  1. It appears that this blocking that Twitter is doing is slowly making its way through the internet. Here is an article of how embedding tweets has started affecting many Wordpress sites as well. https://twittercommunity.com/t/wordpress-fails-to-embed-tweets/194433 At some point, when embeds are blocked everywhere, maybe Twitter will fix it.
  2. Correct. If someone really wants to pick a tie, you can PM it to me or post in the pick 'em thread before game start.
  3. I don't think there has been a tie in almost 10 years that we've been running this (it might have happened once). But if there were, then we'd likely split the prize.
  4. Pick 'Ems are back for the 2023 season How do they work? Each week you pick the winners for all CFL games. You get one point for every correct pick. Whoever has the most points at the end of the year wins a $50 gift certificate at the Bomber store. Picks will be done through the polling system. Polls close at game start of the first game of the week. I will accept picks for games that have not started yet through PMs if you are late getting them in. Week 1 kicks off Thursday night football with the Lions visiting the Stampeders. Picks need to be in by 8PM Thursday, June 8th.
  5. Update on the twitter embeds. In the support forums for the board software, there are many other communities experiencing similar issues, though it isn't affecting everyone. The consensus seems to be that Twitter is blocking a range of IP addresses, which the server for this board got included in (anyone's guess into how they determined what those ranges would be). It is likely caught up in something similar to this. Will continue to monitor, but not much more I can do on my end at this point.
  6. Sad and telling that this is what you think makes the internet great.
  7. When was the last time you used it?
  8. It wasn't turned on when I found it, and to get it working I had to sign up for an account and create a key, so if it was around before, it had probably stopped working at some point.
  9. There are other message boards that have reported the same issue, but it is not broken on all the boards out there. So, not sure yet.
  10. What does one have to do with the other? Well, nothing really, but.... I was trying to figure out why Twitter links aren't embedding (no answer on this yet), but while doing so I stumbled upon a feature I didn't know existed and enabled it. In the tool bar when creating a post, there is now a GIF button. This is an integration into https://giphy.com and provides a quick way to search for and embed GIFs. Right in time for the new season and the game day GIF thread (if we decide to resurrect those).
  11. I don't block anyone. As someone who needs to moderate the board, it isn't a luxury I have. And even if I did block people, you aren't someone I would block. You misunderstand my issues with how some people post here. Criticizing and pointing out what is wrong with someone's post, is what a discussion should be about. Doing so by calling people's names, slandering them, degenerating them, is not acceptable, under any circumstances. You may disagree with that, you may think people are so horribly evil right now that they deserve whatever can be thrown at them, but that isn't acceptable on this board. And if people want somewhere they can do that, they will have to go find somewhere else to do it. I won't deny that I / we have not been consistent in letting the above behaviour go without stepping in. The truth is I don't like moderating discussions. I don't like editing posts, I don't like warning people, I don't like suspending or banning people. I do at times get so fed up and frustrated with the state of things that I end up making a general post in anger like I did recently. But things get to a tipping point and I'm not perfect either. In general, as moderators, we tend to err on the side of letting things slide. The problem with that is things end up sliding further and further until it becomes a problem, and then a correction is needed. We are probably in that correction state right now as people will come to see. The alternative is always hard line moderating. And I don't think anyone here really wants that to happen. Well at least they don't want it to happen to them, only to other people. I don't expect or want you to agree with everyone. But if reading what someone else posts puts you (this is generic "you" people of the board, not HardCoreBlue specifically) over the edge so much that there is a repeating pattern where you can only respond in anger and name calling, or you think people as so evil that you are justified in how treating them badly, then ultimately you aren't welcome here and you will need to find somewhere else to post. There ain't no shortage of places to go to behave like that on the internet. At the end of the day, treat people civilly. Make articulated arguments of why an opinion is wrong without name calling or making fun of people. To answer your earlier post, I do share your fear with where society is heading right now and opinions of certain groups of people. But we are still a single country, and if we can so easily start to label a subsection of our fellow country people as crazy and simply not worthy and substandard human beings that whatever they say and do should just be dismissed outright, then the ultimate outcome is either a country that will be broken up / split / divided or that a country that stays as a single unit but one group will be no longer be treated as equals and humans. And I can show you countless history examples of where that leads to. I don't want either. I'm not saying I have the answers to this, because I don't. I'm not perfect by any means, and not suggesting I have this figured out over you, but a quote I like to try and remember is this, A true test of character is not how you act on your best days but how you act on your most difficult days. That doesn't mean being a push over, that doesn't mean accepting dangerous thoughts when you see it. It means how you behave in what you do when you see it.
