  1. With Loffler already contributing and Corney and Couture seeming like they could be starters soon if any of these other guys develops into something, even a rotational guy, that would be amazing. What a good job drafting!
  2. As someone who owns firearms and has bought firearms recently, I was shocked and disappointed how much information I found about how suitable different guns are for self-defense. Trying to find information about how the gun is for hunting and there just seems to be so much more about how they can be used for self and home defense. Almost exclusively American sources. Couldn't believe some of the stuff I saw. The worst was talking about buying a gun for every member of the family, including buying a gun for a child with a specially shortened stock so they could protect the household in case the parents were incapacitated!
  3. Youtube is one thing, but having team produced videos. Maybe something like they've done for Stegall when honouring him or other players. The Roberts clip package is cool, but low quality. The team could do so much more, maybe show clips of old interviews or stuff to show the personality and such. For me that is what cements people into die hard fans. During the rough years, talking about swaggerville or other outstanding moments/eras/games/players are what's kept me with this team.
  4. Love that video. Makes me happy to think that I was able to witness his special abilities both in person and on tv, rather than just hearing about them from older bomber fans like I do with Ken Ploen and other legends. I wish the bombers and CFL would create more video's of special players, plays and games and leave them up on their website. One of the things that keep my attention in football is being able to get cherished memories from any possible game that can live on through conversations with others... "Remember that time that...." One of my favourites with my dad is remembering that time we were leaving and Westwood won the game on a 55 yard field goal. I know I sure wouldn't mind re-watching that Bomber-Eskimo game when Milt made his miracle catch rather than watching garbage TV.
  5. Last time I lived in Winnipeg I had season tickets at the Polo Park location. Something around $100, sitting in the end zone, but it was excellent value. Really enjoyed it. It was during swaggerville and pretty much every game was worth going to. Lived in the north end at the time and biked to just about every game. You wouldn't believe how quick you could get into and out of games on a bike. If I had been driving to the games, my commute would have likely been twice as long. I know many fans wouldn't consider it, but I would expect biking in and out of the new location would be even better. I used to bike there from Osborne village daily when I was a student. Tons of bike infrastructure for getting into and out of the area. Again, many wouldn't consider it, but that is what I would look at if I moved back to town. Always wanted to combine driving and biking. Park a bit out of the way, but be able to get there quick on a bike. Gotta have a truck or decent sized vehicle to take the bike I guess....
  6. Do you guys use the CJOB app for streaming? When I just have a cell I use TuneIn Radio (android) and it hasn't been stellar recently, so I might try the switch today.
  7. Even though I don't have memories of listening to Cactus Jack, I still love reading posts when Cactus Jack is being channel. Very entertaining.
  8. A little late to the posting party, but maybe a specific thread for just expressing the immediate feelings right after a loss (maybe a win too)? I know I was extremely upset right after the loss and it kinda helps seeing others express those first feelings that occur before realizing the sky isn't falling. Soon after I don't envision the team going winless this year and can take it in perspective and realize its just one game. I think I remember someone saying that is what the chat is for, but I for one rarely have access to chat during, or immediately after the game. Perhaps it could filter the hyper-negative stuff post loss from all the other threads. Just a thought. Second, I am a teacher in Northern MB and I introduce my students to football, most of who have no idea about the game other than what the actual ball looks like. After playing it a bunch they quickly gain interest.. Its a great sport after all. Every once in a while I show them clips from the CFL, return tds, exciting plays and such and the become really excited about watching the game. Get some of them to watch bomber games, but lately its pretty frustrating with the bombers not winning and often putting up boring and depressing games. Hard to get them hooked to following the team, but I'm in my early 30s and somehow I'm fully into it even with what's gone on in the 25 years I've been a fan.
  9. I noted about them supporting political candidates and having political guest authors to point out that their stories are likely going to have a perspective or bias which they try to influence the reader with. Not that their opinion is wrong just because they supported bush. I have some of earthlings, but even further, I have seen similar stuff in person and the food system we have is sickening. I do not eat that much store-bought meat as a result and instead eat what I have raised, hunted or has been hunted or raised and given to me. I don't make a big deal about it at restaurants and stuff, nor when I am offered food by others. Guess that's a bit of a quiet compromise I make.
  10. That's right! I forgot that it was duck and not chicken. Shame on me for forgetting that as I actually raise ducks! For some reason I believe it is also done with chicken fetus, perhaps in a different culture, though maybe I am wrong about that too.
  11. And I find it offensive that I'm not able to feel that some things are weird. Perhaps if we both learned to manage our own emotions better we'd be more ok with those of others. You're welcome to find it weird. Just as I can find that a bit disrespectful. I think there's room for both of us to have our opinions. I find it surprising and unappealing to eat chicken fetus in the egg. I am friends with people that do and I attempted to try it..... the result was unsuccessful Absolutely (and I edited my original post to not sound so much like I was attacking you), it's when people are shamed for their opinions (like the first example)and when programming and policy decisions are influenced (like the second) when it becomes a problem. Okay, didn't notice the edit till you pointed it out. I think people being shamed for their opinions is partially why I commented in the first place. I found the article to be a completely biased attack on the opinions someone wrote without them having a chance to respond to defend or clarify their point.

