  1. Blames his wrs for not catching enough 50 50 balls. But it plays into his martyr complex.
  2. Lawler is a great wr. I would pay 250k a year for the right wr. But that wr would have to be dynamic with the ball in his hands. Milt level of greatness alone would also do it. He would still get the same nfl window while under contract. Same as any one else now. The thng is the production He would see in bc with no ol more than questionable qbing and the two no1 wrs would kill his nfl chances. He didn't get an offer off this year. He wouldn't see near the same touches in bc. They are ni. And they are growing every year but they aren't ready to Start in tandem. No need go coddle ba. And our defense needs him as much as any player.
  3. That is good logic on paper. But unless you have the ol the rest of the pieces don't much matter.
  4. Nah that oline was putrid. It wasn't Reilly. The bad side tackle.
  5. Pretty much. After schiltz you have vets who barely have a pulse. If he's terrible what do you call brown and McGuire? 😄
  6. Tough to say. He's a big db but he's mostly been a corner iirc. He has the physical tools thatd be pretty good. Tough to compete for them when they already have the 2 most over rated over paid dbs in the league.
  7. Shiltz is an interesting one. Don't blame him for trying fa. Could be a prized back up on the contenders. Or could get a starting job in ott.
  8. I wonder if the Bombers go after derrick moncrief again. Darby was great at sam but he'd be as good at half if he comes back. Moncrief and ba are the two best fa dbs available and moncrief fills that new generation big sam who can fill run fits even better. I'd love to see ba Darby moncrief rose Nichols Taylor and maston as our dbs going into camp next year. At the same time the Bombers seem like they can find great young dbs and develop them well.
  9. Thing is he was reported that he was slow in camp with the bills and then banged up. He's young to have lost a step but he was never fast he is big and he has been injured. Any team that signs him should work him out first. Amazing talent questionable head and questionable body. The riders gave him stupid pro rated money I don't think any one is going to give him that kind of money. I'd take Lawler lucky Lewis weineke and Burnham over what i saw from Duke last year. Lewis lucky Lawler and wenieke could kick it into another gear still.
  10. I for sure wanted duke. Thing is, he looks like he's lost more than a step, and was a real bag of dicks with the riders. Maybe he's a guy who would fall in line with fifo. Could be one of those agitators you love to have and hate to play against. But at his reduced speed and questionable health he's a high risk high reward player. I wouldnt want to pay him elite money at this point. If duke williams is comparable money to walker, and he'd fit the locker room then sure. If he's significantly more money than the guys in the walker tier Id pass even if he is a locker room fit. And I dont think he'd be a locker room fit.
  11. Enjoy a year of running to the sidelines after going 2 and out while the team flips between the corpse of trevor harris' career and rourke. If we are gonna spend money to replace lawler with a high level FA weineke is the guy Id go for. Young and with tons of up side. Jaelon acklin or steven dunbar would be good too. One of those could possibly save room vs a guy like burnham too. More likely and to me preferable (out side of getting weineke) is one or maybe even 2 low risk high reward guys. RJ harris, BJ cunningham, huff or ambles, or posey. Even guys like ellingson and walker from edmonton are due to take a real pay cut. And walker is still like 30 too. If we return to camp with Lawler, Bailey, demski and woli then the front office has worked some real magic. I wouldnt be surprised if mcknight would be penciled in as the new no5 wr especially if darvin isnt retained.
  12. Nichols play was tremendous. Perfect coverage, last second tip to save a score. But the immaculate interception I mean, I might not live long enough to see another play like that in a big cfl game. Little on to seal a championship game in OT.
  13. True true. Or we could go back to back to back to back to back to back. Then we beat the edmonton dynasty record too. Too greedy?
  14. mmm winning. better make it back to back to back.
  15. Kicking wise yes. However his punts were bad all year long. Tbh I'd rather see him on the pr or ir for a year and focus on kicks than see him punt or kick off again this year.
  16. So the XFL in a single year dug up 10 TEs who fit the bill, and I didnt go through all the TEs each team took to camp. Included in that group is a 265lbs 6'5 guy who ran 4.46, a nearly 6'7 255lbs te who ran 4.47. They also found a nearly 6'9 guy who ran a mid 4.6 40. All of these guys played for relative peanuts in a start up spring league. And for comparison, our wr core is made up entirely of guys who ran 1 very high 4.5 and mostly mid 4.6 to 4.7 guys.
