  1. RIP Cassini: http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/cassini-saturn-contaminate-moons-enceladus-titan-1.4287818 What an amazing mission. And a ton of absolutely breathtaking imagery.

  3. http://www.tsn.ca/glenn-s-status-in-question-as-riders-visit-surging-ticats-1.856737 Game-time decision? I think if Jones starts him, it'll end badly.
  4. Chris Walby weighs in on the changes: http://www.winnipegsun.com/2017/09/14/walby-feels-new-rule-will-hurt-not-help-cfl-players
  5. Well, no. Pierce isn't a player anymore and LaPolice was the head coach back then. Not quite the same as players still actively in the same roles as before.
  6. Bishop had Winnipeg on his list of no-trade teams. If he wasn't going to Calgary, no way was Winnipeg an option.
  7. http://www.tsn.ca/drouin-leads-list-of-10-under-pressure-this-season-1.856417 1. JONATHAN DROUIN, Canadiens 2. MIKE SMITH, Flames; STEVE MASON, Jets; BEN BISHOP, Stars 3. STEVEN STAMKOS, Lightning 4. PAUL MAURICE AND KEVIN CHEVELDAYOFF, Jets 5. CLAUDE GIROUX, Flyers 6. RYAN JOHANSEN, Predators 7. BARRY TROTZ, Capitals 8. RYAN NUGENT-HOPKINS, Oilers 9. DOUG ARMSTRONG, Blues 10. MARC BERGEVIN, Canadiens FWIW, I think the bulk of the pressure is on Maurice. Cheveldayoff's made the right moves and given him the tools to succeed, IMO.
  8. http://www.tsn.ca/senators-f-macarthur-fails-medical-not-cleared-to-play-1.856648 More unfortunate news for Clarke MacArthur. Concussions are a stone cold B.
  9. No, I think he's suggesting you have a mistakenly inflated opinion of yourself based on how you worded your first post in this thread. You speak in absolutes and it comes across as though you know better than actual players what is best for them. It also sounds like you're of the opinion things will only get worse because of these changes. On what are you basing that opinion? Up until this change yesterday, teams were only allowed 17 full contact/padded practices per season, anyway. That's not even once per week. And they were optional, meaning that number could be even less. Supposedly, the Stampeders never practice in pads and they're arguably the most fundamentally and technically sound team in the league, when it comes to tackling as well as their offensive and defensive lines' techniques. Does losing 17 (at most) full contact/padded practices over the course of a 20-week (or 21 starting next year) really mean players are going to lose out on important learning? Seems pretty unlikely to me, especially because the players' association is supportive of the change.
  10. Not to mention more expensive for the consumer.
  11. Great re-signing! Little's so underrated. Friendly cap hit and nice term.
  12. Why not just use the team's W logo as the emoji...?
  13. Seems to me the PA and the league agreed to these terms, so the players must be on board with the changes.
  14. It's been a different regime for long enough now. IIRC, the only players still on the roster from the Sleepy Joe Era are Clarence Denmark and Jake Thomas. That's practically a textbook rebuild since Walters took over and O'Shea was brought in as HC. Granted, the team hasn't yet established itself in Stampeders territory (AKA, la creme de la creme of the CFL) but the Bombers are as close as they've been in years. Winning a playoff game is the next step.
  15. The defense giving up big plays remains a concern, no doubt. As for suffering from PTMD (great term, BTW), are you referring to the team itself or yourself?
  16. Well, he's been the DC in charge of some pretty stingy defensive units in Montreal. I'm pretty sure he wasn't fired due to a lack of skill or how well he does his job from a technical standpoint.
  17. The rivalry between the Avalanche and the Red Wings at that time was absolutely incredible. Some wild, wild games/series between those two teams.
  18. Not sure I like this. As long as it's an extra week at the start and not the end. According to the official league press release, it seems to focus on player safety: https://www.cfl.ca/2017/09/13/cfl-cflpa-work-together-deliver-significant-advances-player-safety/
  19. Obviously, there was going to be a decline but this is over-the-top embarrassment. Averaging a new HC basically once a season. How many QBs have come and gone since Calvillo retired? This is legit gong show territory.
  20. http://3downnation.com/2017/09/13/riders-qb-kevin-glenn-not-practicing-third-straight-day/ I can't see him getting the start on Friday in Hamilton.
  21. Rumours abound suggesting he lost the respect of his personnel going as far back as last season. Losing only adds fuel to the fire.
  22. Started watching Ozark on Netflix yesterday. Wild, wild series!
  23. Popp didn't exactly leave much in the cupboards, but I agree. Reed appears to be in way over his head.
