Game 77 : Senators @ Nightmare at 20,000 Feet

Michael Hutchison is on a flight when he sees a creature of some sort out on the wing of the aircraft. He's only recently recovered from a nervous breakdown brought upon by his being consistently pulled early from games and isn't sure that what he is seeing is real. Every time someone else looks out the window, the creature hides from view. When the creature begins to tamper with one of the engines he begs his friend Ondrej to tell the pilots to keep an eye on the engines. If they see nothing, he agrees to commit himself to the minor leagues when they arrive at their destination. His paranoia drives him to a desperate act.

How can the same chit happen to the same guy?

Dont forget Earhart.  A true story but a potential airplane disaster.  Did you do Diehard 2?

Have not done DH2 and I won't do United 93 before anybody asks. I'm good for the next loss and will wind it up with something different.

Ran out of airplane disaster movies, back to TV.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

Mine would be Jets lose. Keep losing until we get  lotto pick.  The theme would be the music to Journey's Don't Stop Believing.

Sopranos finale totally ruined that song for me.

I thought Twilight Zone the movie did a good job on this same story...Lithgow>Shatner in my opinion...

Armia only gets 12 minutes tonight?

Who was he playing with?

I didn't get to see the game yet.

I was at the game. Buff's hit had to be biggest hit I've ever seen in person. You could see it coming and the place exploded when it happened.  It was just about the only exciting thing that happened all night.

Stone with his head down....gets destroyed. Guys need to be taught to play with their head up. All the "Dept of Player Safety" bullshit is trying to take away big hits, and making it easier for guys (Sid, most famously) to play with their heads down the majority of the time. You have to be aware on the ice...head on a swivel at all times. Glad there was no penalty of any kind on that play, but the fact that Ottawa tried to jump Buff immediately after is ridiculous...

Crosby's problems started with a shot well away from the play and having his face slammed into the glass one game later, not keeping his head down when he has the puck.

Player Safety isn't taking away all big hits, just ones to the head, which they should. Example 1 is no penalty for Buff's monster hit last night.

If a big guy runs into a little guy, and is physically incapable of avoiding his head (Pronger Physics) that should be a clean hit, no call. But it isn't. Because everyone's a ***** now. And Crosby is by far the worst player in the league for running around with his head down.

Its becoming a scenario where even if its technically a legal hit but could impact the head, players will have to avoid doing it.  But I agree on the size difference in that if Chara hits Enstrom and Toby's head is impacted by Chara's chest, what's Chara to do about that?  But those hits arent the norm so its not something they have to give too much thought to, I dont think.

Its important to protect heads and this whole CTE thing but I also believe we have to be careful about over-reacting.  I tweeted Gary about a study I heard about linking steroid use to CTE which would explain long-retired players suffering, those that were more prone to use juice when the risk werent as well known and testing wasnt available or as good.

Welcome back to Winnipeg Mr. Stone.

Now that's how you throw a body check. One of the best hits I've seen, at least on TV. Timing is everything in a hit like that, and Buff did it right.

It brings to mind the angst we feel as football fans, as we picture our middle linebackers hitting like that...

1. A professional player in control of where he's going is never physically incapable of avoiding another player's head. Chara would have been out of the league years ago if this was true. Pronger physics are that he'd hit whatever part of you he thought would injure you the worst. That's not a height issue, it's a dirty pos issue.

2. Not liking Crosby won't make your criticism valid.

That linesman had the best seat in the house must of heard the crunching of Stones upper body truly one of the hardest legal hits i have see in my life.

This one is still my all time favorite.  Probably because he's hitting an Oiler.

The Code is still around. But if anyone wants to fight Buff at 260 lbs they're welcome to try.

The Code doesn't say anything about avenging a good clean hit. If it's noticeably dirty, then you beat a guy's ass. But when your guy is admiring his pass and gets knocked the **** out, that's on him.
