  1. Let's make it official! That would be nice. At that point would the bombers need to sign a single free agent?
  2. After 6 championships. It's a different situation because it's really just one season of feeling underpaid rather than a 7 year deal taking away the prime earning years of Scottie Pippen. Who knows what Schoen is thinking? Maybe he prefers to play out his option and then hit free agency for top dollar.
  3. I don't want to cheap out there either. But I feel that we should be able to recruit and replace from within. We are doing pretty good elsewhere in finding import talent that is new to the CFL. You don't want to rely on free agency.
  4. Could be a situation that once they know more about how much cap space has been created by injuries ect they can give him a bonus on this year's cap with an extension. I would think that there will be some more significant change for the 2024 season to fit Lawler's extra 40k or so and potentially another 100k for Schoen. Potentially one of the tackles retiring and replacing with league minimum would resolve most of this.
  5. Unless the plan is to take advantage of this opportunity to build the best possible team for this season to win the Grey Cup. He can be our Scottie Pippin.
  6. Bombers should hire me to play on the defensive line. Pretty sure id get hurt on the first play of the game.
  7. Based on our depth across the board I think we basically pick the best player available through the draft. With perhaps a slight bias towards a receiver and defensive line. I really need to wrap my head around the exact nuances of the new nationalized import rules. The idea is that a nationalized import can sub in for an injured canadian starter. Does that mean that Bighill has no value as a nationalized import since he's already starting? Does it only have value when a designated import is a nationalized import? Or can you essentially bring in any DI to replace Thomas if he gets injured so long as you have one or more nationalized imports on the starting defense?
  8. https://www.cfl.ca/draft-tracker/ Does anyone know why we have the 6th pick in the 2nd round?
  9. On the subject of our offensive line. I could see O'Shea making Eli wait his turn even if he is the best center in camp. I think it could tick off some players who got jabbed against their desire for the team if Eli could take a year off and then come right back and get a starting job on day one.
  10. Riders might be one of those teams that have to resort to 3 americans on the offensive line. Winnipeg has so much respect right now. Riders probably just signed him thinking that if Winnipeg kept him around he must be decent.
  11. Not sure why the Riders would sign Couture considering Dan Clark is still an option
  12. Just imagine a receiving core featuring demski, Schoen, and Lawler with Collaros at qb.
  13. Harris just wanted to go somewhere where his cheques would cash. I just don't get it. Weineke is an american receiver who has never had 1000 yards in a season and had less than 600 yards receiving last season. This is nuts. At these prices Lawler should be targeting half a million a season. The only thing i can really think of is that Harris could have commanded more but he left some money on the table with a guarentee they would also land Weineke and Lewis.
  14. It will be interesting to see if Montreal actually uses its cap space or go way under the cap to save money. Maybe they are tanking for Kurtis Rourke.
  15. Im trying to figure out how we have money for Lawler. We should have still traded a 6th round global pick for him at the deadline just so we could offer him guaranteed money on the 3rd year.
  16. It's like the league is having a Montreal dispersal draft and every team traded all the picks to the Riders.
  17. This is what i was getting at. You're affected by your view of Ambrosie. And im not a fan of him either. He's a bit of a beta. But that's a separate issue from the subject of whether the league would fold Montreal or float them for a while and find a new owner.
  18. Herb has made a lot of predictions over the years. The cost of losing Montreal is immense as it is written into the TV deal with TSN that the league would lose a significant amount of the revenue if it loses either Montreal or Toronto. I believe it would be more costly to lose that revenue then prop of Montreal for a while while they search for a new owner. Plus they are adding new revenue likely around 4-5 million a year from the US TV deal. Any think of the lost money when the league has to pay Winnipeg to move to the East Division again.
  19. Do we have clarity as to when Schoen's nfl window closes? I keep hearing that it is Feb 9 but I believe Tait said the same day as CFL free agency starts.
  20. I guess BC is looking at running a offense designed for a dual threat QB and Dom Davis is someone who could continue a gameplan designed for their starter should he get injured.
  21. I just don't see the league folding the team. They could more then cover the losses with the new money coming from the US TV deal while they search for a new owner. They aren't going to let this team fold when the fanbase is there and league revenues are growing to a point where a team like this under good ownership can break even or post a profit.
  22. Right i got confused on that one. Im thinking about their new president.
