  1. Need a good effort tonight for the Blue & Gold after watching my Islanders lose to Washington in the opener.  Scored one freaking goal and the PP was its usual joke.  How I miss the old days when an Islander PP was the kiss of death for the opposition.

We cannot afford another stink-a-rooni like whatever they threw on the field vs Hamilton.

I too want to go to Montreal, alone, without my wife.

I had The Sacred Jersey all set to go.  The Sacred Jersey has my last name and #9 for Clark Gillies, my hockey idol.   Used to play a lot of hockey in my younger days and always wore my Sacred Jersey with my matching blue/white/orange gloves and blue pants during pick-up games or rink rentals.

  3. I was going to be in Montreal for this game and had planned it out since the schedule was released.  Then my wife hit me with "can't you go alone" even though she's a big football fan and never misses Giants games.

Go alone.  Just what I want to do.  Drive 8 hours from New Jersey to Montreal, stay by myself for 2-3 nights, tour Montreal by myself, go to the game by myself, and then drive 8 hours home....by myself.

Last time I was in Montreal was a family vacation in 1982.  Every picture has me wearing NY Islanders stuff.  It was just after Cup #3.  Loved to piss off the locals.

Welcome here.. Just curious what your main gripes are with the NFL.  I mean there's quite a few potential candidates in my mind :)

And one more thing.  My team stinks.  The Giants are an embarrassment.  Sure they played well in the preseason but let's see how they do when the games really count.  Eli Manning gets creamed because of a high school-level offensive line and "fans" here think it's all his fault.  Joe Montana couldn't win with the O-line Eli plays behind.

  5. The greed & money is up there.  Yes you get it while you can because it does not last forever.  I'm an Accountant and if someone offered me a huge payday I would not turn it down.  But when I hear of players turning down $20 mil per year....enough is enough.  Then there are the multiple arrests and how the league seemingly looks the other way on bad behavior.   Having five preseason games is silly and it's just another way for owners to put cash in their pockets.  Teams force you to buy the preseason games as part of your ticket package.   Whether you go or make the tickets into paper airplanes is none of their concern.   They already have your money.  Full price for watching players that will be cut the next day.

  6. Anyone else notice that the shirt selection in the Bombers online store is lacking somewhat?  Many of their items are sold out and there is only one new offering listed.  I figured that five games into the season the store would be fully stocked and pushing items left & right.  I need my Bomber stuff here in NJ because my NY Giants are a joke, have been a joke for the past several seasons, and the upcoming season will be no different.

Sorry to say but the Rider store has a huge variety of shirts and awesome hats.

  7. New Bombers fan here who joined up after the first 5 games.  Tough way to see the season end but it was a fun ride.  Sure wish the O would have done a little better on 2nd down.  Looked like my NY Giants on 3rd down.  We call it the Tango Offense.  One, two, three kick.

And I just got my latest Bombers shirts & hat two days ago in preparation for a Grey Cup appearance.  Oh well.  There's always next year.

  8. Hi Everyone:

Keeping in mind that I am new to the CFL this year I was surprised at the small crowd when watching the video highlights on bluebombers.com.  Why the small turnout for such a big game?  I can only compare it to a big Giants - Eagles game (assuming my Giants are not the league-wide joke they are this year).  You wouldn't see an open seat anywhere in GIANTS STADIUM.  I refuse to call the new place MetLife.  It's still GIANTS STADIUM.

What? We beat Calgary last year in the last week of the season. We also pushed them to the limit in the game earlier that year too.

Man, I follow football to be entertained, not to be a grouch and depressed. If I wanted to do that I'd watch the news or be a Jets fan. As it stands, the Bombers are in control of their own destiny and are on the bye week. Besides, other teams have had equally lengthy Grey Cup droughts:

    Calgary - 23 years (1948 - 1971)
    Edmonton - 19 years (1956 - 1975)
    Saskatchewan - 56 years (Inception, 1910 - 1966)
    BC - 21 years (1964 - 1985)
    Winnipeg - 28 years (current)
    Toronto - 31 years (1952 - 1983)
    Hamilton - 19 years (1967 - 1986)
    Montreal - 25 years (1977 to 2002)

So yes, our current drought isn't ideal, but it is not completely out of the norm.

I am new to the CFL game this year and picked the Bombers as my team even though I'm from New Jersey.   Nobody can accuse me of being a front-runner!!!

  10. New CFL & Bombers fan here from New Jersey.  ESPN does not have any CFL games on the schedule for the next few weeks.   Is there any way to watch Bombers games streaming over the web?

I guess ESPN must be inundated with poker or drone racing instead of showing actual sports.

  11. New CFL fan here.  Long time fan of the NY Giants and disgusted with the NFL.  Thought I would start to follow the CFL and picked the Bombers as my team.  Love the nickname.  I'm in NJ and cannot root for Toronto because I am a Yankees & Islanders fan.  Same with Montreal.  Cannot cheer for a Montreal team when you're an Islanders fan.  It was between the Bombers & the RoughRiders as my team and the gold & blue won.  Have my 3 Bombers shirts already and I do get strange looks when I wear them.
