That press conference: there was a whole lot of double speak and nothing... not surprising.

Chevy probably thinks this team will turn it around.  Arneil won't be fired, but I am now wondering if the players are tuning him out.

My takeaway: Chevy expects them to keep losing, doesn't think his farm players are any better than what he has, and thinks calling them up will just shatter their confidence. Better to have the vets take the bullet.

Not entirely sure how I feel about any of that.

I used to watch the World Juniors and watch the many Jets prospects on the various teams, including Canada and the USA.  This year?  There are two Swedish defencemen, that's it.  I know we've been drafting low for many years now, but man what has happened to our drafting?

Doesn’t seem like Josh Kyle mark and gabe are tuning him out. We lack talent. That’s more on Chevy than Arniel but it’s also partly the result of being an elite team for years now (with a presidents trophy and central banner to show for it) and not having top 12 picks. People love Winnipeg when they play here, some make it home year round for life, getting ppl here tho is still the problem. Perception. Not the free agent destination. So rock and hard place. Be good and not have top 10 picks and not be able to restock the cupboards or be bad like buffalo always and have top 10 picks every year.

Gross if that's true.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true but I get the feeling he also would rather a team of vets lose badly than calling up kids who probably aren’t quite ready to lose. I think from his pc I got this, yup we suck and right now we can’t do anything about it. The guys we want to trade have no value so what do you want from us really. He’s right also as Toews Schenn miller Pearson Nino names Nyquist get you 4th rd picks or later. My feeling is Chevy didn’t expect us to be this bad but and who did honestly, the roster isn’t a last place roster. It’s almost Florida when they got Barkov or Colorado when they got mackinnon. A bad year followed by game changing draft pick followed by success. And there’s the silver lining.

I'm with you on this from a fan perspective.

I'm also not sure how I should feel on what Chevy said here:

'He noted the Jets have given up some draft picks in the past few years and are “paying a little bit of a price for that right now.”

I do though agree with what Chevy said here:

“But if you're a true fan of any team, the ups and the downs and the celebrations and the heartbreaks are all part of fandom.”

That seems like a bit of an odd call up.  He’s improved, but it’s not like he’s putting up great numbers.  Not sure how he is at face offs.  Gustafsson would make more sense to me, but maybe he would have to clear waivers, if he was sent back down?

Salomonsson would make sense with Fleury hurt.

They carrying 8 D with fleury. That’s not ideal. Now they down to 7 so they can call up another forward. Zhilkin ain’t top 6. He’s bottom 6. None of the moose guys currently are top 6. I like Yager and Chibrikov but ideally they 3rd line guys with a 4th line shutdown line.
