  1. further to this... I did some reseacrh because I was curious: above the passers should would indicate neck or shoulders... so by rule, WJ's RTP call was garbage Article 5 — Roughing The Passer Because the act of passing puts the passer in a particularly vulnerable position to injury, special rules against roughing the passer apply. Once the ball is released, defensive players must avoid all unnecessary contact with the passer. A player shall be penalized for any act of Unnecessary Roughness to the passer, including but not limited to: Contacting the passer in an unnecessary manner, including stuffing him to the ground, violently throwing him to the ground, and landing on him with most of the defender's weight, Any blow above the passer's shoulder, All rushing defenders must attempt to avoid forcibly hitting a passer in the pocket, at or below the knees, either if their path to the passer was unrestricted, or if they are coming off a blocker, Attacking the passer who, after releasing the ball, is either standing still or fading backwards and is obviously out of the play and remains out of the play, When the quarterback slides feet first, all unnecessary contact must be avoided. The slide must be done in a timely manner to allow the defence to avoid such contact. Contacting the passer if either the initial source of contact, or primary source of contact, is the defender's helmet. above the passers should would indicate neck or shoulders... so by rule, WJ's RTP call was garbage... only way it would be the right call is if it was late (it wasn't) or he hit the head (he didn't)... that probably would've been an easily winnable challenge I was thinking/guessing that Taylor was probably directed to give up the single if it looked like he was going to be pinned within the ten yard line... O'Shea loves field position... of course, in the end it didn't matter... but it would've been frustrating if Calgary had one last shot at a FG down only 2 instead of 4.
  2. Is that the rule?? I thought it was head or neck... don't the guys wear shoulder pads for a reason?
  3. curious thought.... BLM has been on record saying he wants to finish his career in Calgary... If Cgy mgmt goes to him in the offseason and says Maier is our guy going forward but we'd love to have you on as a back up at, let's say 200k... dose Bo go for it or does he decide to play somewhere else for starters money?... He could probably get paid like a starter in Toronto, Ottawa, or even Sask or Hamilton
  4. I don't know specifically the situation you're talking about... but it sounds more like they were celebrating a sack than celebrating an injury... I know a lot of these guys are classless but there's a good chance they wouldn't have know he was hurt until well after the play... then again... I didn't see it so maybe you're right
  5. In their defense... at least they did something about it for once... instead of just sweeping it under the rug, like they normally do...
  6. About the O-line... we've talked about Tua Eli a bit around here... I would have to guess he's moved away from football (or is there still a travel ban on unvaccinated?)... otherwise you'd think he would be on a roster somewhere.... another guy from the "where are they now" file is Cody Speller... according to cfl.ca he's a FA and still only 28... I wonder if he's moved away from football at this point.
  7. From who? The bomber were always going Cdn in the interior and he wasn't beating out Bryant or Hardrick...
  8. Sounds like the Riders are getting Leonard, Robertson, and Marino all back this week... hate on the Riders all you want... but having those two DEs back will definitely help them against BC... Marino is still **** though...
  9. so we're now at the point in the bye week where people are arguing about who had the worst hot take from 3 years ago... Let's bring up that "Bomber need to fire Mike O'Shea" thread and analyze the **** out of that one too
  10. Some people are waaaay over-analyzing how this game ended... the Bombers did everything right and Liegghio just missed the kick... that's all... hopefully he gets another shot at a game winning kick in the regular season... that way, either he redeems himself or we know we need kicking insurance for the playoffs.
  11. not necessarily... If BC is within one game of the Bombers... BC wins both games and clinch first... Bombers win one and clinch
  12. I was kinda of thinking about this recently... lets say three things happened differently so far this year... 1) Bede makes the extra point and Tor goes on to win... 2) Jordan makes the TD catch and Cgy goes on to win... 3) Liegghio makes the final second kick to beat the Als last week... The team goes into the bye winning a back-to-back and 8-2 (still first based on points)... is there any panic in that scenario?... not necessarily suggesting there is panic now... but it feels like everyone would probably be happier going into the bye on a winning note
  13. I'm impressed Walby managed to spell MARC LIEGGHIO's first AND last name wrong in the same tweet...
  14. Let me guess… you picked the Bombers to win last night?? I think you know what you need to do going forward 😂
  15. O’Shea mentioned the placement of the ball on the post game show… said it’s the right call if the ball is placed right on the one… it wasn’t, so he was basically saying it was a bad call without explicitly saying that… also on the post game… @DTonOB asked Mike Miller about the schedule, if they are tired, etc… Miller immediately shut that down and said there are no excuses for their play… not surprised our players would respond like that
  16. Is Evans hurt or is this performance related?
  17. I can’t recall there ever being hardships in the history of bomber fandom… 🤪
  18. Offense: Collaros defense: Bighill canadian: Woli (Fatboi Jake in close second) rookie: Schoen o-line: Big Stan teams: Liegghio
  19. True… productive doesn’t necessarily mean every down player… hopefully Jake has a few more good years in him and allows Lawson (and the next new rookie) to carry the torch once he’s gone
  20. Realistically, he probably already is a bit of an assistant GM… Walters calls the shots on player personnel but we all know there are certain types of players O’Shea likes/wants… also… lol at anyone who thinks O’Shea could be on the nfl radar… just not happening… nfl is looking for the next brilliant OC/QB whisperer for HC jobs… not a guy who had success in (what they consider) a second class league… this isn’t the same era that Bud Grant coached in.
  21. My favourite part was when he signed late in the off-season… in his initial conversation with reporters he said he was exhausting all his nfl opportunities before coming back to the bombers… he seems like a guy that everyone loves… afaic as long as he’s a productive player… he’ll have a place on our team
  22. I think he only signed a one year deal
  23. Their offense will be 100% reliant on Davis scrambling…
  24. Sorry, little late catching up on this thread… this idea that crossing over and going through the east is somehow “easier” comes about this time every year… reminder that no cross over team has ever made the grey cup… and there have been some good west teams taking on what seemed like a bad east division… ironically, the riders are the closest team to ever pull it off… in 2017, they were a Ricky Ray drive away from winning the east final. What annoys me about this is, why the rhetoric?? Yes, two grey cup wins in a ten year stretch is a good run… but a “new era of dominance”???… reminder to riders fans that BC, Calgary and Montreal also won 2 cups in that time frame… so I wouldn’t exactly consider it “dominance” if nearly half the league accomplished the exact same feat
  25. I’ve been wondering… where have all the good people gone??
