  1. Schoen is also my clear 1A to Lawler's 1B. Along with everything you said, Lawler has never been available for a full season. He hit 1000 yards once, along with a handful of 900 seasons. I just can't see the Bombers moving on from Lawler (though I expect Walters to be talking to him right now to see if any arrangements can be made).
  2. I wouldn't sign Logan, but that's a good example. I want Brady. I know the Bombers do too. And we will sign him for more than he is actually worth to our on-field team value, because we want him so bad. But there's a point where it moves beyond, "not a value contract" to, "this is detrimental to the rest of our team". And Schoen needing an even bigger bump in pay than Brady is a huge shadow on this whole thing. In conclusion, I really hope there is more 2023 cap room available for some 2024 bonuses to slip into. The lack of signings is starting to worry me.
  3. His comments make it seem as if he’s going to go to the highest bidder. I’m sure we get the right of first refusal, but at what point does tying money up in the RB position begin to hurt you? I want to say that we should let Schoen walk. That you can’t invest so much into two receivers. But obviously we’re investing so much into Collaros, we need to surround him with weapons.
  4. Every RB wants to reset the market, they have all ended up disappointed so far.
  5. Apparently there’s no specific disciplinary action and it’s at the commissioner’s discretion.
  6. Want to provide an example of a non-starting Canadian making more than Jefferson?
  7. Everything seems to end December 31st. If we want to hand out some 2023 bonuses, gotta be in the next few weeks.
  8. Yes, but we've built things a certain way over the past few years and I really don't expect it to change all that much.
  9. But I don't think anyone's saying that. We're just acknowledging the multiple things that went wrong instead of saying it was solely on one thing.
  10. I'm of two minds. Our players are professionals and it's their job to bring it even if they're not feeling it. And part of why players in this room love MOS is because he gives them the freedom to do that. That's what FIFO is, the ability for the team to regulate itself and get rid of players who are unable to do that. Now, that said, it seems like we're missing the emotional element that can give players an extra boost in certain moments.
  11. That may normally hold true, but BLM is toast. I don't know if he's going to be comfortable with standing pat there.
  12. Out of context my butt, that was one of many quotes talking about how much he'd love the opportunity. Ask any other coach in the league, they'll respond with how much they love the CFL. You ask Chris Jones, who would absolutely bail at the first opportunity, and he'll respond that he's living the dream and he's not going anywhere.
  13. Dinwiddie: “I’d prefer to be an NFL guy,” Dinwiddie said. “The NCAA, I’m always a West Coast guy as far as recruiting and being able to handle that.” https://3downnation.com/2023/12/04/argos-ryan-dinwiddie-would-consider-any-nfl-opportunity-thats-the-right-fit/ Like, c'mon. Can you imagine MOS saying something like this? I feel bad for TO fans, their HC and starting QB just won't shut up about leaving the first chance they get.
  14. I have a hard time reconciling that with the fact that there’s a list of guys in the NFL with criminal records a mile long. It seems to me that if teams think you can play, they find a way around the off-field stuff.
  15. Alford played division II college ball and it took one year with us to get an NFL look. Oakman is 31, and played for Penn State and Baylor before going around different leagues since 2018. If NFL teams thought he was at that level, he'd have had a look by now. He didn't fall through any cracks.
  16. That was my immediate thought. Seems like the obvious choice.
  17. Literally no one has claimed no mistakes were made. ****, man. It's the championship game, loser goes home, the win is not guaranteed to go to "the most talented team".
  18. Our D needs to figure out how to be successful with Canadians mixed in there too. Count me out on Oakman as well.
  19. We're just going off a comment from Zach that suggests he's going to be helping Dru find the best place for him. At this point of the season, I personally don't know where that is. But Tommy Condell in Ottawa might hold some sway now.
  20. Still a long way to FA. I fully think you can't tear everything down and put a young guy in at QB and expect him to experience any success. Harris is the guy you want taking licks while you get everything else in place. You need to get the next guy in the building, but I don't want him starting right now. That said, O'Day is the worst and can be counted on not to do the right thing. I'm just speaking about what I would try to do.
  21. You don't think it's unlucky to have Scheon, Demski, and Bailey injured for the Grey Cup?
  22. You have to admit it was pretty unlucky, too. I certainly don't expect the team to have 3 starting calibre receivers on the PR.
  23. Totally possible. But his health was pretty good prior to last year, iirc. Unfortunately this isn't the NFL where you can use a first round pick on a QB and him develop with your coach. You need a vet to help you or you'll never be able to find the earlyish success you need. Harris can be good enough if they can find the next guy. But again, that's the hard part.
