  1. There is no way that releasing Cole was a cap move. Just so many things wrong with that train of thought it is laughable.
  2. Every GM in the league disagrees with you. If he were a CFL calibre QB he would be on a roster or PR somewhere. He is not being blackballed because he is Canadian.
  3. This post is just sad irony. You are attempting to mock people's knowledge without any clue or evidence to suggest that they are wrong. You can disagree...but this post comes off as you being proved correct, yet I don't see an iota of evidence to support your indignation. Sometimes you should just accept the fact that some people know more about the Bombers than you do and quit trying to make it a competition.
  4. A more important criteria than sacks would be how disciplined and effective is Peach with his Gap assignments. Gap assignment is important, however, a DE has to have the ability to rush the QB. Saying that Peach's zero sacks is excusable because of gap assignment is like saying a receiver with zero catches is worth starting because he blocks well downfield. Stats don't tell the whole story on a player's abilities or worth, but they shouldn't be ignored either. Gap control...sheesh...if that's all we want out of a DE then no wonder our DL is in shambles.
  5. Geez....Montreal really? If true then it was obviously all about the money for Henoc. If that's the case I am upset with Bomber management right now.
  6. I will hate to see Henoc in another team's colors but so be it. I agree that Hurl has been improving at MLB. Although a failure by Walters imo, I am not too upset about this. As long as the Bombers are spending to the cap, I can understand the reasoning for not making Henoc a fair offer and withholding money for someone else. If this is a case of Henoc being a luxury spend so be it...so long as that same money is used on needs....and we have a lot of them. If we can't win the Muamba sweepstakes I expect Walters to be actively pursuing someone else with that money....and I mean NOW.
  7. I am going to go to Greg Peach's house and steal back the incriminating photos he has of the Bomber coaches. This nonsense needs to end. Cole looked like a good one. He should still be here. I have no problem with the Bombers signing another DE, god knows, we could use a stud opposite Westerman. Why on earth they keep Peach around is the better question.
  8. Can't really blame MOS for any challenge flag thrown/not thrown. Blame it on the booth if you want....but certainly not O'Shea. Anyone who has ever watched a football game from the sidelines knows that your view of the game is not the best.
  9. I like what I've seen from Bastien so far.
  10. They tried him at safety because they are obviously looking at seeing what he can do there. He was a DB through all of his career. Why not try him out? He had a good couple of weeks practicing there.
  11. Officiating was as brutal as I've seen all year long. We got screwed. I don't think it was why we lost the game, but it sure as hell is why we didn't have a chance to win.
  12. There are a couple of US markets that expansion could work. The CFL's big problem with US expansion last time was that they added too many teams, too quickly, into markets that weren't for the most part very interested. The CFL gambled that small markets like Shreveport, Birmingham, and San Antonio would thrive because of the football cultures of these cities. However, what they failed to account for, or to expect, was that these deep south cities would be intensely loyal to the American game. Baltimore was a great success because the fan base accepted the CFL without bias. There are pockets in the US that actually draw strong viewership numbers for the CFL in the Northern US. Expand to a couple of those cities and the teams would likely succeed.
  13. I actually prefer the extended gong show. Let him close the door on the NFL, or rather let the NFL close the door on him, and let him tour the CFL and check out all options. If at the end, we sign him it will be with no regrets for Henoc. No coulda woulda shoulda. I don't want him signing here and then regretting it because NFL interest came along. I want the Bombers to have his undivided attention afterwards.
  14. Hope that is legit.Ya I took it as legit the first time, but reading it again, I think the guy might be trolling. Not trolling one bit. If anyone should be accused of doing that from time to time it's you.
  15. Well, that worked out well for Simmons & his agent. The Bombers have now prevented Simmons from feeding his family. Cue the hateful tweets a' comin'. How are the Bombers preventing him from feeding his family? He is free to sign a contract elsewhere. If he is good enough there will be takers.
  16. The players didn't show up...by their own admission...for the game. That is most definitely on them. It's gut check time in that dressing room. The leaders need to lead, and everyone needs to show up looking a lot less like they spent the night before in a Montreal strip club.
