  1. I genuinely don’t think he was that bad to start the year, but that one game where he gambled and got burned for the TD was basically the end of him being even remotely good
  2. I don’t know which one, but I was told this morning to expect one of the two would be getting announced
  3. We probably save about 80? Don’t forget - we didn’t pay him 230k, the Riders did. Not saving what we never spent.
  4. I genuinely would’ve been disappointed to see us bring back Yoshi at 50k a year less than that. 230k is insanity.
  5. You gotta think they view him as the blindside tackle for that cash which is absolutely bananas
  6. Hardrick’s deal will pay him 230.5k in each season. 120k signing bonus. Makes him the highest paid 🇺🇸OL in @CFL. @CFLonTSN LMFAO
  7. Let’s hold our horses on that though, there’s absolutely nothing saying this was a decision we made. It’s not as if we released the guy. Could it be that? Sure. As of right now, impossible to say.
  8. I don’t hate that at all. Yoshi gets his cash, Riders get a diminishing asset, Drew Richmond gets a chance to play.
  9. Why would you think that teams don’t actually scout talent? It was fairly common around here at the time to want to let Harris walk to keep Brady. No surprise a pro team would prefer him too.
  10. Do the math. Lawson got a big raise. Thomas has never had any leverage as a free agency. Chances are he’s playing at our price, not his. Very surprised if he’s far above the bare minimum for his spot these days.
  11. This kind of statement is a huge indicator that you have no idea how the salary cap works.
  12. Richmond in for Hardrick is probably one of the easiest decisions we can make as a team. People are going to question the effect it may have on the locker room, but if those guys don’t rally around a guy like Richmond finally getting his shot after being on the PR for 4 years (especially with him being about as stand up of a guy as it gets) then that’s on them
  13. I’m torn because I don’t really know what any of it looks like and I don’t really know what our approach is going to be short term vs long term. I won’t lie and say I’m a huge believer in Zach at this stage of his career and I certainly don’t believe Streveler is a better pure backup than Dru, but I do have hope that Streveler will bring an element to our offense that will help Zach. It’s a lot of moving parts. I think if it plays out how I expect it to, I’d want Zach over Dru at this point, but I’m scared that we are going to be in serious trouble at some point if Strevy hasn’t evolved as a passer.
  14. Either there or strong side LB or both. No reason Kramdi can’t start for us this year.
  15. More Bombers news: we signed both Halletts … Nick was a pending FA and I think Noah finished the year on the PR?
  16. But the reality of it is that none of this is how it works. It’s all so much more fluid than that. You have guys on rookie scale deals, you have guys on American “entry level” deals … I’m not going to quote exact numbers because I think that’s a fools errand but it’s pretty clear the overall perception that we have as fans is way off. I’ve seen that in this thread alone. For example, how many people in here know that Johnny Augustine had a higher maximum earnings than Brady last year? For as good as our offensive line is, how many people in here are aware that we spend less on it than almost any team in the league? Stan was the only guy in the top 20 last year for earnings and he certainly didn’t get a raise this year. We don’t pay defensive backs either, only one of them made upwards of 100k last year. Lots around 90k but only BA was six figures. And not a dime of it counted on the cap so who cares
  17. I wasn’t arguing it’s a bad deal. I was making a point that people get worked up about these high numbers but they really have no idea just how many guys on our team are making those kind of dollars (way more than they think)
  18. Look at it this way: if we cut bait with any of Rose, Alexander, Gauthier, Briggs, Castillo, Bailey, Hardrick or Thomas and replace them with a minimum level salary, that’s probably a savings of anywhere between 30-70k each. Already moved on from Mike Miller, Alden Darby, Jeffcoat .. if those are minimum salary replacements, that’s roughly another 150k in cap savings already.
  19. I see we’ve proceeded to the part of the off-season where we forget that replacements for old players don’t cost $0 SPECULATIONSZN The cap is $5.585 million this year, that’s roughly 125k per spot on the active roster. people would be horrified if they saw how much Jake Thomas, Jesse Briggs, Shayne Gauthier, etc were making. Hell, did anyone discuss how we’re also paying Cam Lawson about 140k this year?
  20. The issue isn’t “can we afford Brady”, the issue is “is it worth paying Brady” People are all up in arms about the Kolonscopy contract, but Demski just lowered his cap hit, we’re moving on from Jeffcoat, we’re moving on from a LOT of our special teams guys who were on their second/third deals making bigger money. We’ve got lots of money to spend.
  21. I’m not really sure why you think we’re scrambling to find money for Schoen and Brady. The money is there.
