Chase Balisy who was signed to an AHL contract (so I believe the Jets would need to give him an NHL contract) in the summer currently leads the Ice Caps in points with 7 Goals and 11 Assists in 21 games. Klingberg also has 14 points in 24 games. Maybe it is time to give one of these guys a shot rather then playing both Peluso and Thorburn. There is also O'Dell, Cormier, or Lipon who could possibly be called up.

That is the only way I can see it working as well. There would be a mighty cold wind up there in late November.

I'd really like to see what Burmi would do under Maurice. It is no secret him and Noel never got along. With Maurice's experience in the KHL, wonder if he could get through to Burmi.

Hard question to answer. It would certainly mean that we wouldn't trade Buff until at least the off season Wouldn't give up a first because I don't think we yet have enough talent to really complete and go far in the playoffs. We seem to be very strong in goaltender depth prospect wise right now, but goalies can be so tough to judge, not sure how much a team would be willing to give up to get one of them. I look at our prospects and what I'd be willing to give up this year, and don't see a lot that would get us much in return. I would say Ehlers, Petan, and Morissey would be on the not trade list. That leaves guys like Chase De Leo, Jack Glover, Kitchton as players that other teams may have an interest in. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/teams/winnipeg-jets/ I'd have to look at other teams and their contracts. But certainly a Buff trade will wait til the off-season now. And I think the importance of that will come down to - does Buff want to be here (the whole forward vs defence question) and it might be related to Ladd's plans too. We know Wheeler, Little etc talked to each other about their deals and agreed to stay here together and build something. I'd assume Ladd and Buff were in on those discussions but we will see. At the deadline, the Jets would be looking to trade assets they dont value (lower level prospects, Burmi/Telegin) or possibly someone like Comrie to a team that is outside the playoffs and wants to part with a pending UFA or a player with 1+ years left in a salary dump. Im not sure the Jets would want a player with term unless it someone they see as a long term investment like Frolik. Jets would be looking for either a UFA rental in the middle six or a younf player thats still an RFA. There will be teams with players to dump at the deadline that the Jets could get without giving up much. Once you get closer to the deadline though and the bidding wars start, the prospect wants go up. Burmi might get you something if the other team thought they could bring him back. Telegin doesn't have much value IMO. The problem with the Jets dumping assets they don't value, is most other teams don't value them either. If you want to make a "splash" with a big name pending UFA, you are going to have to give up more then that, because other teams closer to competing to the cup will be willing to give up more then you. You can probably get someone to bolster our 3rd and 4th line depth for a lower draft pick and/or middling prospect, which wouldn't be a bad thing for this team.

I took a look at the ice time of the forward in the Chicago / St Louis game last night, figuring those teams would be a good measure. St Louis had Steen with over 24 minutes, 3 guys just over 20. Their bottom 3 players had 5:33 (Porter) , 5:43 (Reaves), and 8:59 (Lapierre) Chicago was a lot more balance with no forward over 20. Toewes (19:27), Kane (18:09), and Smith (17:44). Their lowest ice time was Bickell (7:50), Carcillo (8:24), and Nordstrom (9:02) 12 penalties in the game though. Steen had 8 minutes of PP time and 1:30 in PK time, so special teams could skew those stats.

For me, the question always comes back to that Thorburn contract. Why so high and so long. A 4th line of Thorburn, Peluso, and Slater is not going to cut it. As to the playoffs, if we were to make it this year, even if we had a better 4th line, I don't think we are making it out of the first round. Even if we are one and done in the playoffs, we just need to start getting that playoff experience to the top half of the lineup. We basically need better 3rd line players to push the current 3rd line down. And those aren't easy to just pickup. It would be nice next year if Ehlers were to make the team pushing someone like Lowry down to the 4th. A 4th line of Slater and Lowry and one of Peluso / Thorburn or maybe Klingburg if he is ready would be more palatable. You could be right on the draft picks, but that is still a left over problem from Atlanta. I think this is going to start changing drastically over the next year or two as the Jets draft picks begin to mature. I thought Chiarot looked good out there last night, especially it being his 2nd NHL game of his career. (He was at Atlanta draft pick). Will be nice when these guys can start pushing out the Clitsome's and Pardy's, who were basically waiver wire pickups to strengthen the depth until we can fill it with our own guys. On the other hand, look how far we've come since year 1 when GST was our third line!

They also brought up and interesting point on TSN this morning in regards to ice time. Is the top line getting more ice time due to the lack of ice time to the 4th, or are they simply giving those minutes to the 2nd and 3rd line. In fact Taylor Hall had more ice time then any forward on the Jets or Edmonton. So if your top line guys can play 20 minutes a game on a night in / night out basis regardless of what the 4th line gets, is it that much of a stretch for your 2nd and 3rd line guys to pick up a few more minutes? Shouldn’t those guys be able to handle a similar work load. Thought it was an interesting point to consider. Also found it interesting that Byfuglien had so much ice time. I usually assume his minutes are higher due to power play time, but there was only one penalty in this game to the Jets, and Buff didn't play on the PK. Also good to see the Jets pull that one out late. The Jets of old would have never come back to win that one.

He normally plays LW, so that would put him behind Ladd and Kane on the depth chart. Would have to think that if he makes the team he would start off the year on the third line. That would probably put him with Lowry / Perreault at C and Byfuglien or Frolik on the other side. Of course a lot can happen to a team between now and next season.

The group that I have season tickets with went through this argument as well. We ended up buying because it would be horrible if the Bombes were in the game and we didn't have our seats. If the Bombers don't make it and we decide to not to go and try to sell, we'll split whatever seats we can sell as we are a group of 3. Hate to say this, but if the Bombers aren't in the Grey Cup next year, best case scenario is that SK get in to up demand for tickets.

I enjoy the show as well, but it does seem to become formulaic in that they settle in somewhere, bad guys come, they fight, they move on and repeat. Their story telling is well done and bring you in every week to see what will happen to the characters. Started seeing commercials for AMC's new show Better Call Saul, which is a spinoff of Breaking Bad. Looking forward to that show.

I didn't read the comics. But I love the series. Though I think the killing of major characters is sometimes done for shock value more than their claim of "the story led us there".I'm not even comparing it to the comics (which full warning, I do love). It's only drama for drama's sake and it makes me want to gouge my eyes out. But people, you included, obviously still love it Soooo... That's great for amc. Having never read the comics, I'm curious how closely the show follows them? Do they deviate from the primary story much? If you've read the comics, are you not really surprised by what happens in the show?

If you want to be part of the elite few who actually get paid to play sports, then yes. If you aren't equipped to deal with it, there are hundreds if not thousands who would love to take your place.