  17. Calgary > Winnipeg. Not gonna happen. Normally I would agree, however, there are rumblings in Calgary about a rift between Huffer and ownership.
  18. I sure hope that if Walters is going to leave that another team has jumped on the grenade that is Taman beforehand. If not, good gravy, he might come back here.
  19. What an awful, awful Rider team. Just an atrocious defence. It makes me grin from ear to ear just to watch the incompetence they are displaying. Gotta march the field with 40 seconds left in the game...no problem against the Riders.
  20. I watched practice with Drew on the Thursday before the Banjo Bowl from the press box and he told me at that time that he was about 3 weeks away from returning. Told me his knee is healing well. I asked him what the chances were that he returns this season...he said 100% and it'll be sooner rather than later.
  21. Let's put it this way, the fact that Nichols is a capable backup QB and that Henoc is a star MLBer means that the choice would never be between them. The Bombers would cut any of, or a combination of, Moore, Denmark, Cotton, Turner, Anderson, Hurl, Randle, Leggett, etc. before they would even consider turfing their backup. I am not sure what you think Nichols is making but he is a career backup, he might be marginally more expensive than Brohm. Why would you ever go into your QB corps to save money? Or use it as an excuse to not sign a star NI? Both are absolute roster priorities. Everyone else is expendable to make it happen. Cripes, thats pre-beginner roster management 101 stuff there.
  22. No it's really not. You are trying to suggest that each position on the field is weighted equally. They are not. QB is not a position that ever receives cuts due to SMS unless you have an aging QB that is not earning his money. Nobody skimps on their QB corps, nobody, If the Bombers were in a cash crunch to get Henoc there are about a dozen non QB imports that would be more likely to get their walking papers.
  23. Quoted for truth. That’s your opinion and you’re certainly entitled to it. Not sure why this question bothers you so much…it’s a legit question that a GM could need to consider/manage. It's a legit dumb question because Nichols ain't getting paid like a starter and even if he was I got a lot of other areas I can cut salary in to fit both in. Picard cut alone saves a huge amount of money. Like I said, you are entitled to your opinion Absolutely. This place is like Animal Farm. Everyone is equal but some think they are more equal than others. This is completely untrue. There is a big discrepancy between many posters. This particular question is dumb for a number of reasons that have been pointed out by me and others. I wouldn't call it dumb...poorly thought out, or unrealistic are probably more appropriate. In what world does a team sign a MLBer and cut a QB to offset it? Doesn't make too much sense in reality. However, this thread does offer some discussion points. Can we fit Henoc into our current SMS long term or are their SMS issues that need to be cleared up? Extremely and highly unlikely any of these legit questions have anything at all to do with Nichols though. Read the initial question on page 1...it's not poorly thought out. It was asked exactly as was the intent: "If you were a GM...". It's poorly thought out because there would be no GM in the free world faced with this dilemma. There are your QBs, your NIs, that must be protected then every other 30 or so imports would be targets for release before this would ever happen. It's not a plausible situation. The Bombers have at least a dozen people they would release or trade that would provide the SMS savings needed before this situation would ever occur. In what world would a football team have to sacrifice it's backup QB to sign a star NI. NO WORLD, thus it's poorly thought out because although hypothetical it is not a question any GM would ever have to answer. It's like asking, " If you could only have one, would you choose a GM or a HC?" The answer that everyone not willing to partake in farfetched hypotheticals is trying to tell you is that they would sign both and make cuts to the SMS elsewhere.

Extremely and highly unlikely any of these legit questions have anything at all to do with Nichols though. I will concede that the use of him as a choice was not very intelligent. Especially when you have Hurl who plays the same position and makes roughly the same amount of money being the overwhelmingly most likely candidate to be traded or released in the offseason should we sign Henoc. I can also think of 5-6 moves that would make far more sense before even contemplating the future of my QB corps. You spend what you need to spend on QBs and NIs, and then you fill in the rest of the SMS.
  25. Kid's got a cannon of an arm, and accurate. Quick release too. Good prospect.
