  1. Past hour
  2. Big deal, ita not like hes gonna miss out on learning a new bunch of new schemes
  3. As it is, hardly anyone cares about the CFL outside of the prairies. BC can't get people to stay and watch a lions game free after a big time concert.
  4. Halls' play-off adjustments to the DL were a massive game-changer, ba coming in at S was massive once the secondary settled as well. We had played soo soft before that people were losing their minds. 100%, the game was won in the trenches, and with physicality. Drake Nevis has become maybe the most slept on guy from that 19 win. Early, when he and Stove played together, it was a mauling. Then we switched to more and more cheetah with WJ, JJ, Hansen, and Kongbo and the cats couldn't keep up. Even the 30 cheetah we ran with wj on the nose, flanked by JJ and kongbo was vicious. It's a shame Craig Roh didn't get to dress for that game. He is another slept-on guy who is likely responsible for more of our DL success in that era than most would ever know. He was one of the best minds when it came to DL technique, pass rushing moves, and front play we've seen up here. His camps and books were extraordinary in their quality, he would've been one of the best DL coaches in the era. F%%^ cancer.
  5. Yeah the Cats were favored by everyone and anyone.....but 1 game anything can happen Our dline went off like mofo's and controlled that game, and the Cat's had no answer....and the oline as well just had their way and we controlled that as well....we had top end guys in their prime, hungry, and un-injured...and the foot soldiers had use outside of ST...so we had depth.......and well we won.....and thats why we need to get back to that set-up to reclaim our top spot standing....not a hard concept to recycle and reload your roster on the fly and to know/see when you need to move on....long standing tenure here be damned....cause that ideology isn't a wining formula
  6. Oh easy. If you took off jake, and kornys snaps and put in the worst imp DTs we've had the last 2 years you would have significantly better front play, pressure, sacks, hits disruption etc. In the CFL, you don't need to have the highest sack total. But you NEED to cause disruption at least. You don't even need pressures and hits. If you can push the inside of the pocket back onto the lap of the QB within 3-4 seconds consistently, you force the qb to go from about to toss it to having to look down, avoid the disruption, find another spot, reset, look back down field, and try to find a target. OR, they have to try and throw over a mass of humanity (when cfl qbs are pretty short in general) and risk their arm on the follow through. Which still messes with mechanics a lot. In the past, teams that ran 30 fronts understood this. They focused their down linemen on guys who could win a bull rush 1-on-1, or could shoot a gap with a swim move and loop into the pocket. People here would always be stunned when the bend but don't break argos managed to sack our qbs repeatedly in a game. And while it is not the fastest way to rush/pressure/sack, it is one of the hardest to defend and prevent disruption from in the CFL. Because every team is rolling 2-3 NI interior OL (most always 3, you usually see 2 on bad teams), the Canadian OL are much less adept at dealing with nose tackles, pass rushing 3ts, and 4ts. Those guys, often imports, are generally in the 275-300 lbs range but insanely powerful and surprisingly athletic. With diverse rush ability, and the ability to run tite fronts, twist etc that makes the assignment harder to plan for. Sure, if you get the double on the 4t with the tackle, it should be pretty easy. But the other side of that you have a 1on1, or you have a 1on1 with the nose. And the C, is most often filled by guys undersized and who aren't higher end picks. How many Cs in the cfl today could lock up a prime stove 1on1 for most of the game? None imo. For the level of pressure/disruption we get from our OL, we would be as well off taking thomas out and playing 1 less dl in general.
  7. EDM extends Ekholm 3yr AAV 4m
  8. They were favorites; the bombers had a whole lot going for them, but Zach wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire yet. The cat's D was better most of the year, their teams were better, and their offence was better virtually the entire year. We all knew when zach made the crazy legs play to adams we had a shot, but at no point in time where the bombers the favorite to win vs hamilton.
  9. Yup. Zach tends to struggle in the true frozen north. Hopefully Brady is good to go and with that the OL including an old oft injured Neufeld aging Stan Krap kolo who also had a day off I see, Wallace who was iffy to start 2 games ago and a solid Randolph. What could go wrong.
  10. Today
  11. If you need an extra day after a bye week to stay healthy, you aren't going to stay healthy anyway. his main issue isn't fighting off injuries; it's how much he's degraded in terms of level of play when injuries have and may have been involved that he played through. Rest day isn't going to change that. And this, as I mentioned as well. Practice these days is soft AF. He could've shown up in slippers and a housecoat without an issue. It's not any big issue of it self, but it is a big old red flag indicating the over all problem. At this point, they should be kicking it into high gear. Instead, we are trialing guys for next year's camp, handing out vet days, and doing the minimum. Edmonton is going to play hungry. They need to win to stay alive in the playoffs. They just surprised the riders and are a better team than their record indicates. If we don't match or exceed their energy/physicality/execution early in this game, it's going to be tough to win.
  12. 8 x 8.5 for both 55 and 37. It was 66 ish million. I can’t remember the exact aav but it’s. 8.5 for Helle and scheif is also 8.5 actually. They signed the same deals. they have 7 years remaining
  13. I see they also brought in a couple DL who sound like maybe immediate upgrades to our current crop of crap. So play them.
  14. I 100% agree with Goalie here -> our defense is not built around sacks - HOWEVER - the DL should be able to get more pressure than they are.
  15. Put Doug brown and a healthy prime stove at DT and I bet we have more sacks. It’s the talent or lack there of. None of our DTs are elite. They are all just ok really. None are brown or stove for that matter. 1 prob makes a difference. Ffs Jake Thomas is a starter.
