Creative and interesting play designs / schemes
wbbfan replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This isn’t about us running said plays. This is general application to the Canadian game. offensive creativity has become incredibly stagnant. shovel pass is a great wrinkle to mix in occasionally for a team that doesn’t do any thing like that. Especially if said team struggles in the red zone. It’s probably the easiest option to defend. This is what I see. Gray should be a rt long term and would be fine as a guard if we weren’t banged up / struggling especially inside. Both he and Nuefeld seem to be trying to cover pick up assignments and leaving gaps open. Might’ve fifo’d him self out of a job. Sad. -

He will probably be primed for a multi year extension in the off season if he keeps playing well. The ability to contribute on teams and heavy set as an imp wr is tremendous too. -
2022 CFL Free Agency(Rumors/official signings)

Desjarlais is soo young for his amount of pro experience if he doesn’t become a starter he will be back in 3 ish years at latest. He deserves a good shot at the nfl. He’s starter calibre imo. Who knows how things wil go. kongbo I like our chances of seeing back this year. Alford while small I think his level of play for age and experience will have him atleast on a pr most or this year. -
Yeah he’s Polynesian. Don’t think the specifics were released.

Probably a second spitter too.

Houston did draw in for a couple games too. But miller was the worst of them. at the end of the day houston has been very good this year. And that’s what’s important. -

Easy to see how he could’ve been preoccupied mentally and not ready. -
We get your pain. Mike Kelly era was similar for us. Hopefully your franchise decides to put a higher value on character soon.
-
True but he should be a dc in the league imo. Last I heard he was coaching junior in bc

Earlier in the year it wasnt brown doing the short yardage. It was the bigger dakota who was horrid at short yardage. -
I was thinking last night, one day he's gonna get fired in calgary. And man I look forward to that day. I see a lot of don mathews in him. But I had a lot more respect for the don.

The bombers d has given up 2 tds in the 4th q this year and scored a td on a pick 6 in the 4th. But oh the stamps are such a good 4th q team. -

lol! I mean imagine how much more agudosi could've developed to this point. But yeah, maybe he wasn't ready and I'm sure he has. From every thing I've seen and heard he is one of the hardest working most studious bombers. That said, mcknight was never ready either. Gotta love a big smooth guy with that work ethic and toughness. What a combo. On the first play through I thought it was offensive PI. On the replay before the break I thought they had their hands tied up and that the DB initiated contact. Second viewing I thought it should be let go. But he is a real strong guy. A tiny tug on the shoulder can put a db out of the play. The post break replays made it look like it was obstructed and no way to call either way. Least I recall a break at the challenge. I still have to rewatch the game. Also what zach is doing this year, is more impressive than his MOP season last year. No harris, struggling ol, lots of wr turn over, no problem. -
As long as collaros can run for his life and make magic happen. And as long as he doesn’t have to by the time ldc and bjb come around. If he still does by then he’s gonna get marino’d as will our season.

No one is breaking multiple tackles at the line or as they get the ball. -
When 6 blockers are getting beat by 3 rushers before an intermediate route can develop pass pro is struggling.

Depth. He also played with a 4th string ol at best. Strong explosive ni rbs aren’t easy to find. And at this point we are thin when it comes to starting ni flexibility. What do you do if One ni rb goes down and ba is healthy? he isn’t a tackle. He’s 100% an interior ol. Why we insist on using him at te is beyond me. Last year we moved Eli inside to guard and slide Bryant down to te. The whole inside of the ol isn’t good enough. Kola is slow and snaps inconsistent. He’s not a starters c in the cfl. -

Right now our ol is not capable of running the tight zone scheme we’ve dominated with for several years. Kola and neuf right now are not quick or mobile enough. If we run any one through a gap power or tight zone etc they are gonna get smashed. Could be the best power back in history in their prime and they aren’t beating two and three tackles in the back field or at the line. Brady isn’t quick enough to run reliably off tackle. And Augustine isn’t power full enough to run that inside stuff and break one tackle. atleast until our ol is healthy/fixed we need adjustments. The good news is we’ve been seeing more and more of them. We saw Augustine run 0 power which is targeted at the tackle 2 or 3 times to good effect. We saw him run out side zone a couple times in the last couple weeks to moderate effect. Mid zone and wide zone would be good to take advantage of Augustine’s ability to cut and explode as well as win the race to the edge. Counter would be good and maybe even a true wildcat with a direct snap to Augustine and a flip option to grant. grant should get more touches as he’s probably our toughest guy to tackle as well as being dynamic and a north south runner. It looks to me like buck is slowly working these changes in and that as the season goes we will see the offense shift. The ol has been here forever and it takes time to build high quality execution in new schemes. that will fix the second and long issues. I’m not sold on Augustine in pass pro he makes a lot of mistakes still. But physically he is capable and we will only see if he can improve with reps. this isn’t the Harris era any more. We don’t have a back who can do it all at an elite level. And worse yet we don’t have an elite ol either. We should look at bringing in imp balanced / power backs incase the ni system fails mid season. It’d be pretty easy to find an imp rb who can pass block break tackles in the cfl and get the edge In a foot race.
