This is where I'm at. Milt was so great, people want to heap even more on to him. But I think that any leadership Milt provided was by example. He has spoken many times before about not going out with the guys after practice and he clearly wasn't after guys to stay out of the clubs, etc. He was a professional, but worried about making sure he was doing his job, not worrying about other people doing their's.

I was shocked to hear about a rift so don't know if I believe it or not. I will say this, if it were true, this is exactly how you would expect Walters to answer these questions. They always keep things close to the vest (in season, anyway - Walters is very open during off season discussions).

But in 2018, the defence was stellar against Calgary and Nichols looked awful. So the question is, after another injury, can he still be that guy?

This isn't Penton predicting anything. It's simply him sharing things that are said to him from people around the league.

This would be absolutely wild if true. There has literally been nothing to suggest these three are anything but a close-knit team. Not that we ever hear any leaks out of the organization, so they could just respect each other enough to keep it in house.

IF we bring back Nichols - which I mostly expect to happen because this group loves the status quo - I feel like he needs to be paid similarly to his last contract. His play was similar, our passing yardage was way down, but he was efficient in the red zone. We saw the QB salaries rise last year, and we saw teams suffer because of it, so I think things are going to snap back to normal on that front.

I assume they're still planning on updating it in the off season. This was just about getting it up and running in time for Grey Cup.

Speculation from Marshall Fergeson this morning on 1290 that Ottawa is considering bringing in Dinwiddie and Arbuckle to keep the team together.

I've been asking myself this same thing....I don't think he does in the regular season finale. I think we'd have seen some version of the two QB system in the play offs, not sure what it would look like.

Generally, I agree with you. There was one game this year where we took a holding call that I thought was absolute BS, though. As long as they're ignoring it equally, I'm ok. I pretty much don't even look for it anymore because it's a waste of time.

And with Nichols in the line-up, we played Lucky. But after a bunch of ineffective weeks with Strev, he was benched. The poster was asking, now that we have a QB who is throwing deep, do we re-insert Lucky into the line-up. No mention or shot against Matty.

On defence, I'm hoping we can confuse Evans the way we shook Mitchell in the semi-final. Hopefully it creates some turnovers for us, which I think will be critical. Their offence is too explosive. They're going to out points on the board, we need our D to occasional give our O additional chance to keep pace/get ahead. On offense, we're a different team with Collaros. Lapo needs to stick with what's working though and not force Strev if it's not working.

There are so many unknowns at this point. Earlier this season - a lot of us were thinking that this might be a total tear down of coaching staff if we were one and done in the play offs (the shadow of a HC opening in Toronto also factoring in). I no longer believe that's the case am fairly certain we see MOS signed to a new deal. Lapo will probably look for HC opportunities and could be a big factor. I can't see Nichols following him anywhere if there is interest from the WFC to retain him (he has young children here after all), but maybe Strev follows the guy that has shaped his career thus far. The new OC coming in will have a huge factor in who we re-sign. A Buck Pierce promotion promises the status quo - whereas a Calgary disciple might want to bring on Arbuckle (as an example). Do we want to re-sign Zack? Does he have a strong interest in returning East? Do we have faith in Nichols to stay mostly healthy moving forward? Are posters here suffering from back-up QB syndrome in their evaluations of Macguire? (Hint: You definitely are). I'm really interested to see how the league's coaching staffs sort out in the weeks following Grey Cup. I think that may clear some unknowns up.
