Winnipeg Ice

Would NOT be owned by the Jets. Would play at UofM until new 5000 seat arena was built.

Didn’t want to start a new thread so I’ll slip this in here. Awesome jerseys

Checked out game two tonight.  Seattle with the 4-2 win but it was a good game and another decent crowd.  Brad Lambert looked pretty good and had a couple goals.

yeah I read reports that they'll play at the Bison's rink. Oh Goody bench seats!

Yep. Until arena built.

Love the WHL. When I used to live in Regina would go to 5-10 games a year also would go see a game or two in Moose Jaw.

That's not a big surprise. Wayne Fleming arena is pretty small. They're will be some on the waiting list that won't get seats until the new arena opens in a couple of years.

Manitoba is the hockey capital of Canada.

and the price comparison between WHL, AHL and NHL? I'm guessing WHL costs less than AHL?

Beer at Rockets games is $8. At least it was last year. Haven't gone to a game this year as Rockets are abysmal.

Any idea how this lawsuit is going to affect the WHL re: paying the players? Word is that it's going to make many franchises unviable. And then you have concussion lawsuits etc...

Have not heard much but I suspect they'll be earning min wage and they'll have to cover that.

Too bad Savoie won't be available. He was denied exceptional status and plans to go to the University of Denver.

What's interesting about the Savoie trade is that both brothers are committed to NCAA right now, but there's buzz that they might change their minds and play together in Winnipeg, as the Ice have the 1st overall pick and will most certainly be taking Matthew...

Never seen penalty box and players benches on same side before. Maybe not so unusual in minor leagues?

Savoie is the older brother of highly-touted prospect Matthew Savoie, who is eligible for the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.

Time for Winnipeg Ice Thread?

NOT eligible and won't be playing in the WHL by the sounds of things. Or, the Ice would be taking him first overall.

We have an Ice thread.

Is there an Ice thread?

Ice sure did a lot of work this morning. Took the St Albert kid #1, and just in case he goes to US College (where he's verbally committed), they traded up to #2 and take the next best kid...

Ice Captain Peyton Krebs suffered a partially torn Achilles tendon when cut by another player's skate during a workout earlier this week. The 18-year-old center had surgery to repair the damage but a date for his return to action is unknown.

Krebs is rated the 10th best North American skater by NHL Central Scouting for the 2019 draft.
