  1. We'll see what MCI becomes but not the greatest rookie debut, zero touches and they brought in Bailey Feltmate to help out at FB.
  2. Change of scenery, less pressure to be the guy, no Dave D to criticize, might have lost his confidence, I wouldn't write Maier off yet.
  3. You're ignoring the move they made to acquire Jake Maier for an 8th round draft pick, which was a great deal I wish Walters would have jumped on. He easily qualifies as the 2nd or 3rd best seasoned backup in the league behind Fajardo and MBT but at only 27 it remains a mystery whether he will emerge as a QB that can lead a team or not. It's fair to say he's a superior backup option than anything the Bombers can roll out this season, and if Harris goes down in game 2, they won't be in a state of panic or despair.
  4. Seems like Mace knows what he'd doing, starting to put together a number of solid positional groups.
  5. That would be a Sask. sized task to accomplish in a short period of time, which could land them in the gutter for 3-5 years until they recover, especially with a QB search on the near horizon. Replacement of the O-line has to be calculated and gradual, Stanley done after this year out of principle, Neuf done after next year, Eli steps up this year and takes a spot or likely remains 6th man for the duration of his career. The cupboard is now almost bare of upcoming Natl. O-linemen and if they get behind the 8 ball in drafting solid replacements they could end up in a scramble like the Riders have the past 4-5 years. Grabbing every washed up Natl. that gets cut by another team or overpaying in FA to get a year or 2 of adequate performance from a vet. before moving on again. It be a difficult path to tread.
  6. DE, I'd be surprised if Vaughters stays healthy the entire season, if he goes down, don't know who they'll have to plug into his spot. Rotation wise it would be nice to have 4 solid DE's on the roster to start the season.
  7. Seems like they've maybe had a change of philosophy from previous years, almost acting like they got their hands slapped for overspending last season. Playing with analytics maybe they're taking a Moneyball approach, pay less, get more, especially from the receiving corps. I think they have a belief in paying their core of star players high to initially attract and retain them, and not valuing the grunt workers that play in between anything more than league average salaries. For ex. If a player like Neufeld is being paid $130-$140k, they can't justify paying someone like Dobson anywhere near $200k, which would also be more than Stanley is making, it would throw their salary structure out of whack.
  8. You're justifying poor business practices, maybe Walters didn't feel it was worth the effort to get out of bed that day so he let Kenny slide.
  9. Numerous players that left have indicated the Bombers failed to touch base with them, communication is key to negotiations, keeping channels open never hurts.
  10. In the interview below Kenny says he planned to stay in Wpg, but suggests the Bombers came late to the party with their bid. Not that they were ever going to match the figure Goveia offered him, but they continuously come away from these contract negotiations looking unmotivated or disorganized. I think it's time for a refresh of the support staff below the 3 Amigos, they're falling behind in a number of categories and are beginning to take on the yellowish tinge of Eaton's bargain basement. For those too young to remember, imagine a table heaped high with unpackaged men's underwear in a jumble, 99 cents a piece!
  11. Bennett went down with a season ending injury in Bomber TC last season and spent the year rehabbing. O'Shea said he would welcome him back once recovered but it looks like he changed his mind.
  12. And from that rotten tree, the Bombers decide to pluck Shea Patterson.
  13. Holm improved his tackling last season and looks to have put on a fair bit of muscle, in his first season starting he was more likely to wrap his arms around the ball carrier and hold on till assistance arrived.
  14. More surprising story. Edmonton Elks make Robbie Smith CFL’s highest-paid defensive player General manager Ed Hervey paid Smith $270,000 in hard money with a $276,000 maximum. https://3downnation.com/2025/02/17/edmonton-elks-make-robbie-smith-cfls-highest-paid-defensive-player/
  15. Disagree about Unamba but, you're right about Peach, the guy I was thinking about was Glenn January a 3 time Eastern All star, but that's stretching way back to 2009–15 when he held down LT for the Bombers.
  16. There were plenty of great players in Wpg. that just missed out on the 2019 GC win, most brought into the league by the Bombers. Easy to forget them now as their career timing was bad, but many of them could make the team today if they showed up in their prime. Partial list drawn from faltering memory. Mo Leggett, Taylor Loffler, JSK, Ian Wild, Khalil Bass, Westerman, Chris Randle, Greg Peach, Mathias Goosen, Bryant Turner., Clarence Denmark, and Dangerous Don Unamba!
  17. Ellingson played well during his one year in Wpg and had great chemistry with Zach, if not for a season ending injury he likely goes over 1,000 yds. It was also the same year Schoen led the league as a rookie. 2022 WPG 8 50 38 598 109 3 15.7 46 Same could be said for Dressler, only a Bomber for 2 seasons but in that time he was a valuable part of the offence.
  18. They need rotation for Vaughters, shouldn't expect him to play the whole game like Willy and Jake do.
  19. "Never read the comments below" is a sound motto to follow, doing so may lead to brain damage and a loss of faith in humanity.
  20. You could be right, the Riders might have been out of their depth against a motivated Bomber team at home, but it sure looks like there was a whole lot of confusion in that secondary on Lawler's 3 TD's. That falls on the DC, screwups like that shouldn't still be happening so late in the season. This was a great goodbye Wpg. present from Lawler.
  21. Walters presser this afternoon, answers a lot of questions.
  22. I still think the WF against the Riders was a bit of an anomaly, explain how a team gets to the WF and is still so incapable of coordination they commit 3 broken coverage errors allowing Kenny Lawler (of all players) to sneak behind them for uncontested TD's. The game turned into a cakewalk, which may have led to over confidence in the potency of their passing attack against the Argos.
  23. Nothing wrong with DesLauriers resume, he's only 43, he played 9 years with the Als and spent the last 8 years working in their front office. Deslauriers retired as a player in February 2016 but stayed with the Alouettes as a football operations assistant and scout.[1] He was named as the team's Player Personnel Coordinator on July 18, 2019 shortly after the dismissal of the team's general manager, Kavis Reed.[2] He was promoted to Director of Football Operations after the 2019 Montreal Alouettes season on December 18, 2019.[3]
  24. A RB can't carry a team in a high scoring contest, without decent passing attack they'll never keep pace with a team that can move the ball and score quickly through the air.
  25. Doubt it, they wouldn't have made the playoffs without him the past 4 seasons.
