  1. Very different team at the time. We have 8+ Canadians starting at times when you don't even really need 7 anymore. It's like 6+1, though it could probably be abused further. I agree with who ever said the team probably prioritizes Brady. There's probably over 100k difference in their FA value. Though Schoen strikes me as a guy who will take a more team friendly deal to stay, whereas Brady has publicly said that's not an option. From a pure team-building perspective, it frees up a lot of cap space to go import at RB. We know this franchise doesn't operate like these guys are names on a spreadsheet, however.
  2. It went something like, Burris, Glenn, Tate, Mitchell, Arbuckle, Maier. All were at their most successful in Calgary, whether they were developed there or not.
  3. There's something to be said for that. The more guys we get under 2 year deals, the more flexibility Walters may have going into next off-season.
  4. Sure, but this isn't like Buck Pierce waiting around for the right HCing opportunity. Brown will be 27 next year, is probably already champing at the bit, and doesn't have infinite time to wait around IF the perfect opportunity comes up.
  5. I don't know how many teams see him as a starter (only takes one tho), but obviously there's no starter making 200k. It may be a 200k base with incentives for starting games that gets him to 400k. But obviously the main goal of a GM is to find a QB. We see GMs commit to the next hot thing over and over again.
  6. I personally do not understand your line of thinking here. If I'm Dru and I believe in myself that I'm ready to start, and teams are offering me starting money, why sign a one year deal to be a back-up? I don't see any motivation to do that. Any of the risks you mention will be true one year from now as well, at some point you just have to bet on yourself.
  7. Yeah, he was one of the ones I was worried about. But we'll see.
  8. Dobson doesn't seem to be listed as a FA, but if he is/was, that would be a hard person to retain in a 6th OL role.
  9. They're probably a good bet to land a couple of guys. Toronto will probably lose a few guys to FA and I can see a lot of player turn over in Sask that frees up cap space so they can be the highest bidder.
  10. Love Patty, he'll do great, The only questions that arise are, do we lose the younger guys?
  11. My bus stop every day for 4 years in university. Never had an issue.
  12. I always found this a weird take of yours. No one talks about him like a CIS guy. It’s always very clear. He’s a Canadian born kid whose talents took him south of the border pretty quickly. Whatever attention Rourke gets has nothing to do with Forde. Why even bring him up?
  13. Absolutely no one took it out of context. It’s was a completely unnecessary comment.
  14. I'm sure they could have gotten it if they wanted.
  15. I certainly don't appreciate it for home games, but I do love me some Thursday Night Football.
  16. I think it's reasonable to think Brady will beat 170k.
  17. Walters has renegotiated many players salaries before, it’s how we’ve kept the core together for so long. Even if it’s changing some of your base into a bonus to pay it out as 2023 funds. He certainly has never looked bad for this during the many occasions he’s already down this.
  18. Schoen is also my clear 1A to Lawler's 1B. Along with everything you said, Lawler has never been available for a full season. He hit 1000 yards once, along with a handful of 900 seasons. I just can't see the Bombers moving on from Lawler (though I expect Walters to be talking to him right now to see if any arrangements can be made).
  19. I wouldn't sign Logan, but that's a good example. I want Brady. I know the Bombers do too. And we will sign him for more than he is actually worth to our on-field team value, because we want him so bad. But there's a point where it moves beyond, "not a value contract" to, "this is detrimental to the rest of our team". And Schoen needing an even bigger bump in pay than Brady is a huge shadow on this whole thing. In conclusion, I really hope there is more 2023 cap room available for some 2024 bonuses to slip into. The lack of signings is starting to worry me.
  20. His comments make it seem as if he’s going to go to the highest bidder. I’m sure we get the right of first refusal, but at what point does tying money up in the RB position begin to hurt you? I want to say that we should let Schoen walk. That you can’t invest so much into two receivers. But obviously we’re investing so much into Collaros, we need to surround him with weapons.
  21. Every RB wants to reset the market, they have all ended up disappointed so far.
  22. Apparently there’s no specific disciplinary action and it’s at the commissioner’s discretion.
  23. Want to provide an example of a non-starting Canadian making more than Jefferson?