  16. *Low whistle* that's probably more than what a Scheif and Helle signed for a couple years back (I think it was in the 80 mil area for those two) I should applaud the Jets main social page for calling it an 8 piece combo
  17. The difference in Completion Percentage between Bombers and the #2 Riders is 5.2 percent... the difference between the Riders and #9 Edmonton is 3.7. The Bombers have been riding that and a pretty serviceable special teams to limit TDs
  18. I don’t disagree. As a fan I loved the pressure and sacks. It made me jump out my seat and cheer. I honestly prefer the more I’ll call it aggressive D. I still do. I’d love for them to really get at the QB. But they don’t and haven’t since well it’s really since Jeffcoat “retired” but I’m just saying whatever they do is working pretty well also. I’m also pretty sure it’s our O who has **** the bed more. I mean pretty sure hogan has taken more heat than JY. Maybe it’s time JY took some heat tho also. Brown might enjoy the D tho as he was a legit elite defensive tackle. But you put him in there in his prime and take Jake out and maybe it’s likely we do have more pressure and sacks just cuz the talent level between a brown and any of our current DTs is so far apart that brown just makes our ends better
  19. That maybe the case for BC but it doesn't apply to every team. The Riders have allowed the fewest points and has the 2nd most sacks (almost double our total - 38 vs 20) so you can get after the QB and still be successful at not giving up points. The stats don't lie and it's worked for us as we're tied for 2nd in points allowed but it's a very different system JY has installed and not one that I enjoy watching (frustrating as hell seeing opposing QB's have all day in the pocket) and I know others feel the same - Doug Brown has stated he would hate playing in this system as there seems to no regard for pressuring the QB.
  20. The old Jake Thomas running straight and being pushed to the ground technique works wonders!
  21. Dreger adds 55 million in salary. 41 in basically signing bonuses. He’s gonna get paid 5.25 million every July 1st for example for 8 years. Maybe every October 8.
  22. Full no move clause and bonuses in the contract. It’s a huge win. Dude wanted to be here. Didn’t want to be anywhere else. Put it in his contract even. People should be celebrating this. Biggest signing in Winnipeg sports history and the guy signing it genuinely wants to be here and he’s an American.
  23. 12 per. 28. 5 ish for all 3 of KC Scheifele and Helle for 8 years. None of our stars need to be paid again and are all jets for life. That’s a huge win for the Jets. Josh is next cuz Lowry ain’t getting a huge raise. See when you break it down it’s about 9.5 each for the 3. That’s really solid when one dude who both KC and 55 out produce got 17. those 3 are our stars. They get paid like it. Josh is our other star. He will get paid the most on D. He will get 9 or 10 per. The others won’t. We could hope one day a guy like Salo will cuz it means he’s a star. Vilardi signed long term also. I mean none of them are up soon. Josh and Lowry but like I said the stars will get the bags like the qb did in the cfl, and there’s lots of space. Florida has multiple players making 10 don’t they. We got 3 making 28. It’s normal now. It’s actually, Helle and 55 took discounts.
  24. They don’t seem to care about pressure and sacks as much as other teams. They have allowed 70 points less than the guys who do tho. So whatever the bombers are doing is working better than what B.C. is doing. You and others want them to concentrate more on sacks and pressure. That’s not really the Younger way tho. Our D is built around our defensive backs really. It’s built around coverage and basically confusion. It’s not about sacks and pressure and hasn’t been since JY took over really.
  25. Have ppl actually been to practice since the 90s? Cuz it ain’t what it used to be. My daughter and I checked one out in August I believe, she was off school still and we left after 15 minutes. Went to bomber store and that was that. Nothing happens. There was more contact and ppl moving faster at the bomber store than on field. Less shouting but definitely more contact at the store cuz I bumped into a rack and it almost fell over. That was more than we saw on the field. At this point of season I’d think keeping guys like Neufeld healthy would be more important cuz we all know if he got hurt in practice most of you would lose your **** on O’Shea. Neufeld is what he is. He isn’t gonna be getting any better or worse. He is what he is. I’d rather keep guys healthy than send them out for meaningless practice. Honestly they should change practice to walk throughs cuz essentially that’s what it’s become.
  26. No we aren’t. It’s Thompson and chipmans money. Ticket sales make up less than half the cap. The cap is rising. 1 guy making 12 million when the cap is over 100 is irrelevant. Not everyone gonna be paid their 8 year 12 million per like KC got. this isn’t the bombers. You aren’t paying their salaries. They have billion dollar tv deals and billionaire owners. Your 1980s thinking is not relevant in 2025. oilers have 2 guys making 26.5 million. Jets have KC (he signed) at 12 and Helle and Scheifele at 8 each. So 28 for the 3 stars. Edmonton 26.5 for 2. lol at thinking 3rd or 4th liners gonna get these deals cuz they won’t. actually. Like the cfl the cap money will go to the stars not the foot soldiers. And that’s what’s happening cuz it’s the stars signing these big deals. Meanwhile Chibrikov signed 2 years 850k per. Iafallo got 4 ish this off season. Not everyone is gonna get that bag. Scheif Helle signed 8 years. They are making 8 for 8!years. Next guy up who might get paid is Josh. That’s it tho. nHl is not a gate driven league. It’s a billion dollar tv deal driven league. Canadian teams are the only ones who sell out consistently and ppl think it’s their ticket money. lol. It’s not. It’s the tv deal. The prices are going up with everything. Going to a nhl game is not a necessity tho it’s a luxury.
