yeah...was a lot of sneaky stuff back in day..was a tougher game then with lots of stuff happening that bordered on criminal...my one defensive coordinator told us that if we had to hurdle over a guy on the ground to get to a ball carrier we were to either kick him in the ribs or step on a hand..let em know your there he would say hahahaha..
-
It was more an issue that he was cut/bleeding and needed that to be taken care of..most likely from a helmet buckle.. Interesting story.....I know of players when I played who would shave/file the edges of the metal strap buckles on helmets to a knife like edge...to cause cuts on opposing players..
-
Been reported before that someone else has said if you wanted anyone as backup in a dark alley it would be him as well.. or something along those lines
-
they look at it as he does short yardage and goaline packages...so potential to score several TD's a game
-
yeah there's no doubt...Oshea just being...Oshea hahahaha
-
what Harris has done against Montreal...and BC (WHO GUTTED THEIR DEFENSE) means not too much in my opinion...lets see what he can do against what should be a top 2 defense in the league, with some game film to be studied..
-
I'd say 3 now...with a crap QB and offence you can expect a game..maybe two like that where the offense clicks and you pound out a win...but since that supposed "vaunted" defense played as to what they are...they didn't get the win...we'll see if the T.O game on the weekend was an abberation due to rust and no real game action to date...if they come out with a chip on their shoulder and beat the Rider's...man things gonna get ugly out there....
-
he seems overwhelmed and almost stunned...to be honest
-
so does that make the Riders the worst of the bad teams..seeing as you lost to both...all excuses aside, good teams don't lose due to excuses Shivers wasn't on the field though making plays...your DB's were being beat repeatedly, and the d-line didn't get any sustained pressure or push so maybe it's overated expectations of personnel, or just not that good of personnel
-
he's fine tuning his "stats" agenda...and how we should not be happy with 185 yards passing , 3Td's and power running game allowing us to win at a .700 clip over the past 3 years, as opposed to 300+ yards and fancy numbers...but still a loss Trying to figure out how to say that now we should not be so content to have that..and a stout defense so that when we put up 30+ points and win that it is only because our defense got lucky or something..and that if we are happy about being solid but not spectacular in all facets that it doesn't mean diddly...or something along those lines...forgetting that winning football games takes 3 facets of the game...2 of which right sucked for them last night on probably the only night this year they ring up numbers like that on offence
-
yeah...but hasn't he been coaching in the league for what now..pushing 20 years, doesn't take a lot to know the game..intricacies..in game situ type calls/adjustment...that's a poor excuse really for any new HC other than one like say Mike Sherman who had zero canadian football experience whatsoever
-
you also have to remembe our "back-up" accounted for 21 additional TD's...more than I think your QB's combined..6 or so of which were a result of his starts, but the remainder were direct result of Nichols putting us in that spot to score...how many additinal TD's did ZC set the Riders up for?...ummm...me thinks...zero
-
Michah Johnson is a beast when teams have to contend to other guys along the line, but when he has to do all the slugging himself, and be a difference maker/play maker ala Jefferson...well you see the results...Hughes is garbage and runs his yap more than makes plays now..and Zack Evans is highly over-rated..and paid..and I doubt Henry even makes rotation on any other team..
-
I think Marshall is way overrated anyway..got some gift picks last yr one of which ..or was it 2 resulting in a pick 6...and that got Rider Nation singing the second coming of Rod Hill. He is a converted QB for gawds sake and gets beat more often then not on double moves and pump fakes...the early success was worst thing to happen to him as he now thinks he can do it every time and teams have the 411 on his play now...wasn't he the one burned in the Hammer too on the BANKS score...and cutting that Butler for Means...yeah that was well thought out...
-
A few more losses pile up..watch for imploding all over the roster
-
0-2...hot mess for sure...zero depth and inflated offensive numbers...really for both teams due to piss poor defenses though Davis did show some nice touch. That close to 500k for 2 dlinemen is sure paying off..said all along Johnson would be a non factor with no supporting cast..and that 180k Evan's is slow and useless too. Fartado had what I expected will happen this yr..one to two games like that where you think they would win (but that true defense showed up so no win)..he'll have one to 2 with less than 150 yards and multiple picks..and a bunch with middle of road stats.. and field goals..rider faithfull will get false hope with this game..but I bet it's a one off...and if not for Chris Randle they would have got smoked..I see why bomber management cut him loose. Toronto has a way better defense and next week I bet they shut the riders right down and Walker and Green go off on those weak dbs who are getting no pressure from up front.. Interesting game though..i thought Ottawa defense would be better with all the returnees. And riders vaunted defense? Gimme a break...
-
That coaching staff at times on sidelines look stunned when cameras show them
-
got to remember too..Ottawa returned 10 starters on their defense this year..thats huge and they also limited BLM to under 300 yards, and 1 TD....WHAT do you think they will do..at home to Sask water gun offence
-
to be fair...2 of those picks of Davis were not his doing...his receiver Demski'd it to Cgy If Davis plays within himself and doesn't try to be a world beater they win easily..sask has no answer for any type of offensive back and forth and will their defense will wear down as game goes on I can see them trying to believe and live of to their hype and score defensive turnovers by taking chances and getting roasted in doing so
-
Until the Sask defense actually shows it's even a close resemblance to last years team, I can't give it the love and say they should/can be a difference maker and a reason they could pull out wins... Jones is gone and he made it work Equaven is gone...probably their best all around defender Jefferson is gone and was a force and a problem for OC's Hughes faded bad...is older and showed noting first game Micha Johnson won't be the difference maker and play maker Jefferson was Gainey is overated and is boom or bust...and to much a me first guy Edem flat out sucks Hurl and Judge will get heavy rotation...meh to that If Ottawa jumps out early and gets ahead by a couple scores putting the Riders in catch-up mode I can see this game getting away from them and being an easy Ottawa win
-
oh they have Harker...he's better and the next big thing in the CFL...DIDN'T YOU HEAR??
-
sask...the place where The Roughriders have subsequently gone six full games (including one playoff contest) and three additional quarters without an aerial score. Bet havinf a scrub like Nichols wouldn't have led to that...just saying
-
yeah they are funny...really funny as people yapped about Collaros being a 10-4 starter last year and "back" and maybe...maaaaybeee one of the wins was a direct result of his play...how much sand do you think is left in just as old Powell with no QB whatsoever to help ease his pain and work load and a patchwork crappy o-line?...I bet nine times out of 10 whatever qb you trot out there won't have Nichols like stats...no INT's...3 TD'S 30+ points scored winning time of possession...be like 2-3 picks...multiple 2 and outs...no TD passes and maybe offence produced in the high teens
-
31 and 14 over last couple years...seems like a good strategy 😁
