Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
He might have the worst seasonal stats right now, but he still had the poise to run a last-minute game-winning drive despite all those worsts. I'm prejudiced, but feel that Zach has been a little underappreciated. If you take a cloaer look, you'll find that ZC played a very solid game in the 2014 Cup, and only an away from the play penalty on Speedy Banks' kick return preventwd him from getting a likely ring. In 19 and 21, lofty stats were pushed to the side as he game-managed wins. The Bombers were on their way to a substantial lead in 22 when the backup QB threw a momentum-changing pick. Even then, they missed a FG at the end. The defense blew 23 with a 4th down play. Last year was a case of being physically manhanded. In summary, ZC was a hair away from winning 5 out of 6 cups. Playoff stats are often worse for QBs. I think it was the 19 playoffs when ZC had a surprisingly effective game in horrible weather while BLM was awful. I also remember 2 OT dimes that put them up by 8 one year. It does look like 2025 might be the first time since 2018 that the starting Western QB will nor be named Zachary J Collaros.

Stamps at Bombers early chat
One different play outcome at the essential end of two of those games would have made it 4 out of five wins. The play that did drive me crazy was Prukop's pick in '22 when the Bombers were driving toward a potentially decisive score. Breaks decide many big games, although I will concede that last year was a mess from the personnel decisions on.

2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season Thread
Just happened to put on the Michigan-Arlington UFL game and within seconds, I heard, "Hands to the face, defence, number 44." None other than Garrett Marino. The more things change...

The CFL league office should be the ones drug-tested.

Free Agency 2025
He was helpful in the WF (19-26, 301, 4 TDs). He wasn't sacked in that game, which has much to do with pivot performance - just ask Mahomes.

Ironically, Toronto let Zach go to keep Ricky Ray, who didn't last much longer.

ZC had a solid game there in the 2014 GC.

Orange Team I'd like to see lose this week against Green Team I'd like to see lose Game Thread
The Riders will have to promote "Dress Like an Empty Green Seat Night" for future games. It obviously makes the opposing team suck. I really hate rooting for them so much that I'm not doing so, just rooting against BC.

3 stars plus hh ugly win
1. Brady, hard-nosed running. 2. Wilson, nose for the ball 3. Houston, won the game Considered Brown, for not LOSING the game and Castillo, for not being Leggs

Bombers @ Stamps : Week of Aug 18 Thread
To my knowledge, they've not signed another QB. That's good news. Perhaps Zach will dress as the emergency pivot.

Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
I'm sure that Strev has made more money flirting with the NFL, but it may have cost him an opportunity to have a long and successful CFL career. Presuming his fiery competiveness, though, it's easy to see how he would take the road he chose, and I doubt if he regrets it.

3 stars plus hh bc sucks the revenge
Unless he decides to throw six picks.

I have to wonder. It seemed like he didn't make much of an effort to walk it off, and normally they just tape you up, sending you back in. Zach's injury last year seemed much worse, but he did everything he could before bowing out.

I'd still take VA over the QB of six other teams.

Most cables don't have CBSSN, either. Not only that, but CBS took the Bomber game off at half on Saturday and put on soccer. I had to register online and scour the network site for the stream. It had every team and league listed except the CFL. CBS is worse than ESPNBA-so much for building viewership down here. Maybe CFL+ will work out.

Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
This post and along with the week's "Battle of Steubenville" contest (Collaros vs Najee Murray) brings to mind a sad story of another Steuby grad with Canadian experience, Calvin Jones. Cal was an All-State, All-American 1955 Outland Trophy winner with the Iowa Hawkeyes. When the Winnipeg Blue Bombers offered him MORE money than the NFL, he went north. Calvin had a good year and made the league all-star team. He slept in and missed his morning flight home, taking a later plane. It crashed leaving no survivors. Jones is celebrated in his home town with a monument outside venerable (1933) Harding Stadium. His storied rival in college was Ohio State's Jim Parker who went on to a HOF career with the Baltimore Colts. Cal was the first African-American to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine, and his number is one of only two to be retired at Iowa, the other being that of legendary Nile Kinnick. Steubenville kids all know his story and are inspired to this day.

Interesting update - I'm watching the Riders and the USFL playoff game at the same time. Garrett Marino just got called for a personal foul for the Michigan Panthers.

Hamilton vs Toronto Week 2
I saw Kelly play for Buffalo St. Joe against Steubenville High School. His team lost, and he had several tantrums. You could see the talent, but the attitude was terrible. He.took a lot of hits that night.

Blue Bombers vs. Gappers Week 2 GDT
Also, keep in mind that they ran the ball on first down for most of the second half against Hamilton and most of the fourth this week. If pressed, the passing yardage could have been off the charts.
