  1. Walters is OK but he handicaps our team because he has limited connections down south. Yes, the scouts are there to find players in the US but it would be better if both the GM and the scouts had an extensive network there.
  2. They did get hot at the right time but they had at least one element on that team that allowed them to to get hot at the right time against the better teams in the CFL. That of course would be Ray. I still remember that incredible long pass he made to the Argos receiver, hitting him in full stride for the TD in the Grey Cup game. Nichols, and several other Qbs in the league would never be able to pull that off.
  3. Riders are mostly a good team. Great defense and good special teams. Terrible offense though.
  4. Toronto has had quite a few changes since last season, not the least of which is the loss of Ray for the entire season. A Ray-lead team would have 6 wins at this point.
  5. No team in CFL history has kept a head coach for more than 4 seasons without at least one playoff victory. The Bomber organization has been extremely patient with him. Make the playoffs and win at least one game or you are done. Simple.
  6. IF the Bombers miss the playoffs or are one and done, O'shea will be fired and Lapolice will be promoted to head coach to right a wrong from 2012.
  7. BC is actually pretty good at home. Their defense was particularly impressive against the Esks a few weeks back. Reilly was sacked a few times, including a fumble; defensive backs played tight to the receiver swatting away a few balls that looked like catches; limited the eskies to very few yards in the last quarter. Factor in eastern teams having to travel 3 time zones for away games in BC and I think they can win 7. Their offense is unimpressive, but the defense looks good. Bombers have to win at least 2 more to cross over. Lose next week to Kavis - built roster and imo the season is done.
  8. I don't think a coach in the history of the CFL has lasted more then 4 seasons without at least one playoff victory. We are in year 5 of the O'Shea regime. If the Bombers make the playoffs, and lose in the first round, he should be fired regardless of how well the Bombers play. The organization will have showed more patience than any other CFl franchise under similar circumstances.
  9. In the 2013 off-season Wade said he would still search for a GM...then he simply kept the interim GM.
  10. I'm not surprised to hear that, regarding Miller micro-managing the team. I'd be interested to know what decisions he has influenced in a negative way related to the on-field product. Guess you can't reveal anything specific though, huh?
  11. The 2002 team was one of the best all-time offenses in CFL history. Hardly an indictment of Lapo. I will wait and see what they have planned a few weeks from now. People here are being myopic and are not nearly assigning enough blame to Nichols and his declining/lack of skills. Lapo probably played a significant role in his success considering how poorly he played in Edmonton prior to be traded to Winnipeg. Without Lapo's play-calling Nichols may have very well never have had those two good seasons in 2016 and 2017.
  12. I want to see what kind of plays they design for Streveller two weeks from now before I cast shade on lapo. And even if Streve struggles against Montreal, how much blame can you fairly assign to Paul anyways? Strev is pretty inexperienced and will make his fair share of mistakes.
  13. So Lapo is at fault for the receivers dropping balls?
  14. With such conservative play-calling - and with the run game being shut down with mostly short gains - you would no doubt be on here saying Lapo is playing not to lose.
  15. Just pointing out the absurdity of the host of the post-game show in defending Nichols. Even if he had attempted to present a legitimate defense of Nichols - which last year's playoff game against Edmonton was not - this is a what have you done for me lately business. Nichols has been average to poor for nearly a year at this point. It has been mediocre play, not a blip, by this point in time. Nichols should not be given the benefit of the doubt based on how he played in 2016 and the first half of 2017.
  16. C'mon mang. Nichols is totally our Ricky Ray. I can see it happening.
  17. lol listening to the post-game show and the person who moderates with Walby and Westwood (can't think of his name) was defending Nichols and using his past history, in particular the playoff game against Edmonton which he referred to as probably Nichols best game as a Bomber. I remember this game as one in which Nichols racked up a lot of garbage time stats after not being particularly impressive for the majority of the game. I looked back and checked and nichols final stats were 370 yards passing with 3 TDs and no INTs. Sounds impressive...until you look at the game log and realize that in the final 11 minutes Nichols passed for 190 yards with the Bombers down by 3 scores. Loads of garbage time stats with Nichols gaining 90 yards in the final 1.5 minutes alone dinking and dunking down the field to bring the Bombers to back within a TD with 0 time left on the clock. Best game indeed!
  18. I'm not sure these are big play receivers that can consistently stretch the field as those on teams like Calgary and Edmonton.
  19. What led to the problem with the receiving core was the bust Bowman turned out to be. Instead of having scouts capable of finding a big impact receiver from down south, the Bombers had to rely on free agency to give them a complimentary receiver to Adams. Bowman disappointed (or Nichols can't make a 20+ yard pass on a consistent basis, or both) and the Bombers once again lack depth at receiver.
  20. I can't see an OC getting fired with one-third of the season left. They will stick it out with him. Plus who would replace him?
  21. What was this that final throw?! Throwing it across the field for what would have been an 8-yard gain with a minute left. Nichols needs to be far more aggressive in that instance throwing it down the field 15 - 20 yards. I guess he isn't capable of it.
  22. Title says it all. Underwhelming performance after underwhelming performance this year. He has not had one good performance, let alone a great one, this season. Playcalling could have been better but Nichols was terrible when it mattered most. His final passes of the game ....2 completions out of 10 with 1 pick to end the game. Totals for the game 14/26 53.8% completion rate 1 TD 2 INT This is not a hot take. He has been below average all season. I'm not sure if he can find his 2016/early 2017 self again.
  23. That might be Nichols choice not to throw downfield as he should have.
  24. Six years for this franchise without a playoff victory. Longest streak in the league. Even Montreal has a playoff victory in that time span. Sigh.
