  1. The only down side is NFL cut down day from tc this year is scheduled for the 29th of august. The guys we have coming in to the league who aren’t getting nfl deals will maybe come up for the final roster expansion if we are lucky. Nfl cuts will no longer return and play hurting over all league talent. If you are going to move it earlier, I’d aim to finish the regular season before nfl camp. This is the crappy middle ground the cfl always has to deal with nhl over lap and nfl tc.
  2. It’s a bit different angle to the qb as well since you see much less te sets plus less running game in general. A big under rated factor on D is you can see insanely long drives that you don’t see down south. Football iq is a big factor. Guys have to be smart and disciplined. If they are they can perform at a high level almost right away.
  3. 100%. When I see a 6’0 linemen or wr succeed and become a prospect at the level of high upside oversized guys I expect the 6’0 guy to over achieve. Des in specific should be rated more like basketball players. Used to be you had to be 6’10+ to be a pf or c in the nba. Till teams finally recognized that 4 inches of forehead doesn’t do much, where as 4” of standing reach / wing span does. Habba has been excellent so far and we’ve seen a bunch of 6’ and under dl excel for the bombers in the past. Lower centre of gravity and the ability to get under tall guys is a huge advantage. Two of his sacks came from him basically ducking under the arms of tall tackles.
  4. I wish they would break down over all scores into sun categories. Size and athleticism shouldn’t be mixed.
  5. Exceptional pick up. Much better than old man lemon imo. Big de and exceptionally good pass rusher. Under rated hands, great size, exceptional quick twitch guy. You can’t teach that type of explosiveness.
  6. Considering we brought in 4 different modes, it’s not the gm lol. No, but any hc could’ve won with the 19 run and 21 gc roster. It’s not patience when you’re dealing with a none pro quality player / none starter quality in this league. We keep running out the same ol and people will change their tune, again, very quickly. Win going into a bye and people forget the massive bullet we dodged when collaros limping in ott idk if Bennett took a step forward, or if he was just playing against some burned toast. But at this point I don’t hold much hope of him being a fraction as good as kongbo at any point in his time here.
  7. They don’t value ford. Prukop isn’t 30+ lol. Both are low wear and tear guys. They need qb protection more than any thing as well.
  8. Not surprising, a lot of his success has come with a super heavy set late in games. Out side of that he’s been getting creamed in the back field with regularity.
  9. Not when other teams scout our cuts and do extremely well. Also, cfl teams don’t have extensive practice film. 90% of all film teams have is from tsn cameras. They get un cut and wide angles etc we don’t get. But teams are lucky to have one guy with a cam out side of that teams that don’t develop the next QBs quickly sink back to the bottom of the standings. Dynasties ALL develop their next qb. The guy who replaced Peyton was pretty good too it’s pretty easy really. We had a stretch of some of the best drafts in history that saw us pumping out excellent starters with rounds 1-3 including rolling over TON of high end ni ol. Book end that with the greatest qb come back of all time and two of the best imo tackles of an era and fantastic cfl free agent pick ups like biggie Willy and a few dbs. The 19/21 rosters were insanely deep. We had back ups and multiple starters jump to the nfl. More than the previous 20 years worth of teams. And refuse to make use of a naturalized ni, or dress no back up cover guys, dbs, start dead weight lbers etc. walker has become more productive and that’s great. But the problem still exists and is the same as last year when we had sayles who was even better. This D needs a nose. walker isn’t soo good that he offsets that loss. He’s gone from a none factor to good in a couple games. The last time we had a qb get hit soo frequently on a regular basis drew Willy happened. And the last time collaros was hit this much the world thought his career was over.
  10. I think a strong kr/rb especially an athletic ni is the perfect guy to train for these kinds of roles.
  11. As in what we were offering and what he was going to get was too much. The riders seemed prepared for him to walk.
  12. I get it. For me, it’s a reverse onus on mos. He’s made soo many bad roster management moves and hand cuffed our depth soo much that he doesn’t get any benefit of the doubt. When it comes to culture and his drive and commitment sure. He made that weird jump from sts coach to hc and was bad at roster construction and management. And he hasn’t improved at those facets at all.
