Just a quick comment on our offense, actually two points; 1. Lapo has and always will be a conservative OC with little regard for the intermediate or long pass but content with the 3-7 yard pass. Whether he had Collaros or Reilly or Mitchell as our QB they would be relegated to the same offense. He has been doing it for years going back to when he was in Winnipeg. Oh and his first year here he inherited Worman's offense and players which resulted in a very successful year. Each year after until he was fired that offense went downhill because he changed it to what we have today. And 2. why does it seem that our receivers are always standing still waiting for the ball. Our two passing TDs last game one to Dressler and one to Denmark were things of beauty where the ball was thrown to a spot and the receiver ran to it without breaking stride. That is what Edmonton does; that is what Calgary does; in fact that is what most consistent and explosive offensives do. Our is the 3 -7 yard go to a spot and wait for me to throw it to you type of offense. I have been saying it for some time and Lapo hasn't really learned anything from his stint with TSN at least it sure doesn't show in his play calling. NOW with that said you have to wonder about the reads and route running of the QB and receivers because many times last night there was Dressler and Smith within 10 yards of one another. I get the layering but not that close together on the field. Frankly not impressed with either of these guys and still question why Nichols continues to throw to Dressler in double and triple coverage. Sorry for the ramble but just very frustrated with the offense......then again we could talk about our pathetic defense that cost us 2 games back to back.

While I agree the defense was not good tonight I also thought the offense wasn't very good either. Yes we had over 300 yards of offense and scored what 26 points but we couldn't maintain drives; and we constantly continue to throw those dinkie little passes. I wouldn't mind it too much if we had the game in hand or at least were controlling the clock but we do neither. Further why in the name of ....... are we throwing the ball to Dressler in double and triple coverage time and time again. Kohert dropped several balls tonight, Smith was a non event, Dressler had one good catch and run for a TD and then we have Denmark who continues to catch everything thrown his way but is seldom used. He gets behind coverage like Dressler, is not as often in double coverage as Dressler is but for some reason is not thrown the ball.
I guess we were out coached in that our game plan both offense and defense wasn't good enough. We were out played as well and reality is Edmonton has a better team talent wise than we do. Can we get into the playoffs; well with a little help from others we can but if we continue to play as we did tonight we will not need a little help but rather a lot of help. Here's hoping without rose coloured glasses.

Believe in all honesty that he should have been the first! Notwithstanding I'm glad to see he will be included. I remember watching him play both offense and defense and then switch to become one of if not the most successful coach in Winnipeg Blue Bomber history. Always wondered why he wasn't there in the beginning but very happy he is there now. A great man, a great motivator, a great player, a great coach and above all a great human being. Congratulations

Well they won and great on them!!! The offense even scored 2 TDs which is great, both times in the red zone. BUT the offense has to be more productive and have to sustain drives better especially against BC or Calgary. Oh and what a turn of events.... dress Smith, Smith gets injured can't finish the game... welcome back Denmark. Hopefully it isn't serious to any of those who were injured.... seemed to be a lot this game. BUT a win is a win is a win... taking it and hoping for a better performance from the offense next game.

Good for Brock however a few comments here are puzzling but respected. First best QB Bomber ever had?? Well must have been from a younger fan as I remember Indian Jack before him and one Tom Clements who we traded for. Won a Grey cup or two with them both not so sure about Brock. Both the former left the city with positive legacies and fond memories; think I remember Brock leaving by saying bad things about Winnipeg and our zoo? Guess those things are forgiven. In any event congrats to him and hopefully the powers to be will remember the old timers that brought fame and fortune to the Bombers in the early days; they equally deserve recognition; perhaps a look into the history books of the Bombers is in order for this committee. Just my opinion and not trying to reduce the importance of the newer generations of players simply that there are others who in this case were much more successful that Mr. Brock.

I don't believe stating an opinion where the kicker gets 75% of the teams points and some similar percentage the previous game, by the way when we stopped throwing deep, is gloom and doom. Merely saying yes the win is great but if this is the formula you think will continue to win games I think you will be disappointed. Does that mean I don't want them to win or that I am not a fan, no it simply is looking at history and logic, at least in my humble opinion. I would love to be wrong and yes we have a 5 game winning streak but all five games have not been won by the kicker. If my memory serves me correctly the first 2 were blow outs in the sense all three phases played lights out. Not so much the past 2 games even though we got over 300 yds of offense. Very ineffective in the red zone, and 1 TD. That is not a winning performance in most instances but I do respect your opinions.

