  1. It's impossible (nearly) to cover. He's running away from the defender and, as long as the QB puts it in the right place, the defender can't get close enough without risking PI. It's also unique to the CFL because of the size of the endzone. The NFL sees a lot more on the line, reaching out of bounds, type passes. EDIT: Also, the defender can't cheat because Denmark can just turn and the defender would be stuck way out there, leaving Denmark for an wide open catch. Denmark is great at running routes.
  2. I think Trouba is serious when he says he's under contract and not looking for an extension. My guess is that he doesn't not sign an extension, hoping to improve his numbers again, boosting his contract value even more. Of course, if he's willing to listen, maybe Jacob gets paid this summer.
  3. Jets were not allowed to make an offer. That was confirmed by both sides.
  4. Chevy gets a number from Chipman each year. Chevy doesn't pick the number, he just works within it. Considering he thought he would be paying Trouba a lot more, so probably budgeted that way. Ron Hainsey played over 900 NHL games before playing in a single playoff game. He got paid and has never won.
  5. If players got paid to win, all the contracts would would reflect that. They don't. Players get paid whether they win or lose. If Chevy didn't have the budget to pay a goaltender, then who's fault is it?
  6. No, pro players do not get paid to win. If they did, everyone would be paid in the playoffs and have huge incentive based contracts. They're paid to be at the rink. The teams are banking on them have the drive and talent to get better and make the team better. What was Chevy's budget last year? Maybe he wanted to get a better back-up goalie but couldn't afford him. How would Chevy know how much Trouba was going to cost. I bet he figured he would be paying him twice as much starting a long term deal. The expectation of the club, as was stated before the season even started, was for the group to develop. The unspoken idea was that the Jets were not going to make the playoffs. Mission accomplished, unfortunately. Chevy couldn't trade in the offseason for a quality (ie expensive) back-up or sign one and risk losing them this spring. He managed his budget, expecting to pay Trouba more and hoping Helle would play 60 games, with Hutch the rest and everything would work out. You don't think Chipman went into this season knowing the risk in net? You don't think Chipman went in knowing that this was a development year? Chevy's done exactly what they've asked, with the budget they've provided. Why would they fire him? He may have even exceeded their expectations.
  7. Silver will not like this. It makes the NBA look bad. Yes, most teams do this but you don't admit it.
  8. Non of drivel makes sense. What do you expect Chipman to do? Call out his GM in the media? Fire him over the mistake? GMs make mistakes all the time. Only one GM will win the Stanley Cup this year, so every other GM should get fired? I mean, what did Bowman do this year? Blackhawks got swept in the first round. Needs to be fired, really. And, how would you know how Chipman holds Chevy accountable? Imagine a world where the owner doesn't tell Joe Public how he handles internal matters. Also, Helle is being paid to play hockey for the Jets. One team wins and one team loses each night. It's not his fault the team assessed him as being further developed than he was.
  9. I think we should take the best prospect on the board. At 13, we're not likely to get someone who can walk into the line-up, so take the player with the best possible upside. We need a LH defenseman today but will we need one tomorrow? That, I'm not certain.
  10. The last president has his loyalty questioned too. Someone even had the gall to hound him for his birth certificate to prove he was born in the US.
  11. More like Spicer. The mouthpiece of the administration (without a hot-clue what's really going on).
  12. Team Canada. Two time Olympic Gold medalist.
  13. He got paid more because he was a free agent coming off a relatively big year.
  14. Who will help provide coverage for the horse racing?
  15. His salary, yes, that makes sense, but not necessarily his salary demands. He was signed two years ago, coming off a big year in Toronto. It makes sense his contract was big. Then he got hurt and had low production last year. If I were the Ti-Cats, I wouldn't be excited to pay him what he was worth two years ago when he signed as a FA.
  16. I envision, on one of his first nights in the White House, Trump wandering around, poking through the storage rooms and stumbling across Nixon's old tape recorders. "Hmm, this might come in handy. I think I'll take it."
  17. Incremental improvements, whenever and however you can. That should be the Bombers goal each and every day.
  18. Looking up and down our current roster of NIs? Yes, I would say he's capable.
  19. I think Walters is expected to bring in competition for all positions, including an area of weakness for the club. At the right price, I don't see how bringing in a capable NI receiver hurts the club?
  20. Not even close. He was signed as a free agent to play in the ECHL or the AHL. He did well and got an opportunity with the Jets.
  21. Sounds like Tulo is off the DL tomorrow and Martin on Thursday. I have tickets for the game on the 26th. I'm hoping to see the stars!
  22. I'm looking forward to Godless (on Netlfix). I'm a sucker for Westerns. From IMDB: Frank Griffin, an outlaw terrorizing the 1880s American West, hunts down Roy Goode, his partner turned enemy. Roy hides out at a ranch as Frank's chase leads him to La Belle, New Mexico - a town mysteriously made up entirely of women. I'm not sure when episodes are being released. (I miss Deadwood)
  23. Clever swerve... no one is talking about Comey anymore.
  24. I remember watching GLOW: Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling when I was young. That and NWA/WCW Main Event filled the void after WWF Saturday Morning Superstars (and the odd Saturday Night Main Event). I'm looking forward to this series.
