It's not unreasonable to suggest that Nichols didn't have a great game .. no matter how you slice it, he wasn't particularly sharp and he made a number of terrible throws. This is what you get with him though .. when he's on he's on, he takes advantage of those instances when a receiver has a step .. when he's not .. he's most definitely not. It is what it is. Is it all on him? No. The offensive line got out played; Hardrick and Speller both really struggled. Nichols never really looked comfortable back there. The defense got hit in the mouth early and never really responded. Sure they shut down Evans .. but how many reps did he get in the lead up to the game? The defense did what it had to when he came in but they weren't world beaters. The TiCat game was a collective shitting of the bed from all three phases of this team .. a game I will do my best to forget.

I suspect that his loyalty is to his family and he will do what makes the most sense for them. O'Shea was an Argo. He bled for them on the field. He got his start in coaching as an Argo .. there's no denying his has history there. He made his mark in coaching here, in Winnipeg, and is on the cusp of something pretty damned special. This is the city that gave him a shot as a head coach, this is the organization that was steadfast in their support of him as he honed his craft and I suspect this will be the franchise he wins his first Championship with (as a head coach). At the end of the day though, family trumps all and he will go where his family needs him to be .. where it makes the most sense for him to be.

Just lights out defensive play. I really think had Ottawa stayed with the run a little more and kept Davis in at quarterback, it would have been closer but .. Jennings is a hot mess and for every play he made, he ended up giving it right back.

I've suffered both a hamstring tear and an Achilles rupture .. my hamstring tear took me longer to get right (I say this as someone who suffered a complete rupture of my Achilles and required surgery). Soft tissue injuries are no joke (and hamstrings can be a pain in the ass - literally - depending on WHERE within the muscle they occurred) and they become more common once you've suffered them.

I wouldn't eat too much crow .. 'Being involved in a fight; expect his release' is much different than 'Guy was stabbed and went to / released from hospital; is practicing with team today'.

Kind of curious about this myself as well. I know there was a home game (our first?) where he didn't appear happy while on the sidelines. Few targets. Those he saw were garbage. I sit more or less right behind our bench and realize this is just my perception but, he looked a little frustrated. Was funny though, after I noticed that they forced the next couple of throws his way. No receiver in this offence is going to dominate targets and there are games where guys just don't get looks and players really need to buy into that. I wonder if that's the rub.

Guys, I'm just going to lock this now .. if *anything* comes of this RUMOR, feel free to create a new thread to discuss. For now, let's set this aside.
-
Oh I completely agree which is why I’ve *always* defended Walters for his long view and Miller for his refusal to make knee jerk decisions to appease anyone.

I wonder what the West would look like if Reilly stayed in Edmonton and Harris ended up in BC. Theoretically, BC would have had more cash to shore up their o-line .. might have had a more competitive roster overall. The standings might not look that different but would BC be the dumpster fire they are now?

Bombers vs Smoked Argos Coming to 'Peg
voodoochylde replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If they don't run up the score on the Argos I'm going to be sorely disappointed. -
The way he calls an offense at times, you'd certainly think he has no balls.

Bombers @ Lewis Ward's 47 yard missed FG Pre-game Thread
voodoochylde replied to BBlink's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
All I want to see is a good, old fashioned, ass kicking. Nothing pretty. Go into Ottawa and beat them on both sides of the ball. -
Yeah .. when it came to our quarterback situation, we went through the wilderness for a very long while and *still* didn't manage to "accomplish" that feat. Bravo Riders for doing what should be near impossible in the modern CFL
-
It's what happens when you start to develop solid depth, have guys that can push the back half of your talent pool and legitimately push for playing time. The drop off just isn't as huge as it has been in years past because we've taken the long view in how we manage our roster (and draft).

There we go Blue. Offensive line got away with a bit of a tackle on Nichols scramble. -

I only wish Khari could have bounced back from the hits like Reilly seems to have .. we might not have wandered the wastelands for as long as we did if he'd stayed healthy.
-
That's just the make-up of the man though. Khari had that gunslinger mentality and I'm sure his OCs (at times) weren't too thrilled with some of those chuck and duck plays but couldn't fault the results. One real difference between Strevs and Nichols is how they spread the ball around. Streveler didn't lock into a single guy (or no single guy dominated targets - for the most part) .. Each game, whether by accident or design, Nichols seems to .. "forget" about certain players.
-
Not saying Thompkins IS that next guy but it’s awfully hard to make plays when you see two targets a game (if that). Between Nichols locking into particular players and LaPo’s tendency to feature specific guys .. certain roles are going to suffer from a lack of production.
-
The problem with receiver (or at least enticing a quality receiver to sign here) is that this offense runs through Andrew Harris. Couple that with Nichols play style, no receiver is going to put up gaudy numbers. You want a stud receiver, you're going to have to feed him the ball (or at least sign someone who knows how to put the team first and play the role that's asked .. ego aside).
-
Has he played yet? No. For as talented as he is .. he is still an unknown ..
-
There's a cap and penalties in place. The organization can spend as they see fit .. they can also (hopefully) deal with the ramifications of that as well if they go over the cap. I don't think the league will simply "turn a blind eye" toward any team's cap situation.