I would disagree with you in that if you go back to the first 3 games of this winning streak they were throwing the ball downfield more than once or twice a game and while they did not complete them all, they did stretch the defense and that is the point imo. Throwing it once or twice doesn't really do it and today I don't think the rinkie dink did a lot to run the clock until late in the 4th quarter when Harris started running with a vengeance. I believe the time of possession in the first half, certainly the first quarter was 2-1 for Sask. The Bombers did close the gap but if we think we will win many more, save the Banjo bowl with this type of offense I'm afraid we will be sorely disappointed.

No one is saying we suck simply that if you think we will continue to win with this type of offense I'm afraid you will be sorely disappointed. Nothing to do with sucking at all.

still believe Denmark, Dressler, Smith, Mayo and Kohert should be our receivers. Only thing I didn't like about the last game was we abandoned the long ball and instead went to the rinkie dink short passes again. Even if we throw it incomplete we at least stretch the defense so they cannot fill the box or tight to the line. Hopefully that won't be the case in the future because if it is our offense will stall yet again. To have 3 turn overs in the first three MTL possessions and come away with 9 points is not the way to win games. The defense and special teams won this one. The short game didn't do us any favours.

And Denmark seldom if ever drops a catchable ball. He is money even in tight situations.... if he can get a hand on it he will catch it. Simply put.

Fogg is the better punt/kick returner as he knows how to get positive yardage on both. Nothing fancy unless something opens up for him. He seldom if ever loses yardage. But as has been said here earlier, should he get hurt the defense now suffers. However should Randle be healthy once again and Fogg gets hurt we are okay.

Getting ahead of yourself is very likely. I think 2 games does not a season make. Let's just say that should they continue to play as they have in the past two games they will win their share of games. Will they win them all - I doubt it. Will they win enough to make the playoffs - well if they play like they did, they will certain have their own destiny in their hands not someone else's . Bottom line is they have to play and be coached with a solid game plan each and every game to address the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents. The coaches cannot have blind loyalty to the players, it has to loyalty won through performance. The past two games have certainly given them a look at what they have and what mistakes they have made concerning player talent and game preparation. So let's see what happens in the next two games. If they win they will be on a role. If they split they will have found themselves and can build from that. If they lose then it was a blip on the horizon and there is work to do. In any case let's not jump ahead but instead enjoy the moment and look forward optimistically to the next game.

Old Bomber Fan got a reaction from Doublezero in Do we change our play calling
In my humble opinion the play calling in the first half was good. We need to create more openings for the running game or perhaps include some screens but I did like the fact that we now throw the ball further than 3-6 yards. I do remember years ago any receiver that ran a route less than 10 yards would be talked to when on the sidelines. Seems the game has changed so YAC is so important. I still think that if a receiver can run a 4.5 40 yard, they can get to 10 yards pretty quickly. Layer the receivers perhaps, corner routes, crosses are all good however let's make them 10 yards or more. That way we will move the sticks at ease and should a receiver have to adjust inside the 10 we should be able to make it up with a short run. I think it would also open up the run game more as well as the LBs would have to play off the line more unless they are going to blitz and then the screen comes into play. Old time football isn't dead it just isn't used any more not sure why.

for my two cents glad Denmark is back. He played in a bad offensive system but more times than not, anything close to him that was catchable, he caught. He may not be the fastest any longer but a dependable receiver is what I remember. Then again MOS is still the head coach so let's wait and see - oh and yes I know LaPO is the OC

J5V I appreciate your comment however if there was a loyal Bomber fan, I believe I can be counted in that group. I am 70yrs old and have been an avid fan since I was 8, think that makes it 62 years. I have had season tickets for many years and when not employed in Winnipeg watched and listened to them on radio and cheered in every town, city I was in. It isn't that I am not loyal but when you have followed them as long as I have and have witnessed the worst run in perhaps the history of the team, save for the few short years Reinbolt was here, there comes a time when you just can't see the logic in continually beating your head against the wall. I still watch and cheer on TV but my time and money are better spent doing something else like not wasting 3 hours of the day commuting to IGF to watch a less than entertaining event with a very stubborn coach who in my humble opinion believes loyalty to his players take precedent over loyalty to those who pay their and his salary. I'm sorry if you feel I jumped ship before it sank but I would rather swim than get taken down by the undertow. That is if I read your post correctly.

If he is canned it will be either during the bye week or at the end of the season regardless of his record. They will not disrupt the team with a firing with only 3 or 4 days between games. That would be suicide!