  13. Lmao, mmm no I don’t think that counts. His first trade in edm was actually mike Moore for offensive pieces though. Idk jones is crazy fickle. And I’m sure he knows his cfl career is on the line and in hot water right now. Crazy desperate guys do crazy desperate things. it was pretty widely viewed out west that he was too expensive and replaceable. Jones has always treated dl as expendable. Though to be fair coaching and developing dl is what he’s best at.
  14. You’re right. He may not be able to do those things. In fact I would say he almost certainly lacks at those now. The question is can you develop those skills. At his age you should be able to polish him some. Where as prukop, is well past that point. Even if it’s a chance of upside that’s more than no chance of upside, for the same ability. I don’t think there is a chance we would’ve brought him in if that was the case. Players go through a lot of vetting with old coaches and team mates before getting signed. Especially guys on the NL for a year plus. Also if he was toxic, he wouldn’t have made it out of mini camp, tc or through two pre season games and onto the active roster. No chance. I think it’s pure and simple familiarity breeding laziness. To me he’s replacement level. Fly in any imp and you won’t do worse. I wouldn’t give him reps over a young guy personally.
  15. Because they need future value and depth. A soon to be 30yo dl isnt what you build around. And Chris jones believes he can go through dl like nfl teams go through RBs. That’s why he let go of Willy j for nothing. He doesn’t value imp dl. Or ni dl for that matter. He’s actually traded defence for offense a bunch of times. Just not at positions he values highly.
  16. I suggested some thing similar in the bombers thread, but I would kick in kola and want ford. I think jones is crazy enough to go for it. He was average last year as well early on he was running way to high and struggled as well. Outside of when it counts, early on, and most recently, he didn’t suck. He did what pigrome did with Ottawa. It’s a free project because he can do exactly with poopkup can do, but cheaper. Short yardage as a full time dedicated roster spot is insane as well. In the cfl you need all the qb depth you can get. In general in football your qb fortunes can turn on a dime and your franchise with it. Qb sneak is the easiest damn play in football. It’s 99% ol and 1% not messing up. Holder on fg kicks, long snapper etc are way more important.
  17. I’d do some thing based around prukop, kola, and Bennett For Ford, Ceressna, plamondon, and maybe pick/NL considerations. Neufeld and Thomas have done a lot and it’d be great to let them go out on their own terms. But as this point I wouldn’t hesitate to move either as well.
  18. Couldn’t be. Poopkup manages it like it’s his whole career. F$&@ing one miss in one game then done. 🤐
  19. Walker isn’t bad rotating at the end as well. Tbh I’d rather get a proper nose, and give Lawson heavy reps with very limited action for Thomas than fix the edge. Hansen and Habba will be good to go. I’d be fine with maruo rotating at the edge in the mean time too. The problems on the dl are bennett, Thomas and not having a nose. We could also make do more with out the nose with stunts and stealing out side gaps with a tite front using 4i, even just better executed fill and fold from our gap cancelling lbers/dbs. Soo often we have guys for gaps and they get washed out or take them self out of the play. They know the gap but don’t read it or execute exchanges worth a damn. I don’t think if this more more on Paterson, jy or Stanley as positional coaches, but over all after this long Hall should be fixing it. Tackling, contain, tackling angles, and gap play with in our scheme have been getting worse and worse. And this is all down to coaching.
  20. I feel like nis get away with more dirty stuff.
  21. Maybe offer to pay half of jones’ cap hit too lol. Kola Bennett and walker.
  22. It is though. Every team has a couple now.
  23. 1 lawler and Demski all the catches 2 Willy and walker 3 Brady killing the clock 17-110 hh cam Lawson with the pick crunch cadwallader with the big hit on teams mr.AWEful award to Chris jones the smart play of the game parker keeping the ball in the end zone block of the game to Eli with the big block to open the gap for Brady’s first down run
  24. Houston gets some. looks like a punt prayer toss
