The TV Thread

Second season of Orange is the New Black launched today.

Anyone else into this?

I have to admit to being a bit of a TV/movie-phile.  I generally buy Blu-Rays when there's a movie I want to see rather than just watching it on PPV or In-demand (I like to collect).

Premium TV has really been leading a creative resurgence in recent years, probably dating back to The Sopranos.  Its nice that Netflix has become a legitimate competitor for HBO (which puts out some really great shows like Sopranos, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood etc).

House of Cards was tremendous.

While cable channels like AMC are getting in on the act, I annoys me a bit.  The Walking Dead would be so much better on Netflix or HBO where they could truly appeal to adults (HBO passed on The Walking Dead when Thomas Jane was attached).

As for Orange, it took me a few episodes to get into last season but Im looking forward to banging out a few episodes tonight.

As an aside, for you Trekies, it was recently the 20th anniversary of the finale of TNG, one of the best Series' Finales in TV history.

So I guess it's safe to say that today is supposed to be avalanche day for the tv industry (renewals/cancellations/pickups)....or not it could be tomorrow considering that there will be upfronts from NBC

TWO.MORE.WEEKS! the article is making it sound like that it's going to be a actual episode rather than what we saw with the Fresh Prince Reunion

eh it had a good run, Anthony Anderson still has To Tell the Truth. I wouldn't be surprised if The Goldbergs end as well because well it's been on long enough too, I will definitely watch the Season premiere when they mourn Pops

here's how things will look for NBC in the fall (What the hell is AGT: Extreme) This is Us's final season will run un-interrupted but it's not coming til midseason same goes for the next season of Young Rock and Kenan

well the voice is now going to go to the one cycle a year route now (But then again there's going to be like two olympics going on within months of each other so I don't blame NBC for the chaotic schedule)

ABC has renewed multiple shows, I will wait until TVline posts the article explaining everything because deadline only does one at a time for some reason and there it is

oh well I guess Katey Segal will be spending more time with the Conners depending on whether her character accepts Dan's proposal in the finale (yeah the title of the finale teases two proposals) For Life is going to be shopped, maybe they should move Mixed-ish to Freeform

Blue Bloods wraps up Season 11 with a two hour epsisode tonight. Hopefully, they can come back with a 22 episode season next year. It was hard following BB this year as they spread a 16 episode season starting in November instead of September. to May There were gaps between episodes throughout the season.

well I wouldn't be shocked if along the way they announce that the upcoming season will be it's last because it's been on for how long? since 2010?

I still have in my head they were renewed for S12 two years ago.

Y'know, I watched the first two eps, didn't hate it, and meant to go back and I just keep forgetting. This coming weekend, I might have to do some binge-ing....

I thought it was really bad. The plot ( even for the mighty ducks ) is super unrealistic.

Bombay owns a rink, but won't rent it out for hockey? You would rather have your most profitable avenue of revenue halted than kids play hockey. Ohhhkay

It's definitely a kids show. A show like Ted lasso does a better job of making it for both kids and adults

Yes, back for Season 12.

Blue Bloods numbers are down from the 8-10 million they used to draw. Now 5-7.5 million. But that show has owned perhaps the worst time slot 10 pm Fridays since 2010 with huge numbers consistently. Imagine if it was scheduled on Tuesday or Wednesday nights at 9 pm. It might just have blown NCIS out of the water.

Binge watching The Sopranos. I've seen every episode but I just find the show irresistible once you get into it. As Silvio Dante said, "Just when I thought I was out. They pull me back in!!"

Nope,not over yet

hey the show is still fun to watch (I wish I could say the same for this season because unfortunately we've all figured out who everyone is before the Super 8, I like it when we have to keep guessing)

Season 4, I can't wait. Well, I can because I cancelled my subscription. I'm going to re-up for a month to get through this final season and watch Army of the Dead when it comes out on Friday.

Cannot frikken wait. WoT is dear to me. Rosamund Pike might be the perfect casting for an Aes Sedai... I believed for a long time the only way to pull off a WoT show would be via some sort of animated series, but with the success of GoT, The Witcher and so on, live action sword-and-sorcery is in high demand (and being executed well)
