Chicago Blackhawks forward Daniel Carcillo has been suspended for six games, without pay, for cross-checking Winnipeg Jets forward Mathieu Perreault during NHL Game No. 658 in Chicago on Friday, January 16, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 19:50 of the second period. Carcillo was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking.

Carcillo is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, will forfeit $40,243.92. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

As Carcillo sat out Chicago's game Sunday night while awaiting his hearing, his suspension will remain in effect through the Blackhawks' next five games.

He can return Feb.3 against Minny, and CHI next game is the 6th at WPG. Tony P, be ready.

9th time he's been suspended.  Enough is enough already.  Give him 1000 lashes and 3 years in a middle Eastern prison.  Or ban him from the league.  Whatever is more reasonable.  Obviously the suspensions aren't working.

Fantastic news that he'll be back for the game in Winnipeg. I have tickets for that one.

He gets suspended once every 47 games. I don't how much more you can say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Urgh. I'm a half STH. It's almost worth giving up COL and EDM in Feb just for CHI...

I have tickets for that game too. Should be a doozy. I'd honestly suspect nothing much happens but 6 games for a guy who has been suspended like 1000000 times before? seems right :S

Peluso will see extra ice time that night!

Carcillo gets six games for cross-check on #NHLJets Perreault.

I'm not disappointed, but I am surprised.

For years the NHL has paid lip service (at best) in trying to remove parts of the game that really don't belong.  A few more rulings like this one and some of the others we've seen this year and I might finally believe them.

Wouldn't be surprised if Quenneville holds Carcillo out of the game against Winnipeg.

Wouldn't be surprised if Quenneville holds Carcillo out of the game against Winnipeg.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Blackhawks cut him outright. I watched him in a game this year I saw in Calgary and he was brutal, could barely skate.

From Rotoworld:

Mathieu Perreault is expected to be out until at least after the Jan. 25th All-Star game with an undisclosed upper body injury.

He'll be replaced by TJ Galiardi on Sunday night against Arizona. Galiardi does not have any fantasy value to speak of.

LOL on the Galiardi comment.  But so true.  Big step down from Perrault to Galiardi.

Carcillo is a repeat offender. He should have gotten much longer than 6 games. And plus, he will be out for a lot less time than Perrault, which doesn't seem fair.

Right now they are saying Perrault could be back after the All-Star Game which would mean he would have missed 2 games.

Well, when Carcillo gets punched in the mouth at MTS. ....we will have to call it...."just another hockey play"

9 suspensions to me means he should be gone for a year at least. If there is an example of a repeat offender who hasn't been forced to change by discipline it's this clown.
