2024/2025 Blue Bombers Off-Season Thread
SpeedFlex27 replied to TBURGESS's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The Eagles have a tremendous OL. . Add tto that a running back like Barkley & no one can stop their run game. Our OL is old, we have an undersized & overrated Center in Kolankowski & a Guard in Neuf who has seen better days. No comparison. Having said that, it still was a better alternative running the ball than letting Zach come back in with a badly mangled finger throwing 2 six picks to blow a close game wide open. Cue the Osh smirk. -
2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season Thread

Never understood why the first thing a player, coach or GM wants to do is stick it to his old team. The one that gave them their start or made a name for themselves. Does Ted Goveia not have evaluation reports on other CFL free agents? BS. -

How happy will Brady be sharing the run game with Logan? This is the final year of his two year deal. -

He's changed his fundamentals. He doesn't throw the same way he did in 2018 & 19. Strev's not a linear qb anymore. He's now a rotational thrower. -

Would it have been any better here if he had been hired as the Riders HC last year? He's gone. He left. I hope we kick his ass every game we play them. -

I'm with you On the fence. He has to finally show he can play in the CFL. Run every play or why bother? Just keep Streveler as the short yardage qb, Promote Wilson or Dolegala to #2. -

Jackson should have been the OC but it's Osh. Wait for 3 months just to promote from within. -

Deals falling apart?? I'd love to see Hervey & Goveia with egg on their face. -

Well, don't hope too much. Buck was a mentor to Hogan. He coached in that offense for years under Buck. Anyone who thinks he'll be vastly different should think again. -

Actually, it's about a $170,000 question. Buck destroyed him that game. -

No kidding. But according to Goalie, Walters will just sit on all this money throwing $100 bills around like $100 lb rocks. Maybe he'll use that money to redecorate his office. He's gone as he wants to play with his brother in Edmonton. Knowing the Elks, they'll cut Tre in training camp. -

Goveia, the lazy man GM. Other than Lawler, most of the former Bomber signings are **** anyway. -

Good ol' Scarf Boy Randy Ambrosie & I think Solomon Elimimian of the CFLPA. -

More like Hamilton can't do their own scouting. You'd think Walters would have wanted to sign a couple of these guys that left. -
I am/was a Shaw customer. My huge peeve is having to wait literally hours to speak to a customer service rep. I've been having billing issues with Rogers/Shaw & I can never speak to anyone. My longest wait time was last November. I phoned at 8 am MST & finally talked to someone around 3;35 PM or so. I had to keep my phone plugged in all day. These big telecommunication giants don't give a **** about their customers once they sign you up.

He never was but when called upon he was a reliable & tough receiver. I thought that when they moved the hash marks closr that we may see him break out but nevr happened. -
There's no competition in Canada anymore. Rodgers & Telus have the market. They can pretty well do what they want.

Salary Cap goes up 10% after "historic" revenues in 2025

The timing sucked. It's caused problems from what I've read. Teams were unprepared for the news. There's talk of the CFL changing their financial year to after the Grey Cup instead of December 31st to avoid things like this happening again. -

Yesterday morning. All the teams were all caught off guard. The CFLPA & CFL bungled it the way they always do. Both knew the cap was going up but chose not to tell anyone until yesterday. Now things get interesting. Will the Bombers go after Lawler to get him back? Same with Dobson? Will they try to sign other free agents on February 13th? If the Bombers offer him a contract & it's what he wants he'll talk to us. Everything has been thrown wide open by this astounding salary cap increase. -

A couple of years ago, my son had flown to Winnipeg from Seattle to visit family. On his way back, he had to change planes in Vancouver. His late afternoon/early evening flight out of Winnipeg was late leaving & he missed his connection to Seattle. Westjet gave him taxi & hotel vouchers to stay at a hotel in Vancouver where he could catch another flight to Seattle in the morning. When he checked into his hotel, he found out that all the electricity was turned off because of renovations & he had to use his phone's flashlight to move around in his pitch black hotel room.

BC Lions owner Doman is a rich owner & has a lot of cash. We're flush with cash as well after so many great seasons. With the Grey Cup here, I was hoping we'd use a bit of that money to go after some CFL free agents but it doesn't look like Walters will. I'm not an advocate of cheating but WTH??? if other teams are doing it then we should be as well especially this year. I know loyalty doesn't count for much with players these days with the 1 year contracts but dammit, we stood by him as a team & as a fanbase after that DUI & broken arm. Guess it works one way. Just let him go wherever he wants. I could care less. -
2024/2025 Blue Bombers Off-Season Thread
SpeedFlex27 replied to TBURGESS's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Thank you but I already knew that however I appreciate your explanation. My cynicism comes from the fact that reports from TSN reporters like Farhan Lalji & Dave Naylor as well as social media stories all said that last season the BC LIons were considerably over the cap to the point that they may lose a draft pick. That would be in the neighbourhood of $100,000 or more. Vancouver was hosting the Grey Cup last season & Lions owner Amar Doman's team was hell bent on getting his team into the game to ensure a sell out. He didn't care financially how much he was over when it came to the salary cap. Teams don't care about losing a draft pick anymore. Why should they when they can poach a bunch of players to make up for it in free agency? It seems that this type of thing is going on more & more so as a fan it's hard for me to trust that other teams aren't doing it as well.
