  1. You don't have to like him, but saying that he deserves to be fouled, in a sport where fouls can be life altering, is a bad look.
  2. I hate comparing players and teams from different eras. The modern athlete as we know him to be in 2024 is a different creation than anything prior to the 2000s could have conceived of. And most of these guys who basically look like they've been produced in a laboratory somewhere look that way for a reason: they pretty much were for the first 18 years of their lives. The only way these cross-era comparisons ever work for me requires that I imagine the player from the earlier generation having had the same training and upbringing in modern methodologies that the current one had. This would radically change my imagined outcome. Imagine a Guy Lafleur that didn't smoke and had all of the physical training, modern hockey analytics and nutrition/supplements that say Connor McDavid has had over his life in hockey? (Don't bother trying to imagine Wayne or Mario this way... Wayne would get injured walking to a weight room and Mario would tell off anyone who tried to get him to stop smoking his pack a day).
  3. I think you know that I was referencing Hart's other moniker: The Excellence of Execution.
  4. Montreal doesn't need the win, but they will be looking for a palate cleanser after their trip to BC. We'll see if they can get themselves straightened out or if the Bombers will just go balls out to earn the Western playoff bye. When the Als were clicking earlier this year, and I suppose beginning late last season, they kind of had a Bret Hart vibe for me. Not the most imposing talent that you ever saw and certainly not the one that you'd pick on-paper to win a Grey Cup... but they executed nearly flawless football and just kept doing it without making any mistakes their opposition could exploit. Not sure they'll find that rhythm again... or if it'll be enough to get them back to the big game with the Boatmen rounding into form. I think Winnipeg takes it on Saturday and sends Montreal into the EDF on a 4 week stretch without a win.
  5. Does it help any of the Chad haters that we've reached a point where opposition defences could pretty much hit him upside the helmet with Sauron's mace after the whistle and not get flagged? Jokes aside, there's no denying it: when the Chad is having a good day (which is most of the time) he plays like an MOP.
  6. I was actually saying during the (very long) review that they could spot this 2 yards short of a 1st or half a yard beyond it and I would not credibly be able to say they were definitively wrong.
  7. What? Bluto?
  8. That's what the guys have been calling Ceresna .
  9. They don't give out awards for who the best defensive player in the league has been over a 3 season stretch, but if they did, Wynton would walk it.
  10. FWIW, the Argos dressed 9 D Linemen. Shock and awe on your O Line was clearly coach Din's gameplan. I'm not defending them as an elite unit who just had a bad night, but once the depth charts came out it should've been obvious that the plan was to rotate through a fresh Holley/Brinkman/Williams/etc and blow away whoever was unlucky enough to be opposite them while Flo, Robbie and Captain America run riot. Good game if you like watching defences. Reffing was woeful both ways.
  11. If it weren't in Manitoba, I'd like our chances more than I do. You guys have already lost your 2 home games this season. 3 would be nearly unthinkable, moreso considering how you've rounded into form and haven't lost since week 8 in OT at BMO. If we can neutralize your run again without overcommitting to it and chase Collaros around it could be a tight game that goes down to the last possession again. But if we can't... I can see Oliveira churning out 6 yarders and getting up to pump up a loud stadium and Collaros hitting slants on us which would make for a rough night. Our issue lately is only our red zone efficiency. We're a high scoring team and we can pretty much run on anybody, but when you see us leae a game with 8 FGs, something isn't clicking. My working theory is that when we get into the red zone, that effectively takes away Kelly's deep dagger-ball. Once that's removed, a defence can cheat us shallow and we seem to stall out. I suppose the lesson for opposition coordinators is to figure our a scheme to remove The Chad's downfield hero-ball.
  12. Congrats!
  13. Wild ending.
  14. RUN K'DC Hope we get a winner this week. Happy Labour Dabour. Good Luck.
  15. And if he'd have hit the upright we'd have been boned.
  16. Saskatchewan utterly erased Ka'Deem Carey from the game. Great job by them. McManis and Brinkman can't come back soon enough. Kelly wasn't great, but he made a few "star throws" that we simply have not been capable of executing this year. I don't know what we can do in short yardage other than give it to Adeboboye, and when he isn't there, lining up in shotgun does not inspire confidence. This is a two year issue with us and it feels like the answer to to problem isn't to be found on our current roster. Hajrullahu played well as the last minute punter replacement and having Arbuckle sub as his holder. My play of the game was Coach Mace calling time out. Walk-off rouge. I love this league.
  17. Ugly game. Ugly win. I apologize to all neutrals who had to watch this mess.
  18. Too early to take Ka'Deem Carey?
  19. Beer? Beer.
  20. 7 grabs, 94 yards but he didn't score. I'm out!
  21. Bare minimum, I'd like them to say that when they aren't overturning the call on the field due to the video being inconclusive.
  22. I say that if Larry thompson doesn't name his team the Rough-Riders (my first choice for them) then for sure he ought to go with the GREENYELLOWS.
  23. There are plenty of things every day that I would happily classify as woke garbage. This isn't anywhere near it. Even a little bit. I liked the Eskimos. I liked the name, the history, etc. I was bummed that it had to go. But ultimately, it's a name that hurts certain people who would have been traditionally described as "eskimos" and as far as I've seen, nobody anywhere who would have been traditionally described as an "eskimo" has popped up to say that it is inoffensive, that they love the name and they'd hate to see it go. So it gets firmly placed into the "this name sucks" category.
  24. They've been using it all season thusfar. I can't believe that that team is 6-2-1.
