  1. I've done several hours of reading, like I usually do before the season starts. I recall only one analyst who has said "BLM will have to adjust to playing behind an OL that's not dominant.'
  2. Yes. And yet, when it comes to the Blue, QB health is reason number one for ranking them lower.
  3. It's interesting. Any review that heaps praise on the Ti - Cats, either doesn't mention their OL at all, or glosses them over.
  4. This could be a huge edge for the Bombers. Hopefully our DL can force the issue, leading to extra protection and more short plays.
  5. It depends on the poster. When certain posters say the Riders have a bad O line and give decent rationale for it, you can take it to the bank. I'll let you figure out who they are, if you don't already know.
  6. The United States consumes 80% of its corn within the country. The subsidies are basically a supply management system. You know, this Canadian thing that Americans like to criticize.
  7. I know of the area. It's like some areas of North Dakota. Flat farmland with hardly a tree in sight. The drive through the great plains, Iowa in particular, is mind blowing. You can drive for 12 hours and see nothing but corn. The chemical companies must be working 24/7, to keep that monoculture going.
  8. Washington wheat crop: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/wither-away-die-us-pacific-northwest-heat-wave-bakes-wheat-fruit-crops-2021-07-12/?fbclid=IwAR3kmRtT9mHVZGHy7FsITEyK2MTVsw3UHhZzMBpWLLtVASufTmE-aLHnh2M It's not that they won't have any crop at all, but they won't have the yield or quality they were used to, especially after the 2020 bumper crop. We'll all be harvesting less this year.
  9. An upper body partial mosquito bite.
  10. Derel Walker
  11. Just to clarify: I am not a climate change denier. Drought is a cyclical thing on the prairies - this is a fact. The drought of the 1930s was made worse by human practices: uprooting the native grass, over-plowing fields, very little crop rotation and not enough manure added to the soil. Fast forward to 2021: the current drought is also being made worse by human activity - just in a different way.
  12. Thanks. So frustrating when these articles don't have all the context. With that low Vax rate in a metro - heavy state, there's nothing to be surprised about.
  13. https://www.google.com/amp/s/3downnation.com/2021/07/31/tsn-analyst-matt-dunigan-ranks-his-top-three-current-cfl-quarterbacks/amp/
  14. Sounds like they have low - immunization pockets. I wonder what their overall vax rate is...
  15. They must have read the Dunigan article.
  16. Like Marcel B. in Winnipeg back in the day. No matter what the struggles were, he continued to script plays where the QB needed to stay in the pocket.
  17. And I would take a tapered off Stanley Bryant, over a LONG LIST of other OL.
  18. Well...more or less... Seriously though, I would say there's nothing wrong with getting another season or two out of an effective player who's older, especially a shut down OL. Stanley Bryant is an example. Back in the day, we got another good year out of Andrew Greene.
  19. The truth is, the South west has always relied heavily on irrigation. Drought is not exactly a big departure from the norm.
  20. To be totally honest, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. I would say they are rolling the dice, and hoping there won't be too many problems with pockets of unvaccinated people. They need to tell us if any of the vaccinated people had severe outcomes. And if they won't give that information, then all they're doing is providing fodder for the anti-vaxxers.
  21. Hopefully the vaccines will prevent severe outcomes.
  22. My grandmother was 10 years old in 1930. Although Hutterite colonies fared better than many others, due to subsistence farming and better farming methods, it was still tough. For the rest of her life, grandma could not bear to see one scrap of food wasted - she would eat other peoples' leftovers when she did the dishes - or put them in the fridge for later. Drought is a fact of life on the prairies - it has been almost a 100 years since 1930...
  23. Sounds like we'll have something similar to SK. & AB.
  24. During the dirty thirties, some children did not see their first drop of rain until the end of the decade.
  25. There was also plenty of Nazi support in Canada. MacKenzie King was an anti - Semitic who actually spoke well of Hitler. When it came to accepting Jewish refugees, the King and his immigration minister made sure there was plenty of red tape.