  12. Honest question here, if you don't like labels being used like lefties and libtards, why is it you continuously use labels like "knuckle draggers"? https://www.morningbigblue.com/community/search/?q=knuckle&quick=1 For the record, I hate the use of all of these labels because all it does is continue to polarize, dehumanize a subset of people. I'm no fan of what a lot of the conservative parties are doing right now and who is running them, but I would not personally classify using derogatory labels to refer to anyone as critical thinking.
  13. The stadium is on the University of Manitoba campus here in the city. It is a bit of a distance in terms of bars and things close by. The Bombers do host a tail gating party prior to kickoff. https://www.bluebombers.com/pre-game-tailgating/ Many Bomber fans will tail gate in the parking lots as well prior to the game. I'm sure you will get lots of suggestions in terms of restaurants to check out in the city. How long do you think you will come up for and what sorts of things do you like doing? Might help narrow things down a bit. Can also checkout this site to see what might be of interest https://www.tourismwinnipeg.com/
  14. There are a number of posters in these threads that I would say post here in bad faith and a high percentage of posts are nothing but slinging veiled insults at other posters and "the other side". And before you go and assume it is "someone else". Take a long hard look in the mirror. If you aren't sure, PM me, and I'd be glad to tell you my opinion of where I see you on that spectrum. I see a lot of posts criticizing politicians for not actually articulating a platform anymore. So many parallels I see in the discussion here. I've long debated just shutting down any political discussions on this message board. I signed up for running a CFL / Bomber forum. Not politics. And would never ever get involved in trying to moderate a politics forum. The discussion (and I use the term discussion very loosely as that is not what takes place in the majority of posts in here) in the politics threads has deteriorated a lot over the years, and I unfortunately view it as a microcosm of what also appears to be happening at scale across our Country. I find that sad. I'm honestly tired and embarrassed by the discussions that generally take place in these threads, to the point where I open them, read one sentence, and move on. It isn't interesting. It isn't entertaining. It is the same predictable rehashed words over and over. Just my thoughts and opinion .... something for ya'll to think about if you want to be able to discuss these topics here.
  15. Shows how much time and emphasis O'Shea puts on special teams during practice.
  16. Weird, googled it, and this came up. https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nfl/news/nfl-rule-changes-2023-number-0-jersey/cbt71sngamdpzbw7vf6mryvx Pretty sure the CFL used to allow #0 and #00 as two different numbers. Could be they are keeping #0 and getting rid of #00?

  18. Watch the first 3 minutes of this interview with Giannis Antetokounmpo after being eliminated from the NBA playoffs. I do think the Jets need to make changes nor was I happy with that playoff round, but everyone needs to take a deep breath and chill a bit.
  19. Anyone who hasn't seen the presser, it is a must watch IMO. Pretty much sums up the feelings of a lot of the fans as well. You have a coach in Maurice who basically fired himself because he was out of ideas with this group. Bring in Bowness, who at his age and where he is in his career / retirement, can be very open and honest with what he says here. Changes are needed.
  20. Don't bake sales on the West coast usually involve "special" brownies?
  21. I don't disagree, but I would be curious on what you would define as centre.
  22. Also, don't know what Twitter did to lists, but the embedded twitter feed on the site seems to be broken. The list / feed is still live here https://twitter.com/i/lists/90380109?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^embeddedtimeline|twterm^screen-name%2Fslug%3AMorningBigBlue%2Fmorning-big-blue|twcon^s1 🤔
  23. Personal experience..... We have a mini pack and were contacted twice about a month ago to commit to the whole playoffs, which we declined. These were direct from ticket reps. Have been contacted for our window to move / upgrade seats. This was a form / mass email. And contacted with instructions for single seats leading up to and when playoff presale was open to season ticket holders. This was a form / mass email. This was primarily through email mind you. I could see some people having an obscure email address they don't check or going to spam. But I don't think it is realistic to phone thousands and thousands of people in that short a time frame after the Jets qualified for playoffs.
