  1. I know this is a discussion about our defense but to me, the play that won the game for us wasn't on defense. It was on Special Team punt cover. When Hansen took out 2 guys with a ferocious tackle. That was the final blow to an arrogant team that thought we'd just lie down for them because they thought they were better. That was the final knock out punch. The Cats were finished after that. They wanted no part of the Bombers anymore.
  2. It's always a gamble when you pay your starter big money. Look at Reilly in BC. Willy signed for big bucks here & played himself off the team. Evans could regress surely but he also could take the next step up in his development. But he won't if he has to be backup to Masoli. Jeremiah may want to stay in Hamilton but I have a feeling he'll go where the most money is as he's now in his 30's. This could be his last contract.
  3. Then that's a poor GM using his limited resources under the cap unwisely. Why would you pay Masoli the big bucks just to sit him as a backup? You could use the money instead to sign other veterans or shore up a couple of other areas in free agency. Masoli is going to want what other starters are making so I'd say a minimum of $500,000. There is no way Evans plays if Masoli signs. And no, he won't come cheaper to Hamilton & why should he when teams like Ottawa & Toronto are out there?
  4. Because he'd be a starter with other teams. I don't get why you can't understand that Evans doesn't want Masoli to sign & automatically take away his starting job. Evans played very well & got them to a Grey Cup which Masoli never did for Hamilton. Besides, if they sign Masoli then he'll make much more than Evans & be the starter.
  5. Your last sentence. Most coaches prefer calling the plays from upstairs. They can see the entire field & what the opposition is doing. And yes, there are less distractions than on the sidelines. Sounds like LaPo will have an offensive coach upstairs telling him what he sees.
  6. How can anyone say LaPo didn't call a great game in the GC? Even when we win a championship after 29 years, some people just aren't satisfied.
  7. I don't think so. Part of it is the coaching cap. More experienced coaches make more money. The other part is Dave Dickenson is the OC so if Costanza & Dinwiddie want to be OC's somewhere then they have to leave.
  8. Yeah, the guy can do great things but only if the ball is coming his way. He was wasted in our offense. I hope we re-sign him.
  9. For once I agree with you. But just this once. Don't think I'm going soft or anything like that. 😉
  10. They have Evans who will only get better with more experience. I can't see both being there. Financially & from a playing situation it doesn't make a lot of sense to have both of them. That would be a toxic locker room. I bet the moment Masoli signs that Evans would demand a trade.
  11. Why would Hamilton sign Masoli? He is expensive while the Ti Cats still have Evans on his intro deal. I think there's a slim chance they sign Masoli. He'll go to the team that pays him the most.
  12. Unfortunately some people do post strange things here so maybe if you want sarcasm use a winking smiley next time so we don't think you're crazy.
  13. If they let Nichols go then they better sign a veteran like Masoli to take his place as Streveler isn't ready to be #1. He needs another veteran in front of him. He's at his best when he comes in with a package.
  14. He was OC when he was HC here so I'm sure he'll do the same in Ottawa.
  15. Damned fine sci fi writer. Her best may have been City On The Edge Of Forever on Star Trek: TOS.
  16. Collaros is a FA. No one would trade for him when they can just sign him. But apparently going to TO as a FA. Why he'd want to be part of that clown show is beyond me. I know his family is there but lots of players play away from home. His choice, I guess.
  17. Yes, but I think you know what I meant. We really didn't see the full extent of our offense until Collaros took control. He & Streveler were brilliant. Nichols play never seemed to reach the level we saw in the playoffs. The offense seemed to suit Zack's style of play to a tee.
  18. LaPo came under harsh criticism here by me & others on a daily basis but this playoff season when it counted he guided our offense brilliantly. He was a huge reason why we won the Grey Cup. As I criticized him then I can sure can give him credit where credit is due in winning our championship. I wish him well in Ottawa.
  19. I guess it depends if any of the coaches aren't under contract.
  20. the one thing career coaches do is move. It comes with the territory. So, he could leave. Not saying he will but he could.
