Angel Hernandez was at it again last night 3 consecutive pitches out of the strike zone all called strikes, he should have been fired years ago but after last night apparently being incompetent is part of the job.

After the Mike McIntyre puff piece, I just have this bad feeling he's going back to Uni and thus the 2025 draft.

My understanding of the draft rules is that as a US college eligible player aged 18, the team holds his draft rights until August 15 after he graduates from college, provided he does not leave school early. If he does, then they hold his rights until June 1,  4 years after his draft year. So the Jets should have his rights until 2026. Different rules than for CHL players (two years) and college players drafted at age 20 (two years).

This is very much looking like the team who allowed 3 or less for 30 plus games. That bodes well for playoffs. Jets a tough out.

They should have put him in for 30 seconds this game and play him the last 2.

Problem is you put him in today even for 30 seconds and Hellebuyck does not get credit for a shutout.

  6. This is for Helle, but also for LB who I owe it to from Thursday:

Jets now 4 goals ahead of Florida (and counting, 2-2 game vs Buffalo in the 2nd) with an extra game to play in the Jennings chase. Sadly, if they pull it off, Brossoit will not get his name on the trophy as he will fall short of the 25 game threshold to qualify.

  7. Took a quick listen to Avs radio. I get not being rah-rah when the visitors score, but even at 1-0 they make it sound like a funeral. At 7-0 they sound like they are prepping for self immolation.

And Avs Twitter losing its mind. At least this guy has a sense of humour about it.

Wonder how many of those Jets fans who were “so done with this team” two weeks ago are quietly slinking back today?

Only downside so far is that Dallas officially clinched top spot in the Central with their win today. Then again, given the season series result, Jets should be fairly happy to draw the Avs in Round 1, which is now a certainty.

So...regulation and OT wins...does not include shoot out wins?

No. First tiebreaker is purely regulation wins, Jets have more than any team in the NHL there with 43 (tied with Carolina). Next adds in OT wins as well, but not shootout wins. The Jets’ total of 49 is second best (tied with the Canes, only one behind the Rangers’ league leading total of 50). Third tiebreaker is total wins (this includes shootout wins as well). Only the Jets, Canucks, Flames, and Devils have yet to win a shootout contest this year.

With 2 games remaining. Dallas would just need 1 point to clinch first since they won the season series. If the Jets and Colorado finish same points we are 2nd cuz regardless of tomorrow we have the season series.

The head-to-head results are actually the 4th tiebreaker. The first is wins in regulation, then regulation and OT wins, then total wins. Jets actually hold the tiebreaker over Dallas, so the Stars need 2 points to clinch first place. Jets are leading Colorado by 2 wins in the first tiebreaker, so there is no mathematical way that the Jets and Avs end up tied in points at the end of the year and the Jets lose the tiebreaker at this point. Tonight’s game is huge for both teams if they want to finish second, but bigger for Colorado not to lose, as they have less room for error in that they have to finish ahead of Winnipeg in points to claim second. Jets get there if they finish tied.
