  1. That clears it up. Paul deleted the tweet so I wasn't sure if it was legit or not.
  2. I don't think anyone puts Allen up there with Flutie and Moon, etc. though. It seems less that he's overrated and more that Noeller wants to add a "yeah, but" anytime someone mentions his accomplishments.
  3. Yeah, we can’t apply modern standards to previous eras. Many of the older QBs threw as many INTs as TDs with 50% passing completion %. There was not nearly as much focus on ball protection as there is now.
  4. And what did Zach do when he was young and in Dru's position? Did he stay in Toronto to be mentored by Ricky Ray?
  5. The upside/downside of the Brady scenario is that I bet we value him more than any other team. I think a likely scenario is he signs here for higher than he would get on the open market.
  6. Very different team at the time. We have 8+ Canadians starting at times when you don't even really need 7 anymore. It's like 6+1, though it could probably be abused further. I agree with who ever said the team probably prioritizes Brady. There's probably over 100k difference in their FA value. Though Schoen strikes me as a guy who will take a more team friendly deal to stay, whereas Brady has publicly said that's not an option. From a pure team-building perspective, it frees up a lot of cap space to go import at RB. We know this franchise doesn't operate like these guys are names on a spreadsheet, however.
  7. It went something like, Burris, Glenn, Tate, Mitchell, Arbuckle, Maier. All were at their most successful in Calgary, whether they were developed there or not.
  8. There's something to be said for that. The more guys we get under 2 year deals, the more flexibility Walters may have going into next off-season.
  9. Sure, but this isn't like Buck Pierce waiting around for the right HCing opportunity. Brown will be 27 next year, is probably already champing at the bit, and doesn't have infinite time to wait around IF the perfect opportunity comes up.
  10. I don't know how many teams see him as a starter (only takes one tho), but obviously there's no starter making 200k. It may be a 200k base with incentives for starting games that gets him to 400k. But obviously the main goal of a GM is to find a QB. We see GMs commit to the next hot thing over and over again.
  11. I personally do not understand your line of thinking here. If I'm Dru and I believe in myself that I'm ready to start, and teams are offering me starting money, why sign a one year deal to be a back-up? I don't see any motivation to do that. Any of the risks you mention will be true one year from now as well, at some point you just have to bet on yourself.
  12. Yeah, he was one of the ones I was worried about. But we'll see.
  13. Dobson doesn't seem to be listed as a FA, but if he is/was, that would be a hard person to retain in a 6th OL role.
  14. They're probably a good bet to land a couple of guys. Toronto will probably lose a few guys to FA and I can see a lot of player turn over in Sask that frees up cap space so they can be the highest bidder.
  15. Love Patty, he'll do great, The only questions that arise are, do we lose the younger guys?
  16. I always found this a weird take of yours. No one talks about him like a CIS guy. It’s always very clear. He’s a Canadian born kid whose talents took him south of the border pretty quickly. Whatever attention Rourke gets has nothing to do with Forde. Why even bring him up?
  17. Absolutely no one took it out of context. It’s was a completely unnecessary comment.
  18. I certainly don't appreciate it for home games, but I do love me some Thursday Night Football.
  19. Walters has renegotiated many players salaries before, it’s how we’ve kept the core together for so long. Even if it’s changing some of your base into a bonus to pay it out as 2023 funds. He certainly has never looked bad for this during the many occasions he’s already down this.