  13. Sure, attack the source (we see that a lot here), and yes, I admit it was an attack piece to some extent, and I also admitted that there is some real cultural insensitivity out there like dressing up in black face etc. that needs to be frowned upon in our society, but what got me worked up wasn't the lunatic lady with the food issues, it was the yoga story (I notice you didn't mention that one). That is a ridiculous use of the term "cultural appropriation" to ban yoga from a school campus, but no surprise that it is being banned at one of our uber-hip and uber-PC universities, and of course, at the extreme PC University of Ottawa, one of the worst campuses in Canada for jumping on whatever stupid politically correct trend is fashionable. Here's part of the yoga story: The verbal diarrhea coming out of that student federation president's mouth sounds extremely Orwellian, in that it makes no sense whatsoever. "Yoga-like spaces" - ??? Just ridiculous. I didn't comment on the yoga story because a) I don't much about it and that wasn't what the topic was about. I was just trying to point out that some seemed to be jumping on board with the posted article that was blatantly biased. The author of the article may have a point, but so might the actual book being commented upon. I am not familiar with it other than what has been quoted in the article you posted, but I am supposing that is also true of many if not everyone else commenting. The yoga story does seem strange to me, I have no clue why it would be cancelled, but again, I haven't taken the time to check the source. And I probably won't.
  14. It's easy to criticize something when a few quotes have been pulled out of a book in a blatant attempt to demonize a social justice movement. I know it's obviously just an opinion, not an actual review of the book, but its comical to me how it has been used to inflame people against a certain point of view. I don't really see anything wrong with the actual quotes from the book, though I doubt I'd agree with the whole book had a read it. To think of a food from another culture as weird cause it doesn't fit with our experiences does seem disrespectful to me. I think it can be viewed as different or unappealing though. I wouldn't be surprised if someone saw it strange to consume lactations of a mammary gland of other animals, though it is largely a staple of my diet. Or eat food that is filled with ingredients that we don't even know, created through I process that we don't understand, but I do love my jalapeno cheddar cheetos. What I'm basically trying to say is just to make sure its understood this is from a conservative opinion piece from a company who has endorsed both Bush presidents (W twice) and feature Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin as guest authors.
  15. What I remember of Berry was him hating Serna and causing Serna to lose confidence. Far from what is being suggested. Plus, O'Shea did fire Etch. I don't think firing him during the season would have salvaged much anyhow. I'm not sure the cronyism still exists. It's to early to tell with this management. I don't think O'Shea should be fired anytime soon, but I did wonder in a curious way if Walters would be able to pull the trigger if need be
  16. And by starting, I mean..... starting in the third string spot.
  17. I wonder if something fishy is going on here. If he wasn't in shape to play or practice why was he taking up a roster spot instead of starting Davis?
  18. Well O'Shea said on CJOB that he didn't practice this week because he was 'nicked up'
  19. The entitlement they show in those tweets is concerning. If they were committed to doing their job well, not just the tweets would be different, but they would actually want to watch practice. Like many, I have been disappointed with coverage for a long time, but on reflection have noticed it has hit a new low this year. Filler is a good term. If only they gave a press pass to someone knowledgeable from this site there could be some really good info out there. As it is, the site is usually better for information than the papers. So I guess that's the positive side of having horrible media coverage. I also wonder where the weak link(s) are between the club, media and fans. I think O'Shea might believe in controlling the message to the degree Mike Kelly did, but he's able to control his emotions better. I can't stand how dull interviews with O'Shea are. Doesn't give anything to add interest to the team. If that ends in results on the field I guess that's the goal though. But its hard when fans are not even allowed to know information about injuries. I believe the press is frustrated with the team too, but they should still at least try to do their job.
  20. I was just thinking about this the other day. And I was thinking specifically about Ritchie being interviewed from his office. My memory is failing... Was Ritchie regularly interviewed behind his desk or was this just once or twice?
  21. Sears was a game changer for us. What I loved about him was his ability to lead others on the team to play better off the field and certainly motivated them on the field seeing him knock guys around. Brought a good deal of entertainment for the fans too.
  22. I'm not particularly against the logo, but gotta have the royal blues. On a side note, probably my favourite jerseys of all-time (any sport) are the BC Lions gunmetal jerseys they brought out recently. They are sharp and I wish we would have come out with something like that, but I'm not sure it would have fit our colour scheme.
  23. I was really a fan of Renaud when he first joined the team. I had never seen a punter pursue his kicks like Renaud and he made a couple of game-changing plays as a result of recovering his own punts or causing chaos getting downfield fast... Wish I still had some video footage of it. Unfortunately, if I recall, his downfield pursuit caused an injury and he never resumed that part of his game. Seemed like a great team player and character guy though.
  24. I wonder if there`s a chance that Toronto could be hoping this would make him more likely to land in Winnipeg. If they believe that he`s going to be a good player, they`d want him out of the division. Right now I think Hamilton doesn`t have a clear picture of whether Burris will be back or not, making Winnipeg look like the best opportunity for Collaros. If they waited until free agency to let him look that could mean Burris is out of Hamilton and Collaros would be more likely to sign in Hamilton. Or maybe this theory of mine is a reach.....
