  • A finely tuned machine like that doesn't need practice anyway

Brady’s always questionable/DNP/Limited. Unless both his legs fell off, he’s playing.

  • I agree. Why not use the day to start installing the game plan? The more reps they get, the better, IMO. They’ll obviously need to be a lot cleaner to have any shot on Saturday.

How about Brady being listed as questionable! I cannot imagine he woudl miss this game. I hope that is simple gamesmanship.

He's been listed as questionable for the last 18 games

Idk if I'm more scared of that or of Kelly playing all those reps.

Not too many, imo. Most of the starters in the power divisions, plus a few, are already making that money, in USD, with lower tax rates. Coming up here to make 150k for 3 years, then maybe a million bucks, won't lure that many. Every single one would think they'd be in the NFL starting in 3 years.

JBR's point is extremely accurate too. NCAA teams are running systems that don't require nearly as much thinking as the NFL. Heavy, heavy read option stuff or 1 read downfield, then check down. No QBs go to the NFL with the ability to audible more than a basic checkdown at best. They don't know how to process basic post-snap adjustments, let alone complex ones.

NCAA teams build the system around the kids they get to beat the worst defenders on other D1 teams. The transfer portal has been as much an issue as anything else. Kids don't have to take the hard lumps of getting demoted or earning their way up the roster anymore. They don't want to be 4-5 year players; they want to go RS 2-year starter and go to the NFL.

Not only can they just bounce to avoid hardship, but they are heavily incentivized to do it.

NCAAF is no longer a developmental league. It is junior professional football now.

You have a point about hardship. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. My son Tyler went thru 3 head coaches at SFU in 3 years. That meant three OC's with different playbooks & signals along with 3 different qb coaches. The quality of the head coaches got worse every time they were replaced. For Tyler, just a lot of ups & downs like a roller coaster.

Tyler's last HC was Kelly Bates & he was awful. Tyler had him his senior year & he treated him as well as other veterans badly. He demoted Tyler to backup qb as they didn't get along. He had shared the starting duties with another qb from Arizona under Jacques Chapdelaine the season previous.

Just petty **** with Bates. If players looked at him accidentally the wrong way he'd hold it against them. His ego was a mile wide but his coaching experience was as deep as a mud puddle on the desert.

SFU was playing Azusa Pacific in Los Angeles & it was in the fourth quarter down by 5 scores & they were getting hammered. SFU's starting qb went down with an injury so Tyler went in. He got the offense moving & had a very nice drive going. They got down to the 15 yard line & Bates pulled Tyler after he got a first down. Bates sent the starter back in who promptly threw an interception in the end zone. It was obvious that he didn't want Tyler to be the qb on the field who led a scoring drive.

A week later on Seniors Night, we were losing in the second half & bates knew our family had travelled to Vancouver from Portland & Calgary. Yet he refused to play him even though the game was out of reach. I just sat in the stands simmering. The QB3's father went ballistic & was yelling at Bates wanting a piece of him. His son was a senior as well & Bates never played him. There was a reason that douchebag went 0-39 as a head coach. Players hated him. Bates was a huge reason the football program crashed.

In today's world, players would transfer out & not think twice. But this was 2015. It was still difficult to transfer. Tyler could have done so but he said he didn't want to abandon his brothers so he stayed. We were talking about that recently & Tyler said he regrets not transferring. However, he said he got his degree from a fine university so it really doesn't matter anymore.
