  1. I was pretty sure that we brought him in last year before the season so that'd mean he was due for free agency after this year? (Hence my earlier comment about hating to see him in Black and Yellow next season)
  2. Tangentially speaking, this question is precisely why I think that Dukes won't raise a fuss if he is shown the bench after The Chad returns. He and his agent know that they're auditioning for one of those big $400k+ starter QB deals when his current contract expires.
  3. The comfortable lead they had was (imo) a mirage. They got 14 points in about 30 seconds from a ridiculous coverage bust where 3 Lions were behind our defence for the easiest TD of all time, then Dukes tried to free himself when he was wrapped up and it cost us 7 more. Take those 2 TDs off BC's tally - which I don't, because that isn't how football works - and this was a blowout.
  4. Argo Bye-Week... so I'll take AJ punching one in against the Tabbies.
  5. Don't get me wrong, young Mr. Dukes had a great night. He spread the ball around and got everyone involved. Looks dangerous doing option-y stuff. There's maybe only 1 or 2 throws that I haven't seen him make. And he seemed to stay composed after that attempt to break a tackle that caused a BC fumble/scoop/score. 21/27 with 3 through the air and 1 on the ground is a great night for anybody, let alone a kid who looks like he should be on an clearasil advert. But Kelly is the MOP. He pushes the ball deep and accurate and has a fear-factor about him. Even if Dukes continues this form for a 9 game stint, you can't drop a star QB1 when you're trying to get back to BC in mid November. Quarterbacks get broken, and if we end up having the luxury of 2 starters on our gameday roster I can't see any decisions about that being made while the season is still going.
  6. Kelly will have the starting spot waiting for him in week 12 at home against the Riders. (and in fairness to Chungh, he won't be against Ceresna/Brinkman/Flo/Smith every week... those guys + Oakman will likely make a few O-Lines have a rough night)
  7. No Kelly, Picket, Ouelette, Hendrix, Peters, Stiggers, Bede, Leake, Gittens... and we beat the team that has been the fashionable pick to be in a home Grey Cup. Dukes is a cool customer. It'll suck seeing him in Black and Yellow next year lol.
  8. He'll be receiving a baptism by fire. They will stack up on him and send the blitzes and chase him all over while in zero. If he can't make a long completion or two to keep a defence honest, it could get rough. Yes we have a running game, veteran receivers and the best O-Line in the league, but it will be all for nothing if Dukes can't push the ball downfield and exploit the man and zero that he'll inevitably see (or at a bare minimum, make oppositions think that he could). Arbuckle appears to be our current #2. Yes, Kelly will play. And he'll set decibel records for how loud he gets booed in each away game. Argos need 4 or 5 wins during the MOP's suspension in order to have a realistic shot at 1st. It's doable. This is a very talented roster... but we have question marks in depth that we haven't had in awhile. Specifically: I have no idea who our backup Tackle would be. At this point it looks like we'll slide Hunter over if needed. Who are our backup Corners? Our American receiver list is thin too (and I note that Coxie has a hamstring niggle this week). All in all, it is very un-Argolike to not have the answers to the depth questions carved in stone. Maybe signings are already planned and because we don't get our QB1 back for 9 games, we're in no rush? IDK.
  9. That surely would've been optimal for the player, club and league... but not for the complainant. They would obviously have been best served by using the media and the CFL investigation as a big stick to maximize their settlement. Can't fault them for using the tools available to them. Smart.
  10. https://www.tsn.ca/talent/cfl/chad-kelly-toronto-argonauts-settle-lawsuit-with-former-strength-and-conditioning-coach-1.2130042 Per Dave Naylor
  11. Edge vs Christian at centre field at BMO for 2026!
  12. Or other local guys. We already had Bieber. Maybe Shawn Mendes would like a go at it.
  13. The Weeknd would have to really want to do it. The man is worth several hundred Million. But he's a big enough name that even if he isn't your particular cup of tea, you'd have to acknowledge what a coup it would be to get him. But he's a fellow Scarberian, maybe he'd come home and do it here. Who knows?
  14. Looks very much like it via practices/camp/pre-season
  15. I struggle to think of what the perfect GC halftime show would be that ticks all of the boxes. Seriously, I'd hate to be in charge of the selection because I just don't think you could make everyone happy (absent a huge injection of sponsor money that signs a big act, or acts as was the case at the 100th).
  16. Mild shock about Tavarus McFadden and Maurice Carnell IV. Both were projected starters in our defensive backfield. A backfield that lost Stiggers, Peters and Pickett... so it's a big reset. The new defensive coordinatorS must be very confident in the new talent they brought in to drop two players who clearly play at starting CFL level.
  17. Sorry Jay, but it is precisely still a he-said she-said... but it just becomes a they-said they-said.
  18. Well I do have questions about an employee who was so terribly maltreated that they apply to come back for an entire year more of the alleged S abuse. I wouldn't have any issue with that at all if it were the case.
  19. Sure it is. It's what they told her and they said they have documented (saying that you documented something and not being able to prove it is a massive no-no in a lawsuit), and she didn't have them this season.
  20. I'd have thought that the League would've gone for any party which they thought were involved. As Murphy seems to have been named by the complainant in the suit, you'd expect he'd have taken a pinch too.
  21. I see it as at least a possibility that the league just gave out a suspension 225% longer than any it has ever given as a CYA. The longest suspension they ever gave to my knowledge is 4 games. And those are for violent offences which we can all see and replay in slow mo. Some of them would put you in jail for 10 years. In the Kelly matter, we have a he-said she-said. He is a man who has made ludicrously bad choices in the past and seems to still not get the gravity of what it is to be the face of a team and the league. She is an employee who wanted her contract renewed (weird, if you were an SA victim) but because she didn't get the enhanced skills and qualifications which her employer told her to pursue in her exit interview last season, she wasn't brought back and soon after filed a suit. This is what we know. Whatever you think of my character notwithstanding, these seem to be the incontrovertible facts that we have available and we may never get the rest of it after the settlement and the NDA is signed.
  22. I neither believe nor disbelieve her. Both have reasons to lie.
  23. I expect we roll with Dukes and Scott. We have another young QB named Raquet who likely gets some roster time due to this. It's crazy how we as fans have a nine game suspension on the MOP and no earthly clue as to what he allegedly did. And we may never once the civil case is settled.
  24. And was in, what is for my money, the greatest movie made in my lifetime.
