  1. https://twitter.com/jeffkhamilton/status/895781394735128577 Jeff Hamilton‏ @jeffkhamilton Being told the release of Bruce Johnson was simply a roster move and that Mike O'Shea will expand on that tomorrow in Hamilton. #Bombers
  2. Nichols is a good QB, just like Burgess was. Neither are elite. Neither win/won or lose games on their own. Both can/could win with a very good team around them. Neither make/made the big mistake. Currently Nichols is 6th in passing yards, 664 yards behind Ricky Ray. He's tied for 3rd with Glenn and Reilly for passing TD's, which is pretty much middle of the league. He's number 6 in completion % and 8th in Avg yards per pass. He's being a really good O line (#1 in QB pressures allowed). Nichols needs to find his deep ball touch to take the next step.
  3. Bit of a surprise. Folks kept saying he was going to fix our DB problem. I guess the paycheck didn't match the output any more. Hard to miss him as he hasn't played this year.
  4. Edmonton isn't as good as their record and have 20 guys on their IR lists. No Bowman, Zylstra, Van, Lawrence, White, Whyte, Sherritt, Konar or Hunt, yet they still find ways to win and have beaten BC twice. Ottawa is better than their record, but they keep finding ways to lose. Last week they couldn't even get a single first down at the end of the game to eek out a win. Should be close, but I'll put my money on Edmonton.

  6. Players can refuse, but that doesn't explain why Spooner was moved from the PR to the 1 game IR, unless it's a reward for refusing.
  7. Not sure it ever happened. Spooner was added to the 1 game injured list Aug 3 (https://www.cfl.ca/transactions/) and wasn't on the 46 man roster (https://d3ham790trbkqy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2016/06/Depth-at-Ottawa-August-4.pdf) for the Aug 4th game. Rules (https://cfldb.ca/faq/rosters/) state:
  8. I'd switch us and BC around, but the rest looks good.
  9. The Argos already gave up on LeFevour. I doubt they want him back, even now.
  10. I agree, but I think a turnover is pretty much the maximum you're going to get with a challenge.
  11. It was a bad non call that got corrected by a challenge. That's not wasted. That's what challenges are supposed to be for. They are also for in/out and down/not down.
  12. Three Stars: Medlock - Won the game with his great kicking including the single on the KO. Leggett - Was a difference maker all night. Lankford - Huge play to start the game for us. Only Bomber offensive player to score a TD. HH: Loffler - Caused the fumble and destroyed an Ottawa receiver late in the 4th. Love that kind of play.
  13. I didn't think it was a bad challenge. During the initial play at real speed it was so close that I would have thrown the flag on it. Half a yard either way, with a turnover as the possible outcome, is worth a second look.
  14. Our O line seems to get caught a lot on the hands to the face. Maybe some teams brought it to the attention of the league that we kind like to punch guys in the mouth and now they are looking for it. I thought all the O Line penalties were deserved last night. I disagree with the term 'wasted challenge'. That's exactly the type of play that challenges were brought in to fix. It wasn't for the ticky tacky, slow motion, several camera angle, away from the play illegal contacts that coaches often used them for. The 1 challenge rule worked great tonight. Both teams got rid of them early and we could just play ball after that.
  15. I have 2 twitter feeds on the side. One's titled 'Morning Big Blue Twitter feed' and the other's called "Tweets about Morning Big Blue". Any need for both?
  16. Add in Kito Poblah and it's 3 times.
  17. Does O'Shea strike you as someone who doesn't understand the chain of command or someone who would ignore those above him?
  18. We're not talking about Mike O'Shea the HC who finally got us back into the playoffs. We're talking Mike O'Shea, first time Head Coach, with 2 losing seasons under his belt, the second worse than the first, no playoff games, at 1-4 on the last year of his first contract. If fired, that guy gets a STC job again, but won't be interviewing for HC jobs for quite a while. When your boss or you bosses boss tells you to do something, most people just do it. It doesn't often come in the form of an ultimatum, do it or else you're fired. More like this is what I want done and/or this is the way I want it done.
  19. O'Shea was saying it's day to day and he doesn't need to practice to start, so saying it's just a precaution to put him on the 6 game instead of the 1 game should be taken with a grain or two of salt.
  20. Seeing as it's you, you easily assume that it was O'Shea who made the decision when he suddenly realized what had been right in front of him for at least 5 games. If your boss tells you to make a change that you don't want to and you make it, is it actually your decision? Do you get to take all the accolades when it works out?
  21. Nope. Of course, it's never been proved that O'Shea made the decision either.
  22. I like the new rule and that they didn't wait until the end of the season to make it. I like that they will review the entire process in the off season and hopefully make it better. I like that I won't have to wait for a review after most big plays. I like that the Ipad warriors have less influence on the game. I like that the C'Mon center has less influence on the game. It's fine with me that HC's have to 'waste' their challenge on missed calls. That's what it was put in for in the first place. I know the refs will get calls wrong. They always have. They always will, but lets face it, the C'Mon center get calls wrong too and they aren't doing it in real time with only one view. Most PI, RTP and illegal contact the don't get called aren't black and white anyway.

  24. I knew someone would try to drag me into this. I don't even know if there are a dozen different cameras or a dozen different angles to look at in a regular season CFL game. Certainly no one on these boards has seen so many angles, yet many know for sure that he was either in for a TD or he wasn't. That's bollocks.
  25. The Refs seem to call everything that's close a TD these days. Is it because they know that it will be automatically reviewed if they call it a TD and it won't be if they don't? The byproduct of doing that is more TD's because there's rarely enough evidence to overturn calls, which is what the CFL wants in the first place. FTR and in hopes of not getting any more involved in this debate... I can't tell for sure if Harris was in before he touched the ground or not. I submit that anyone who says they can is fooling themselves.
