  1. Fisher un-retires to rejoin Predators: https://www.tsn.ca/fisher-to-un-retire-join-predators-for-playoff-push-1.984117
  2. Works for me. Let these Jets continue to fly under the radar while winning more than not. Bell MTS Place has become hostile territory for visitors, what with that sparkling 18-3-1 record for the home side.
  3. Ditto! Only second to Church's for me.
  4. He seemed to get better and more comfortable as the game progressed. Killing it at home on special teams. Another gem in that regard tonight. What a win over the league's top dog. Such a great way to start off this home stand.
  5. What's funny? VW in hot water again: http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/volkswagen-emissions-testing-1.4509035 Holy moly.
  6. So, let's say they lose tonight. That leaves 9 more home games in a row. One loss to a non-conference team won't make or break the home-stand. The Jets have already shown a loss doesn't rattle them, especially on home ice.
  7. While I think it's a strange decision, I don't think it's a head coach overthinking. Tonight's game is against an Eastern Conference team and the next two are against Western Conference teams. The latter two are more important to the standings.
  8. Unless it's a game-time decision, Hutchinson gets the start tonight. Colour me baffled.
  9. Comrie recalled... Hutchinson playing in the AHL ASG tonight. What is going on?
  10. The end of an era...? https://www.tsn.ca/jagr-clears-waivers-likely-heading-to-europe-1.981564
  11. Time for Byfuglien to step it up and earn his keep. He said he wanted more minutes, right? Well, here they come.
  12. Agreed. The Ducks are a greasy team and I despised them before the 2015 Playoffs. After that series, though, it's bordering on legitimate hatred. Perry, Kesler, et al... That whole team can eat ****.
  13. It was hard to be patient the last two seasons prior, especially after getting a taste of playoff hockey again, but we're finally seeing the results of said patience. Hard to believe they're still maintaining pace as a top team without two of their starting centres. It's incredible.
  14. https://www.cfl.ca/2014/06/13/new-five-year-cba-ratified-by-cfl-and-cflpa/ https://cfldb.ca/faq/compensation/ Maybe consider changing your user name. Might I suggest Nurse Intern CFL as a more fitting alternative?
  15. I can't see him getting re-signed unless he's willing to take a reduced salary. His 2017 season pretty pedestrian, especially later on when he needed to step up. It's a damned shame because he's been a personal favourite of mine for ages.
  16. Believe me, nobody here's got me fooled: Wilder is obviously very talented and that's got him on the NFL radar again. I'm surprised at the position Popp's taken to neither consider a bonus nor his release, but I can understand why he's taken it. A contract is a contract. Unfortunately, this situation reflects badly on both player and team, IMO. It isn't a matter of who's right or who's wrong, either, as there are valid arguments on both sides. It's just an unbecoming reality of the CFL, which in comparison to other pro leagues, is not very lucrative for many players.
  17. I was referring to Byfuglien but the statement is technically true for both. And to be clear, I'm referring to their advanced stats (Corsi, Fenwick, PDO) and not their point production.
  18. To which I'm sure Popp would've said: "Not a chance and I'll just shred the rookie contract offered." Last March, neither Wilder nor his agent were in any position to make demands. Even now, the same holds true.
  19. Wilder can do as he pleases. But isn't $56K and an opportunity to continue showcasing his talent - for the chance to land a better job down south - a better option than sitting out just to train on his own time and money and earning no pay at all...? I get where he's coming from: playing a gruelling and sometimes thankless sport for essentially peanuts is the shits and he clearly demonstrated he's earned a raise. And while I get that CFL contracts aren't guaranteed, he did sign said contract knowing the terms, the salary, and the fine print - and signed on that dotted line of his own accord. Does going public with his disgruntlement accomplish anything, though?
  20. But they're a pairing that's played well in the past before, and in a more prominent role. FWIW, his advanced statistics so far this season are slightly better than last.
  21. His cap hit is roughly 10% of the cap ceiling and is currently the fifth highest among NHL defenseman, which is noteworthy considering the company in that top 5. Has he lived up to expectations the last two seasons? I'd say not so much. I'm not convinced teams would be lining up or that the Jets would get a huge haul to trade Byfuglien, but I'm only seeing the situation through a fan lens. With the depth in the organization, maybe he gets moved sooner or later. I just don't see it happening, that's all.
  22. That contract extension the Jets gave him two years ago sure isn't looking that good these days. I fear the team is stuck with him based on what remains (3 years, $22M).
  23. I wouldn't play football for 50K, either. That's immaterial, though. He signed a two-year contract with the Argonauts, knowing what the terms were at the time. Just because he was perhaps more desperate a year ago doesn't mean he shouldn't be expected to honour that contract, much less go public with his disgruntlement.
