He would take Simonise's roster spot. He can be used in a variety of way and provide insurance should Demski's injury become an ongoing issue.
-
Coombs please!

Bennett to me is a guy who can be a starter in this league and has the experience now to provide some insurance. If Nichols goes down to a season ending injury in week 1 Id much rather have kept Bennett around than McGuire if we can't keep both. I mean we would be down to Streveler with 1 year out of college and McGuire.

I was saying after the first preseason game that is like to see more or Kenny Walker. He’s not the tallest receiver on the team but I like his speed and moxie. -
I think his conditions where that the league ran the team until the offseason and then he would take over and completely gut the operation and bring in his own people... Basically he doesn’t want to buy the team and carry the loss for this season. I just think that the league wants an owner who’s willing to lose money for a period of time. All I’m suggesting here is the team isn’t folding any time soon. The league would have taken whatever he was offering had that been a real possibility.
-
Here's what he said.. "It’s them that really walked away more then I walked away. It’s not the money…it’s about the conditions and timeline to take the team.” I can't imagine if there was any chance of this team folding they would have walked away from this guy's money. The league clearly has an option they prefer at their disposal.

I don't quite see it that way. With the Global iniative the CFL is moving towards being able to have teams that average around 20k fans per game become profitable. Its only going to take a few years and there will be a significant increase coming from the league. The team has been poorly run and with the right owner with the right Montreal based connections I think they will be able to do just fine.
-
Didn't Guzzo say today that he offered the league what they wanted and they turned him down??? So on what planet is this team about to fold ?

Lets pick up Coombs and go with 7 Manitoba based starters!

NFL Coming to Winnipeg for Preseason Game

You're basically paying to be able to say you've seen Antonio Brown and Aaron Rodgers play. -
I would hope that we are going to keep Speller around as well as Eli. I think Speller would have some trade value and also some insurance in case they made the wrong choice going with Couture. I personally feel like Speller is probably the better center but if Couture is going to be a part of this team long term he's gotta win a starting job now and they are going to give it to him even if Speller is on par with him.

If we end up with an all-star calibre offensive lineman with a long career in Winnipeg i think we won that draft compared to what other teams did.
-
The right call on letting him go but not the right call on drafting him.

I think it was confirmed or strongly hinted at from Ambrosie that the CFL would actually be getting paid something this year.

GDT Pre-season Game 1 - Edmonton at Bombers

I don't think they have the budget for a PR QB. But if anything McGuire can get brought back if there is an injury and brought to training camp again next year when at least one of our top 3 qbs are likely no longer here. -

Streveler's job as the backup is really not in question. But it was nice to see Bennett solidify his position on the team. I want to see what this offensive line can do when Gray isn't the longest serving member of the unit. -

Yeah, I can't stand that guy. I talked to him once and I hope I'm never in a position to do so again. He was a great player for the bombers but certainly doesn't deserve a statue. -

I agree with you here. Accuracy can be at the very least be fine-tuned and improved over time. Arm strength is the one that you pretty much got what you got. -

Whitehead certainly has potential and should be kept around but he's not polished in the CF I would let Kenny Walker continue to compete with Lawler at this point. But I completely agree with keeping Whitehead around. -

And Danny Mac still can't find an American receiver who can catch!
