  1. Every once in a while, I like to gauge the intelligence level of the posters with an esoteric title to see how they respond. Thankfully, I won’t have to resort to knock knock jokes for the rest of the thread. Lol.
  2. Think JFK and the location of his untimely demise.
  3. Dallas and Philadelphia have been the two clubs that have beaten the Jets at their own game this year with aggressive forecheck, low danger chance defence, great goaltending, and just enough opportunistic offence. Those teams are the ones I’d want to avoid in the playoffs. Curious to see tonight how each team’s game has evolved since their last meeting in November
  4. Chris Tanev sorting out immigration issues so not available tonight.

  6. Game time - 7:00 pm, TSN 3 At stake - outright first in Central by night’s end Side note - a Jets win and they will guarantee a better season record than the Blackhawks with 24 games still to go.
  7. If you break down the clip, Whitney said it’s a player on a current playoff team, so it wouldn’t be Minny. Also, Biz asked “is this a team they could meet…” and Whitney answered “yes” before Biz finished with “in the first round” so it could be any current playoff team. Now, some more likely suspects arise, like Evander Kane in Edmonton (because I could see him running his mouth), or PLD in LA due to recent history with the club, but maybe it’s one of the Stars, since they have handled Winnipeg’s game well this year, or a Canuck after they arguably outplayed the Jets but lost last week and someone is bitter. But honestly the Jets seem OK playing a run and gun (like this past week where they have been scoring) or lock down defence (basically all of December and January) to win 2-1. And if healthy they can roll 4 lines and play either goalie with confidence, so I’d say they are well-built for the playoffs, and their special teams are now coming around with the addition of Monahan. But West is wide open this year, with any of 6 teams honestly not being a surprise if they make the Finals (and even LA has an outside shot of they re-discover their November swagger). Two very very good teams are going to get bounced in round one guaranteed based on the 2 vs 3 match-ups whatever they are.
  8. IIRC he never seemed to have his head in the game when he was here. I seem to remember one game where he (I’m pretty sure it was him and not another receiver) caught a pass in the flat about 5 yards from the sideline and then “let his momentum” take it out of bounds uncontested to avoid taking a hit, when he had about 30 yards of real estate in front of him before he would have encountered any would-be tacklers had he simply turned it upfield which he should have easily been able to do had he just looked up. That play received more boos than any drop (and there were several of those too) as it showed where his mental game was at.
  9. Ya done messed up, Ay-ay-ron. 🤣 Insubordinate…….and churlish.
  10. Kyle Connor with his 3rd straight game winner, goals in 4 straight with 5 in his last 4.
  11. Lockdown 3rd and the Jets move back into first on the Central, temporarily at least.
  12. Quiet board tonight. Gangbusters first period, sleepy second (sounds familiar of late), but Iafallo snaps his slump to put the Jets up by 2 in the 3rd. That Monahan trade looks better every game.
  13. Jones’ decision to walk was purely family related, according to her. Wants to be there for her daughters more.
  14. I’d say this comment didn’t age well, but let’s face it, it was already dead on arrival.
  15. Power play continues to be white hot. Connor with the one-timer and then Dancin’ Gabe Vilardi with the sick hands in tight. Jets up 3-1 after 20.

  17. Season 2/3 done. Jets 5th in the NHL in winning percentage, 2nd in the Western Conference. 3 points behind Dallas for the division lead, tied with Colorado, 4 games in hand on each of them. Based on current win percentages, the wildcard playoff line in the West is set at 89 points, top 3 in the division is set at 91 points, second place at 104 points, and top spot in the division at 108 points. Top spot in the conference currently at a 112 point pace, and 114 for the President’s Trophy. Jets currently on pace for 112.
  18. Special game start time: 5:00 pm, TSN 3 Projected line-up: Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi Iafallo-Monahan-Ehlers Niederreiter-Lowry-Appleton Perfetti-Namestnikov-Barron Morrissey-DeMelo Dillon-Pionk Samberg-Schmidt Hellebuyck Brossoit
  19. For how long? Until the court case is done? Remember that the team itself has been named as part of the lawsuit, so it’s not as simple as “until their internal investigation is done”, since they are part of their own investigation. Do you think they will rule against themselves and admit wrongdoing if they plan to contest the civil suit? And suppose they find Kelly did wrong in their investigation and then he is cleared civilly in the suit - does he then have a wrongful termination suit against them? Or vice versa, they find he did no wrong and he loses the civil suit, does the employee get extra damages in another defamation suit against the club? Or does the court get tainted by the club’s findings, one way or another? Too many folks here ready to tar and feather based on half the story only told so far from one side and not be patient enough to let the judicial process play out. Harmful to both sides.
  20. You mean like Payton Manning in 2003 and winning the MVP and settling a sexual assault and defamation civil suit? Wait, you didn’t hear about it?
  21. Sorry but it’s a two way street Biggie. Some players want to wait until they’ve exhausted their NFL tryout opportunity, or want to see what the ceiling on salary from other teams may be in free agency tampering week before committing. Kind of glib to say “club should come out right away and know who they want to sign and say so rather than waiting until the end” when it’s impossible to set a budget when players like Schoen and Oliveira (who the club “knows” it wants to sign) have bargaining power and whose price is dependent on other teams’ offers, and this will stall things for their own benefit.
  22. Complainants are not entitled to a presumption of truth. The system is actually in place to allow for presumption of innocence and places a burden of proof on the accuser. I agree that naming the alleged victim can lead to pre-judgment and shaming, but naming a potential accused does the same thing (as some of the comments here have already demonstrated).
  23. Knew this was a Rick Westhead article before I even opened it up.
  24. Bombers were on a 12 games winning streak in 2001 and sitting at 14-2. The Rick Worman offence was all about spreading the ball around. More than one game I recall we had 9 different players with a reception, despite having Milt and Robert Gordon there was no one player who could be keyed on by opposing defences. Charlie was essentially a punt returner that rookie year. Mills did the ground and pound in the first half, with Blount as kick returner and the change of pace back. Roberts would come in as the fresh legs in the fourth quarter to salt the game away against tired defences. Despite the success, Roberts was not happy and seemingly out of the blue he walked out in the club and threatened to quit the team right after win #14 because he was not the feature back. The club relented and convinced him to come back and make changes to the O, but suspended him for the next game as punishment. We lost that game in Toronto and then the following week at home to Calgary, allowing them to sneak in to the playoffs on the last weekend. Our offence never really recovered as Worman went more “Blink heavy” in those remaining games as the main running back. And we all know how that ended up that season. Then a few years later (I want to say 2004, but that may be the wrong year) he posted on Ourbombers as chuckdiesel and basically said he was retiring, again out of the blue. Then yanked the post, but it was already out there in the public domain. Then he got his nose out of joint when the media surrounded him at practice the next time he showed up and asked him about it. Seemed really bothered about the fuss he has caused, and refused to address it beyond “oh I wasn’t going to follow through with it” but did not explain why he posted it in the first place, and why were people making a big deal about what he said? Talent yes, but Milt Stegall said he had zero breakaway speed and would never outrun anyone to the end zone in a straight up sprint because he would be gassed after 20 yards, and unless he had a 15 yard head start he’d be caught from behind. And he just couldn’t keep out of his own way between the ears it seems.
