  1. The coach of the penalised team gets to decide who will sit in the box, but it has to be a player who was on the ice when the penalty happened.
  2. What I've noticed around my section is that when people do go on cheering for too long, there are enough people "shushing" them, that it doesn't last all that long.
  3. Anthony Calvillo Geroy Simon Kelvin Anderson Mike O'Shea Quite an impressive list going in this year.
  4. Not at all about the sound level .... but ... I really like the idea of the drum line but they play the same beat between plays every single time. Some variety would be nice.
  5. Yes. 14 forwards 9 Defensemen and 3 goalies. Assuming the other 4 players can be any position.
  6. http://www.arcticicehockey.com/2016/9/7/12815208/winnipeg-jets-2016-top-25-under-25-25-luke-green Looks like he has a lot of offensive potential, but you have to wonder why he fell so far. Be interesting to see what he can do.
  7. They did this for Copp. In the grand scheme of things, with the goofy rules for the NCAA players, you can use this as a carrot to get them to sign with your team rather than having them go to the market, it is a small price to pay. Get some cash in the players pocket with a signing bonus, let them pull in a salary for a few months
  8. Did the IOC agree to pay the insurance?
  9. This seems to be getting a positive response. I would credit the commish for introducing it and making it happen.
  10. Morrissey playing the right side with all the lefty callups
  11. I don't know if pressure if the right word here. Will he be in the market and looking? Sure. The Winnipeg sports fan and media aren't as down on Hellebuyck as you are.
  12. Cleaned up a few posts in this thread ... its Friday. Lets all take a big breath and be happy.
  13. It could potentially take into account all of those things and that is part of the problem with the way Dunk reports these numbers. All I've ever seen from him is pictures of portions of his spreadsheets that he sends out on Twitter without explanations as to what numbers go into them, or what his methodology is. The NFL sites that track and post these analytics at least define and tell you what and how they are calculating things. Here is a sample from an NFL analytics site: http://archive.advancedfootballanalytics.com/2012/01/temperature-and-field-goals.html What you would basically do is compare the league average of each kick for a kicker based on down, distance, (maybe temperature / wind speed) and see if overall they are making more or less then league average on each kick then add all of those up for their overall number.
  14. For sure. I was thinking of the impact more in the states.
  15. My understanding is that right now it is a value add. Stay at our hotel, eat at our restaurant, charge for free. If a large percentage of the cars out there switch to electric, they obviously can't keep doing that for everyone. But for now it is a good way to get charging stations out there. If a large percentage of people switch to electric cars, does this make the price of coal sky rocket? Or is there still an energy savings in the amount of coal it would take to charge a car battery vs. gasoline to power it?
  16. No single stat should be used as a single source to make a decision or paint a picture, but I do find the advanced analytics interesting. As to the sniff test ... I wasn't questioning your dissatisfaction with his tweet, I simply asked why you would consider Points Above Expected to not be a real stat.
  17. Why would you not consider it a real stat? 82% tells you how many field goals they made vs attempts. My understanding of points above expected is it takes into account the distance (or difficulty) of the field goals attempted and made.
  18. Buff's no move clause means he would get plenty of say if he is put on the block.
  19. Apparently Chris Jones is pulling in 750k / year for being both head coach and GM.
  20. Maurice has said similar things to this this year. You can shelter rookies in most other positions on the match-ups you give them and the situations you put them on the ice. As they learn and prove they can handle things, you can increase the things you ask them to do. You can't with goalies, they are out there all the time for everyone to see the good and bad.
