  1. Oh, I don't think anyone is arguing that Taman's approach couldn't produce a championship But, what it definitely doesn't produce, is long term success Yes, the 2007 team could have won a GC, but that team went into decline in 2008.
  2. I need to conduct a semantics experiment.
  3. I am very sorry to hear that - there are many parents and kids in the same predicament Too many teachers are needing to take leaves, and there is not always someone available to fill in By filling in I mean more than being a body in the room
  4. Many kids are already checked out - from the see - sawing, remote learning and lack of extra - curricular activities Now they'll be checked out until Spring Break - some until June 30
  5. 2 weeks of remote learning after break in Ontario. 3, 2, 1 until it gets announced here
  6. Well... I was frustrated with the way Taman traded picks and handled the draft I believed Joe Mack would do things differently, and for a while it looked he was, but it turned out to be smoke and mirrors In hindsight, they would have been better off keeping Taman When it came to Walters / O'Shea, I was cautiously optimistic, but twice burned and somewhat cynical Yes, many of us here say we prefer the long term approach, but there was plenty of impatience while the building blocks were put in place And, maybe Taman has learned a thing or two. Because, let's be honest, most of the key pieces of our current Bomber team, were not drafted by Winnipeg.
  7. That's what I recall. I mean, there's no reason why he couldn't be a DC or a secondary coach somewhere.
  8. Andrew Harris Adam Bighill Kenny Lawler Rasheed Bailey I think you can see where I'm going with this...
  9. Jefferson played some good ball there.
  10. The dive down the rabbit hole continues.
  11. @Brandon true. But more teachers are opting for early retirement, and the new candidates cannot always fill those shoes. Just because there are candidates, that doesn't mean they're all ready to do the job. This was much less prevalent before 2020.
  12. All of you potheads...need to sort yourselves out.
  13. Oh, I think Covid is definitely being spread in schools. I just think the problem has gone far beyond where closing schools would make a difference. I'm sorry to hear about deaths, there have been deaths in my community too. I'm not sure how things are in Winnipeg, but out here it's a real mess. Experienced teachers are opting for early retirement, most retired teachers are no longer willing to sub, and inexperienced teachers are in an impossible position. Remote learning this month is going to create even more checked out kids. There is a serious teacher shortage, right across the country. I know of several rural school who have lost teachers that they cannot replace.
  14. Fair comment - as are those closest to them.
  15. There is also other side of the coin to consider - those students who at a higher risk because of remote learning. Those who won't have breakfast or lunch, those with parents who can't or won't supervise them, and those who are disadvantaged because they can't access technology.
  16. I am not against closing schools if that's what the numbers indicate. There have been enough remote learning periods to show whether or not there was up tick of cases when schools opened again. And, more importantly, an uptick in severe outcomes.
  17. The union is asking for all of January, so we'll probably have one week or nothing at all.
  18. It's inevitable at this point. Anyone who's not vaccinated is basically a sitting duck. No amount of testing, isolating or lockdowns will make much of a difference. Omicron is going to find everyone.
  19. The Winnipeg School Division Board Chair is calling for KN95 / N95 masks for all staff and students, rapid tests for all schools and a period of remote learning after Christmas. (CJOB interview) I hope remote learning doesn't happen - the focus should be on getting more kids vaccinated.
  20. If he could check his ego at the door...
  21. "We don't even know why they're doing it...." - paraphrased from March of the Penguins That's it - I'm done trying to keep up with you.
  22. PC strategists are now saying Glover had ballot boxes all over the Bible Belt. Are we supposed to believe Stephenson didn't?
  23. And perhaps a promotion to a coveted mod position. 😁😁
  24. Contact tracing has to be impossible at this point, so I have no idea, and I wouldn't do it unless my workplace required it.
  25. If rapid tests had been made widely available several months ago, it would have made a big difference I took a rapid test as soon as I noticed symptoms, tested positive, and immediately started isolating There was really no need to waste the time and resources of the medical system with a PCR test Rapid tests might give you a false negative, but if you're positive with a rapid test, you can be certain that you've got Covid
