Restaurant/food thread

So anyone go anywhere good lately, with iHop opening on monday (surely this one will be better than the one in grand forks service wise) I'm kind of wondering if anyone has been anywhere decent recently

a month ago I went with my friends to canadian brewhouse.....man that was a good burger but a word to the wise, do not get an appetizer if you also plan on getting the John Candy Burger it's the second most expensive thing there...but man those garlic fingers were excellent, but there were more than I thought so I asked "anyone want to share my fingers?" which they gladly did

I can assure you that the John Candy Burger is nothing like whatever John Candy like item that Rumors Comedy Club has....it was just two patties compared to the Rita Challenge

I'm not sure if anyone has made a restaurant thread yet so I'm just leaving this here

Some are going under cuz they never got younger people coming in. These places our moms and dads went to, we don’t.

Never updated with the times and I'm assuming basic burger places skew to an older crowd.

Anybody tried Freddy's yet? Thoughts? Wanna try it this week yet.

Gotta let it simmer down first. Give em a month.

You can go to a place like Montana's and order their burger platter with a drink, for a few dollars more than a fast food meal, with better quality and quantity.

Y'know I was just gonna say.... I don't mind paying a couple bucks more for breakfast at Stella's. If the food isn't cheap, then why the f*** am I going to the fast food places?

$20 for a burger and fries and almost $5 for drink. Plus tip and taxes with slow service. 100% not a bargain, but if you want a sitdown meal that's the extra you pay. Not just a "few dollars more"

We all know you're biased against fast food and that's ok. Nothing wrong with that.

Yes, thank you.  Take a double teen combo at A & W for example.  It's over $20 unless you have a coupon

I actually eat fast food more often than not, but I also appreciate a reasonably priced sit down meal

I actually disagree ,mate. Montana's quality has seriously declined last few years.

Holy crap Freddy's was crowded (if I didn't know any better I'd say people from the Waverly/Sterling Lyon area came all the way here)well at least I got a free concrete out of it (it's so creamy)because the app wasn't working it won't work til tomorrow

I'll get the food at a later date

Might as well fortify your flower garden with free concrete........

I drove by Freddies and saw the drive thru with 20 cars deep.   Winnipeg people sure like mediocre fast food chains.

Then again for dinner I was dragged to Olive Garden and it was jam packed and the pasta that I had was only a minor notch above a microwave dinner.   It always blows my mind on why the location on Reenders is always so busy when the food is very expensive and mediocre.   Every dish is near 30 dollars and very subpar.

yeah because it would be so nice to have to NOT drive all the way to the states for Culvers and at least we have more than one Olive Garden....I'm old enough to remember when we had more than one Red Lobster and I think the other was on Henderson

It is amazing how much people are willing to pay for soup/salad and bread sticks...

Any sushi fans here? Sake on the corner of Manitoba and Eveline in Selkirk is next level. They also make their own dipping sauces  - teriyaki et. al.

As someone who has owned restaurants and mobile concessions, I cannot recommend enough that you avoid the dine in restaurant model enough. Restaurants are the one business I would never recommend anyone to get into. You can do everything right and still fail. There is so little margin for error because margins are so low. I had a restaurant that was doing around a million a year in business and it was profitable, but it was far from a gold mine. After all was said and done, with my wife and I working full time we figured it out that we were making about 9 bucks an hour for our time.

Curious to hear what concessions you've had/have. Likely we've crossed paths !

Leopolds has two big ass mozza sticks on the menu these are longer than the whole Mozza's from CC's

Sigh I think White Picket Fence is done I went to the Henderson location after I went to Sweet Tops and the sign was still there,  nothing was on the shelves not even drinks in the fridge I guess I'll have to rely on Primos from now on
