  1. http://ottawasun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/garrioch-sunday-coyotes-have-a-decision-to-make-on-oliver-ekman-larsson Is it just me or does Chayka not have a clue how to manage...?
  2. Boys be ready tonight. Hellebuyck's been a busy goalie, so the team in front better make it as easy as possible for him. Nice to see Lemieux get activated, too.
  3. If Heath were that selfish and only cared about making INTs, he wouldn't be a back-to-back All-Star, much less a highly prized potential free agent.
  4. That's a terrible goal to give up. Another shitty game vs. the Blackhawks.
  5. Too much talking about the captain lately. And I'm a few beers deep tonight.
  6. As long as Mason didn't contract the Black Plague, it should be all good.
  7. The Jets have been mostly below mediocre, to be perfectly honest. The 2016-17 regular season was an exception with the Wild - they were a top team in the West. And then they stunk in the playoffs. They've been a pretty mediocre, middle-of-the-pack team otherwise. I guess this begs the question: does one good regular season erase roughly a half-decade of mediocrity? Mason apparently has the flu took a puck to the mask in practice and wasn't feeling well afterwards.
  8. me·di·o·cre adjective 1. of only moderate quality; not very good. synonyms: average, so-so, middling https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Minnesota_Wild_seasons In 2012-13 they finished 2nd in a garbage NW Division and were the only playoff team that season with a negative GF/GA. Besides last season, what isn't mediocre about their last five seasons, particularly the post-season? 2013-14: 4th, 2014-15: 4th, 2015-16: 5th (pretty much middle of the pack) 16/30 teams (soon to be 31) make the playoffs, anyway. Mediocre teams do make the playoffs: 2011-12 Capitals, 2013-14 Red Wings, 2015-16 Flyers - just to name a few.
  9. I mean, is it inaccurate...? Despite some solid talent, they haven't accomplished much of anything. Last season is a prime example, IMO: finished 2nd in the Central Division and lost in the first round to the Blues. And now this season, they're barely hanging on to a wild card spot.
  10. Look no further than the players on the Bombers - past and present - who, for the most part, speak or have spoken glowingly about their time here. Enough Evander Kane talk, though. Here's a crazy NHL statistic as of Wednesday afternoon (it's sure to be slightly different since then): https://www.bardown.com/one-stat-proves-that-the-central-division-is-the-best-in-the-nhl-1.964266 That is astounding.
  11. I don't see that being even remotely likely of happening. I can't see Cheveldayoff making any move this season that compromises the organization's collective blue line depth.
  12. The same can be said for any other large city in North America, though, including all 30 other NHL markets. Look at PK Subban when he was in Montreal or Wayne Simmonds in Philadelphia. Both have been the target of bigotry, too. I take exception with the fact Kane feebly tried to use racism as the reason why he was treated unfairly (complete bullshit narrative in his own mind) and why people didn't like him, and in turn paint Winnipeggers in a bad light. The reality is there are shitty people everywhere: racists, bigots, misogynists, etc. Winnipeg is not an exception. While I'm sure he was the target of bigotry during his time with the Jets (and that is unacceptable and disgusting), I maintain his being disliked by fans here had way, way more to do with his attitude, immaturity, and arrogant personality as an individual than his skin colour.
  13. Yeah, but you do abuse the "submit reply" button.
  14. Not even remotely. Lightning lose Hedman to what appears to be a pretty nasty knee injury: https://www.tsn.ca/hedman-leaves-lightning-game-with-lbi-1.965874
  15. Yeah, I completely forgot and then remembered that whole situation immediately after posting my comment. In any event, this copyright nonsense as far as generic names go can be pretty ridiculous.
  16. Interesting comments from the Army's side: https://www.tsn.ca/vgk-responds-to-army-in-trademark-dispute-1.965398
  17. Why is it amazing? The Jets aren't sellers and they're sitting pretty at the top of the league. The only real exceptions on that list are Neal and Perron, but that's got more to do with their contract status than anything.
  18. I'd take Glenn, too, simply because I think he'd come cheaper. Durant would be a great signing simply for the entertainment value alone, watching flatibillies' heads explode over it. Lots of uncertainty... Davis has been mostly a disappointment, LeFevour is nothing more than a short yardage/jumbo package 3QB, so the backup QB situation makes me nervous at this point.
  19. Evander Kane just had to play the race card; he had no real leg upon which to stand as far as his "treatment" here was concerned. 99% of the negative attention he received was self-inflicted due to his immaturity and prima donna me-first attitude. It was pathetic to see him try and create a narrative that simply didn't exist. Fans here didn't dump on him for the colour of his skin*; they dumped on him because he was a selfish, arrogant jerk. * if there were people who dumped on for that, however, that's a different topic altogether (bigotry is everywhere, anyway)
  20. You're absolutely right. And I agree completely. I just have a feeling Walters is going to have his work cut out re-signing the tandem of Heath and Randle. That being said, I don't think the signings of Wild, Neufeld, or Foketi affect those negotiations in any significant way. You forgot Bryant (easily a core signing) and Medlock, though.
  21. Remember when fanboys in BuffaLOL said the Sabres won that trade...? And that Kane just needed a change of scenery and people in Winnipeg were racist...? And that he'd get his act together and not be a distraction...?
  22. Neufeld and Wild both address depth, though. I doubt either was signed for a significant amount and I'd even hazard a guess both are getting base plus incentives based on games played or what have you. Heath and Randle were both all-stars last season, so no doubt their agents will use that in negotiations. That makes it harder for Walters unless either are interested in taking a trim to stay here. Leggett seems like a lock to stay here, but I have a feeling Walters will end up having to choose between the two others. I really hope I'm wrong on this, though.
