the ball. Assuming he doesn't have a bias for or against specific QB's it should be a reasonable way to look at QB accuracy. I can't think of a better way to do it... can you?
  22. The CFL has some quirky rules. Folks who follow US football need to know that we don't play NFL rules to set their expectations properly. Fans who go to a CFL game expecting NFL rules will be disappointed.
  23. I like that someone is trying to gauge QB accuracy. It's one of the most important things a QB can possess. I don't have a problem with the way he's doing it either. Folks either don't understand what he's saying or are just upset that their QB, Nichols, isn't ranked higher. Note that this is simply about accuracy. It's not about play call or wins or even completions.
  24. I doubt that the good teams want to play Toronto or Montreal. To be the best, you gotta beat the best. Good teams likely look forward to playing us.
