  1. Aside from my personal opinions on change I think the 4d etc changes are impossible for the cfl. If we played 4 down football on our current fields it would become arena football. You'd be scoring on every posesion. As it is we've seen a few games this year, when offense was down, with only a couple punts combined. To go 4 downs you would have to shrink the field. you probably need to go down go 11 players too. But most teams share their field with a cis team and usually host hs championship games. Changing the field ruins all of that. Those leagues could change eventually but not that fast. They are low on resources at the best of times. Half the teams in the league can't afford to change their fields whole sale and the newer good stadiums are optimized for the big field. You'd ruin game day experience for 6 to 7k fans in the strongest markets. Aside from all of that You'd ruin watchability for a good year. Coaches would be in a place where they have no idea how to play call game plan or build rosters. You can't mess with the ratio too much either. That would kill grass roots football which is the keystone to getting back viewers in the 18 to 35 target demographic. My personal opinion is that the originality and differences between our game and the us game is what let's it survive. Cfl is faster better to watch and allows the best athletes to excel. It also demands more of players stamina and toughness. I bet every thing that makes me a bomber fan that 3 downs 12 men on the field and the field size and the ratio will not be over hauled. I bet xfl talks return again but that again it's nothing burger when it comes to mergers etc.
  2. I don't think he does either. I doing both jobs is like representing your self as a lawyer. Makes you bad at both jobs. The relationship he seems to have with wade and walters etc isn't easy to replicate. They all get it the culture and love of football. My money is on Lawler for mop of the gc. I think he's gonna have another career game. He's gonna put on a real show.
  3. Good for him he had a moster year in the bcjfl
  4. Tsn wants the cats to win this soo bad I want to puke. Chris van turnstyle
  5. The fact this is coming out now the day of the gc shows that Edmonton isn't a fit for mos culture.
  6. This pre game coverage and tsn pre pre game stuff is all cats. Not a word about the Bombers being the reigning Champs.
  7. I have a hard time seeing them stop our run game with Ted out. And I don't see their ol doing well against our dl. I just couldn't bet against much better line play. But I do agree ham is a very good team and well coached. Banks is a weenie and simoni is a pos but other wise they are much more likeable than the 19 cats. And dl plus rb.
  8. With Laurent out I hope the Bombers booth crew track the cats subs well. They got busted for illegally subbing out nis late in the season I wouldn't be surprised if they try it again
  9. That era argos sure gave a lot to the league. Mos Orlando and pinball. I'd love to see pinball as the commish
  10. Time to make it 12 gc wins let's go blueee
  11. He would be lucky to be on the pr over Kowalski as the 8th best ol.
  12. I think encouraging onside rugby punts would make the game much better.
  13. Us rules and fields have those teams always closer to scoring not Canadian. Just based on the longer field not even factoring in the much higher level offenses at every grass roots level. More schools in Texas and Alabama average 40 plus points than every school in Canada.
  14. Some teams in hs and college are doing this now. The analytics of value for punting is terrible. I would do rugby punts with 2 on side gunners every punt and go for it more on 3rd and less than 4
  15. Thats a good point too. Those two were all in on the cfl going full xfl rules since the first talks.
  16. Idk would he pander soo hard before the gc? Maybe maybe not. I'd like to think not but he's the worst commish in a very long time.
  17. Totally. And that 5th would be wienke. I'd a put Lewis in over Burnham too. Both mtl wrs did a lot more with a lot less qb. Suhk might be the least deserving on the list. Desjarlais is 10x better. I like how neither moc or mor lbers get a spot but alford does. Shows who the real Roy was according to the players.
  18. That's the truth. Especially matching our physicality on the lines and at db wr. Our dbs and wrs are extra physical and make it much harder then oppositions are used to or comfortable with. Every pro linemen has played on a line that was more physical than the opposition. Few dbs and fewer wrs have played as physical as us. And even fewer dbs have played a wr core that blocks and is as physical as ours is. It'll be tough with out Ted but yeah that front 7 is better then its been for a while. Jsk is as good and healthy as he's been since staring here. He's a guy who can single handedly blow up a run play. Jsk and Davis need to have monster games for the cats to have a chance.
