  1. What this team needs more than anything else is a quarterback. Nichols is ok when he’s healthy which isn’t very often. Streveler is too young and inexperienced and also I think has questionable arm strength. If there’s one thing that would affect change it would be to have a legit starting quarterback. Should be several better options available this offseason. I’m not against changing the coordinators but there’s little point to it if we come back with the same qbs.
  2. If only Laine, heinola and Appleton owned their ahl together. They could be the AHL line.
  3. Pionk looked pretty good to me. If we got Buff back and Niku i feel like we might be ok.
  4. He's definitely the crown jewel of year one of the canadian global initiative. In future years I believe the main source of talent is going to come from NCAA grads who qualify as Global players.
  5. Im aware he's German and not Canadian. Not Cool! Clearly what i'm asking is whether or not a Global player is basically treated like a designated import or whether they could come in for a Canadian starter.
  6. Lets hope Ritchie Hall is a scratch for the game. If you can't practice you can't play! The bombers are considering changing the ratio with Alexander taking reps at safety. Does anyone know if Thedric Hanson could be part of a rotation of having himself, Kongbo, or Thomas on the defensive line at all times or if he basically counts as an american?
  7. Moose should be decent this year. Especially if Comrie gets claimed and Berdin is the goalie.
  8. I'm not sure the Jets wouldn't have been open to a longer term deal with Laine but it wouldn't have worked for the cap because the dollars would have had to be a lot higher. I think he has the desire to become a better two way player and he's certainly made progress in that regard. Its just that with his goals being down last year and him being in his third year people actually were focusing a lot on his two way game. When you're a rookie and scoring 40 goals nobody cares. It takes time especially coming from the large ice surface to the NHL game and after being such a good goal scorer at every level he was probably never pressed too much on his defense until he got to the NHL. He's learning and yah is probably frustrating for him but i believe he's going to get there in time. He's still a kid. He's the same age as Logan Stanley and I'd argue he's better defensively for a forward than Stanely as an NHL defensemen right now.
  9. I just watched the overtime and man was that fun to watch. The energy felt like it was a regular season game. Morrisey is going to have a monster year especially if Buff isn't apart of the team and he on the number one power play unit.
  10. It could be that his defense doesn't produce a lot of turnovers and his special teams doesn't provide good field position either.
  11. There won't be an opening unless Paul Lapolice gets a head coaching offer. But if that happens i defintely think BC would have the edge in hiring Maas and Buck Pierce would take over in Winnipeg.
  12. That one makes the most sense to me. That he would maybe miss the first 20 games or something. I can’t imagine it’s a case where he wants to play but doesn’t want to be a part of this team.
  13. And why would we be trading Buff?
  14. Running speed is way off here
  15. Probably not when Arbuckle will also be available.
  16. 50 million per season. Up from the previous 40 million per year.
  17. It did though. The intentional grounding cost the team 4 additional yards and an extra down. This pushed the team to the brink of field goal range and then on second down we lost additional yards on a run play. I mean we don’t really know what would have happened had we got the holding call instead but let’s face it there’s a reason why they declined the holding and took the intentional grounding call.
  18. I think he mostly gives the team a similar opportunity to win as Nichols. He needs to learn from his mistakes and and think he will. He was playing against two of the top pass rushes in the league and I'm not convinced that our offensive line is good enough in a pass blocking capacity right now. We are awfully young at the two guard positions. He has shown in both starts that when the game is on the line he's capable of putting the team on his shoulders and willing a touchdown drive. He put Edmonton away with one last week and he put the team up on the scoreboard on his last drive this week. I think that his accuracy is something that can be worked with and his ability to read defenses will improve with time. He's just really lacking experience. I mean.. A guy like Cody Fajardo spent 4 years in the CFL/NFL learning before being thrust into action. Streveler is still just one year out of college. Some of the accuracy issues I think are more related to the lack of decisiveness on a certain read rather than a lack of accuracy. His biggest strength is his running ability which is beyond anything i've seen in this league. But that also holds him back a bit because he just doesn't get the passing reps that a guy like Dane Evans would get each game. Probably will take him twice as long to make all the mistakes and see all the things that they are going to throw at you and learn from them. But we gotta keep in mind that Nichols was't passing for 300 yards a game in this offense either. If Streveler passes for 175 and provides his running ability that's pretty much equaling what Nichols was providing IMO. He's be more aware of when we get into field goal range we don't throw a pick and we don't take a huge intentional grounding call. Those small details are where Nichols excels and wins games.
  19. I'm not claiming he's guilty. But Id really need an education on how the masking agents work and how plausible it is that there would be trace amounts of dbol in someones system who was using masking agents. I just get the feeling that the people really using this stuff aren't being caught and the ones who ingest it accidently are being punished.
  20. When you combine that with a more than average amount of 6 game injury list savings and its a nice safety net if they need a player or two down the stretch after NFL cuts.
  21. He wasn’t making the kind of catches he was being paid to make. Darvin was practicing last week.
  22. Well... I kind of feel like he wasn't the best guy around. He came here because he was friends with Brady Oliveira. I doubt he was offered a practice roster spot out of camp. When Brady went down he was brought back to the practice roster likely because he already knew the system and was willing to sit on the practice roster as an emergency replacement type of guy. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing what Johnny Augustine can do and if he's really struggling then you play Santiago. Hope Im wrong. He didn't look bad but that fumble in pre-season really hurt him. I wish we still had Flanders.
  23. Its hard to say in this case but I do feel that he probably wasn't using at least not for a long period of time. There were scandals in the past where people were able to avoid positive tests however most of that was related to Russia and being involved with literally swapping the urine out for clean urine. There is no way that CFL players are operating on this level of conspiracy. I have a hard time believe that Harris would knowingly use and think that he would actually get away with it.
  24. That’s a big if. This team is structured to win despite not getting much from the wh position. If the riders are winning with Fajardo, the Ticats with Evans, and the Als with Adams.... Winnipeg gonna be just fine with Streveler.
  25. The way I’m reading it is that Nichols won’t be back at least for 5 or 6 week however for Glenn to turn it down it was likely a situation where he knew Nichols would be back and Glenn wouldn’t have the chance to lead the team. Either that or his job would have just been insurance in case Streveler gets injured.
