So because Laine looks up to Ovechkin, he is going to be exactly like him? Let him be his own player. Watching what happens to a player that is his idol may make him want to do things a little different.

I'm not trying to justify a 7 year rebuild as I would have liked to see progression faster as well but I'm not even sure how you can compare the situation Vegas is in and what Chevy inherited. Chevy didn't get to pluck players from every team for free. Im really curious to see how competitive Vegas ends up. They get a better expansion draft then previous expansions but also no 1st overall pick. Reasonable to assume they will lack the high end talent, but will have decent players. Will they be just good enough to not be able to be the worst in the league an get to draft the super stars?

Wonder how they've changed the process this year to stop Dunk from tweeting the picks before the broadcast announces them.

Are you sure about this? How do you figure this when he has a NMC?
-
Fleury has a NMC, one of the following has to happen: He has to agree to waive his NMC to be exposed He gets traded to one of the teams on his submitted list and they protect him Pittsburgh does nothing, is forced to protect Fleury and exposes Murray Click here then click on Pittsburgh: https://www.capfriendly.com/expansion-draft

Matt Murray lost his job because of injury, not play. He got them to the dance, Fleury is just finishing it. Tough business but I think they still go with Murray next year. You can have a 22 year old Murray signed for 3.75M the next 3 years and an RFA after that or a 32 year old Fleury signed for 5.75M the next 2 years. Pens are at the cap, have some interesting contracts coming off the books next year and some RFAs to sign. That 2M in savings could mean a lot to them in adding those complimentary pieces. 49 games, 32 wins, 2.41 .923 38 games, 18 wins, 3.02, .909 Guess which regular season stat line belongs to which player.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl-issues-list-of-expansion-exempt-players-1.741493 NHL released their list of expansion draft exempt players. These players can't be picked by Vegas nor can they be used by teams to expose their minimum requirements. For those hoping ... Myers is not on the list.

I know people always say BPA, but I'd really like to see them get a D-man with the 1st round pick. Wonder if there is a run on them in the 5 - 10 spots if they try to move up like they did for Stanley.

I never realized those shows increase their subscriptions that much. Always thought it was more about retention. Do these people subscribe, binge watch, then cancel?
-
Does it even matter? Are people going to cancel their subscription because this can be downloaded early? Not likely. They don't lose commercial revenue or box office receipts with their delivery model. If anything, this just gives their show free advertising as it is discussed more in the news.

How can you even make this assessment at this point? Scheifele wasn't even a Scheifele in his draft. There is no clear cut super star in the making. But there are bound to be a few players who simply out play their ranking and assessment. There always are.

Why is Jones the only one smiling? Everyone else looks like they are taking a mugshot. -
If you don't like it, don't read it. It is news and people will talk about it.

I don't think it was predatory or pre-meditated. I think it was reactionary when he saw someone in front of him, but to me it looks like there was intent to cross check on that hit and not just someone surprised to see someone in front of him. Truthfully only Wideman knows what or wasn't going on in his head when he did it. Henderson still had his career ended whether Wideman knew what he was doing or not. Is there a responsibility there on Wideman's part or is that a "risk" of Henderson's job? You are right, I don't think the NHL will want this going to court. Edit: As to staying in the game ... this happened behind the play. Had a ref actually seen what happened, Wideman would have been ejected for sure. Even Henderson wouldn't have known how he got hit. As for Henderson faking this on advice from a lawyer ... I don't buy that.
-
Widemans quote immediately after the game. Which doesn't match the video. Yes, he is hit in the corner. then he skates to the bench. Slaps his stick onto the ice in frustration / anger then clearly and forcefully cross checks the ref. That wasn't a last minute hit where he just ran into the guy.
-
First, I'm not sure what being hit by someone who is or isn't half dazed has to do with the severity of his injuries, but the fact is that the ref hasn't worked a game since the hit. So Wideman effectively ended this guys career. Second, if Wideman really was half dazed, then concussion protocol should have kicked in and he should have gone to the quiet room. But he didn't. So he was either half dazed and the team and the player ignored concussion protocols or they didn't and he was fine. You can't have it both ways. Either way something there isn't right. Willing to also bet this lawsuit is a result of Wideman and the NHLPA knocking his suspension down to peanuts. The joke is Wideman effectively ended a guys career then got the PA to cut his suspension down in half. I don't know if that is worth $10M, but they didn't get justice through league discipline, so they've gone to the next route available.

If aliens were able to figure out how to do it, why wouldn't we be able to?

Fleury is 32 (will be 33 in November).

There are two reasons on why we may never see other intelligent life: 1. The huge distances between solar systems and galaxies. We may never discover a technology similar to “warp” or “light speed” that allows us to travel the distances required to go to another planet, or to create a telescope powerful enough to see that level of detail. At this point in our development, we haven’t even sent an unmanned probe to go investigate another solar system. Put that in perspective, Voyager 2, which was launched in 1977 is the furthest man made object away from the Earth (at least according to Wikipedia). It is .002 light years away from the sun. The next closest star is 4.2 light years away. 2. Humans have only been around for a very very very short time on this planet. It is entirely possible that we (and species like us) go extinct in such a short time relative to the universe that the chances of coming across a planet while a species like us is alive is very low.