  17. Take a look at my post with the example and the draft combines. Literally tons of them kicking around out of the nfl. Teams have brought in nfl experienced and higher end ni tes but they don't last because they don't use them. Just like teams don't make good use of kr on offense and more. It's not a lack of talent available every team is stuck in the same rut running the same offense looking for the same types. No they aren't. NFL teams do not stock pile pass catching tes by and large. Most every team has 1 or 1 developmental guy. Not a few. By goal line it's more like inside 10 yards. We haven't done great at connecting reliable passes for scores in deep. Pounding it in is good if you are 1st and goal from inside the 5.
  18. Harris as a te hback flanker would be tight. Kinda crazy how they don't use willy in goal line pack. A lot of te tweeners would tear it up too. Guys who could flex out more. A lot of really good 6 foot to 6 2 240 and under highly skilled two way tes who never get looks. From mtls situation sure. From Jake's if he got lawlers role and touches he'd be in the nfl.
  19. Next up duron Carter and sj Green. I dont remember Jones being a dumpster diver for ancient vets.
  20. Did you coach more than 20 years ago and was it in Canada? Cus that would explain a lot besides most of these big athletic tes hit a late growth spurt and get jacked post hs or late hs. You would be stunned by the number of phenoms that fall through the cracks in d1. Seriously you could make a full pro bowl roster of kids who couldn't make school work and or had home life problems that took them away from football. Football does a worse job than any other north American sport of pulling those kids up. It's not like the 80s when guys started 4 and 5 years in college while not being able to read. A better none school alternative to juco would be the real start up football league thatd succeed. Late and end hs kids who aren't cut out for school getting paid to play and developing for the nfl and cfl. You aren't wrong about big soft kids. That's a story as old as time. But you don't have to be tough at 6 5 250 to beat up on cfl Sams. Or even wil and macs.
  21. Bucky hodges is 26 been out of football since end 2019. 6 foot 6 260 4.5 40 40 inch vertical 134 inch broad jump. Good pass catching te. Go look at the bottom draft and un drafted for 3 years before him. You'll come up with a dozen elite big athletes at te under 30 out of football. Go down to 4.6 and 4.7 40 range or down to sub 250 lbs sub 6 foot 5 and you can find excellent route runner and pass catchers. They aren't guys who can block down a 250lbs nfl rusher though 1 on 1. The nfl hates situational players. 3rd down backs n such.
  22. That's simply not true. Tons of athletic big flex tes are available. It's deeper that rb. Last time this came up I posted 5 guys who blew away that standard. Nfl teams don't carry many tes and more most teams roster 1 pass catching te these days. In our wr core demski is about the fastest. Most wrs are not 4.4 guys any more. Tes not wrs. Ya there are literally lots of guys lost as big athletic tes. It's easily the most abundant athletic position in football.
  23. Qft. Imagine a team bringing in a 6 foot 5 250 lbs guy who runs a 4.5 40 and teams trying to defend that with a 5 foot 10 195lbs Sam. The us game especially the nfl used to be behind the cfl in terms of offensive innovation. But not the cfl offense is stagnat and the nfl has way more advanced and creative offenses. They run the spread better than cfl teams now. Mostly they run flex spreads with a te but that a lone would tear it up up here. 15 ish years ago cfl was more interesting to watch than it is now. We used to have teams running match zone or 3 4 front or cover 0 bend but don't break etc. Now all the defenses play similarly just with slight variations in cover frequency. The fits are all the same. Some teams just play the run better. Offenses are the same. 5 by 1 mostly some faking of an 11 formation mostly with a wr on the line. Lots of tight wr formations and tight zone running. Remember when the renegades had a fun to watch offense with kj running rpo and qb option with ranek? Or the als running 5 verts. 2 back power and split zone with 2 running backs playing off each other. If the cfl wants to hit the younger demographic teams should get out of the vanilla and back to the creative.
  24. I thought it was this or push his way to a decent team with a half decent ol. Maybe he comes back, idk when he'd be eligible as a FA. Like obby kahn did when he left here and went the to stamps. BC is in an interesting position. I imagine they just became the primary target of trevor harris and leverage point for MBT. Or a reason for masoli to get the jab.