  19. On offense I run hurry up none stop. Limit the Bombers ability to many subs as much as possible. I would constantly run heavy packages with wrs and have them run fast out type stuff. Force the d to think about pressure vs contain. Start out focusing on quick short passing stuff. Then use pump and go. Use banks as a distraction in short passes on stuff like that. Finally attacking the 2nd level with timing routes. Especially when the Bombers show blitz. Don't use play action every one knows Hamilton won't commit to the run it just slows down the passing. Ste mostly blocks but mix in some draw plays and jet sweep to white. On defense you play the hbs Sam and s close to the box. Gap cancel on the front have the front try to shed blocks and make tackles but the dbs are the gap back ups. Play a lot of match zone and deep palms. Pattern match Lawler up to the deep dig he runs a lot especially on 2nd downs. Do some vice cover robber with Lawler on 2nd and long. You have to take away the run and the deep ball. Force the Bomber wrs to catch and run for firsts. Finally playing collaros isn't about getting sacks. He will tear the cats up if he runs and throws. Push the pocket back on him and use contain pressure to lure him into deep balls with out throwing lanes that look like 50 50 balls but that your secondary is prepared for.
  20. Soo ***** mad about that. Any thing like that or messing with the ratio or field would be a serious risk to survival of Canadian football. Collaros gets mop biggie modp Bryant mol and mos coach of the year. Alford should've been rookie but pretty good.
  21. Even if they are running, I would expect to see a lot of run blitzes. As others have said, the cats only prayer is if they can get the short passing game going and chain together first downs. Which is some thing this D doesnt give up any more, and that the cats couldnt do vs the 19 bombers.
  22. I think thats about right. STE at rb and back up in at dl. Which is a huge drop off on D. As for O, I dont think they will run more than 12 times any way. But I do like jackson a lot more.
  23. If biggie and mos dont win dopty and coach of the year thats some all time highway robbery.
  24. Inb4 we have to send a million bucks to the argos because they have no fans and need to go over the cap again to try and buy a contender. Having community owned teams profit share with mega wealthy privately owned teams is idiotic. The league was propping up teams for years, its all the same thing by another name. Gotta off set rogers spending 200m on the jays 2022 roster. If any thing the league needs to do better by the players. Most if not every star in the league just took a pay cut this year after getting nothing in 2020. The NFL is making significant raises to PR money for the next 4 years. And we have the XFL and USFL in the next 2 years. Not to mention they just played a shortened schedule with multiple 3 games in 6/7 day stretches, and dealt with all the covid procedures. Rather than prop up the corpse of a dead franchise (toronto) or give free money to the super wealthy, we should give back to our players. Revenue share with the players, and move the vet guarantee date waay up. The league can afford to lose a team. The league can not afford to float money to teams with cash rich owners. With no toronto the league continues. With no prairie teams it doesnt. This isnt about getting cash to mtl, or bc, its all about TO. Right now that ownership group has been the worst move the league has made in a long long time.
  25. The quality and depth the OL has now is insane. I havent seen an OL soo good and deep. But now so is running back. And we have arguably 3 elite wrs who are hold overs. They play book has evolved and improved soo much this year. At times we've seen brilliant wrinkles like the quick wr screens vs edm in the first game, or the PA timing routes to demski, or the pa digs to lawler and bailey, the jet motion screen, and in general the best down field passing big play threat we've seen since prime khari to milt. I think sayles is still a great db and I miss having him. But Idk if he could take a spot this year. The dbs have been insane. And again, especially with rose back, the depth is off the charts. The versatility is huge too. Darby would be one of the top couple of Ss in the league, and BA is the best. We are seeing maybe the best version of Biggie ever. Jeffcoat is having a career year, stove is at his best (which is scary good), and we have great depth on the DL too. Kongbo and sayles have been tremendous when given consistent reps. The depth and progress of hold overs is why the canadian mafia are going from a championship winning group, to a dynasty group.
